Top Floor 1 Bedroom Amazing Apartment With Views Of The Cove And Ipswich Bay
About Diane Pappas
My brother Robbie and I (Diane) purchased 1072 Washington Street in May 2013, because we wanted to own a piece of beautiful Lanesville. I moved here not too long before from Sudbury, MA and knew that my brother would love this area too. I was really trying to get him to move up here from Long Island, and when that didn't work, I suggested we buy a piece of property together (just to give him yet another reason to come visit me). I live up the street in Lanesville with my significant other, Paul, and my two girls. Paul and I take care of the property and make sure that our guests are well taken care of. We can't say enough about Lanesville. We love it here and even though it seems like we are at the end of the world, there is no place we would rather be…especially in the summer. There is so much to do around here that we are never bored, and neither are the kids - and that says a lot! The best thing about Lanesville is that you can spend the whole day within walking distance of your home and at the end of the day, feel like you were on an amazing adventure. We especially love enjoying a bottle of wine while watching the sun set at Plum Cove Beach. Many nights we will walk down to the cove too, along with many of our neighbors, just to sit on the rocks, watch the waves and boats pass by and reflect on the awesomeness of the area. We feel so lucky to be a part of this town.

Why Diane Pappas chose Gloucester
Buying this property was really just a whim of mine, but once I saw the inside and the views from both floors, I knew it would be an amazing property to own. I called my brother right after the showing and told him I wanted to make an offer, like right now. He said ok. Mind you, he is my older brother, I'm just the little sister that always followed him around, but some reason he had faith in me and trusted my judgement. There was already another offer on the table, but I wrote a little personal story along with the offer and that sealed the deal. We were proud owners of the little red fire house. I now had a place for my office in the back of the first floor and my dream of owning a rental property had come true. I have a future dream of opening up a small retail store in the front, but first things first. Come stay with us every year and be a part of the dream.

Daughter was receiving her Masters from Endicott College ad booked ”The Loft” for her sister, her and I for the weekend after (we flew in from Austin, TX to Boston for the event). The loft was exactly as advertised! We found the loft to be cheerful and bright but what we had not expected was how conveniently located it is between 2 accesses to the water, a coffee shop, a bottle shop and even a church! ALL walking distance. The owner was great w communication, friendly and helpful. Would DEFINITELY stay again...and very well might!!
Hi Meta, Thank you so much for your 5-star review! I'm glad you enjoyed Lanesville as much as we do. It is one of our best kept secrets in Gloucester. Congrats on your daughter's accomplishments!
Comfortable, convenient and everything we needed
Diane anticipated everything - from beach chairs, umbrella and towels, to fresh ice in the freezer. The Loft was clean and comfortable. The decor was charming. This is a gem and a great value. We had a great time during our one-week stay in Lanesville.
We loved staying in the loft, everything about it was grand. We were so comfortable and relaxed and Diane has such a gift of hospitality. In the past when we stayed in Cape Ann we would take towels, sheets but all was provided. We enjoyed staying in this little village walking to the private beach and enjoying the sunset. Charming and peaceful... we can't wait to return. August, 2018... Rhoads from PA
Comfort at Cape Ann
For the 2nd summer in a row, we stayed at the beautiful Loft at Lane's Cove. Cosy and convenient. Close to little "wild" beach with shells, shingle, ocean sand and life guard (!) at Plum Cove. And we are not far from Crane Beach, Wingaersheek Beach and also Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester. We love the feeling to be in the center of North Shore of Massachusetts, never far from the ocean, surrounded by historical sites. From Ipswich Bay, we can spread from Plum Island and Merrimack and Parker Rivers to Manchester-by-the Sea, not forgetting Rockport.
Being in Ipswich Bay, north west side of Cape Ann, The Loft at Lane's Cove is right on the sunset coast, with beautiful view after walking through cemetery to emerge on the rocks.
Hoping to return.

Hi Jean and Sylvie,
I'm so glad you returned to The Loft! Such a wonderful description of our very special Cape Ann and Lanesville. I hope you come back again too!
Cozy, Quite Getaway!
My daughter and I had a wonderful time at Diane's loft. Fantastic location with the ocean just a short walk away! The Loft was clean, comfortable and exactly as described in the listing. Parking was never a problem. Lots to do nearby and a trip into Boston is easy. Will definitely visit again!
The Loft at Lane's Cove is situated in the picturesque quarry village of Lanesville. Located between Annisquam and Rockport, the Loft affords the traveler many opportunities to do some amazing things. History abounds in this area of Gloucester with the Loft itself located on the top floor of the old firehouse that was once operational in the 1800s.
Walk to the Plum Cove Beach, sited by National Geographic as having some of the best sunsets on the East Coast. Explore the rocky coastline from the Loft, or visit Halibut State Park, a three minute car ride away, to see a beautiful water filled quarry and explore miles of paths. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the rocks.
Rent kayaks in either Lockport or better yet, rent in nearby Essex and spend the day kayaking the Essex River.
