This contemporary two-story cottage sits among the trees and boasts an amazing view of the mountains and beautiful Swan Lake. A wooded path takes you to a nice swimming beach equipped with a dock and over 200 feet of lackfront to explore. There is one bedroom with a queen bed and a fold out queen futon upstairs so it sleeps four comfortably. One bathroom with a shower and a clawfoot bathtub outside so you can soak in a beautiful private setting while gazing out at the lake. It has a well-stocked kitchen with stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher and there is a barbeque on the deck for guests' use. Cottage is equipped with a flat-screen tv, dvd/vcr/cd players with many movies, music and board games to enjoy. No wi-fi (but you won't want to be looking at a screen while you are here anyway :) There is good cell coverage. On the point of the property there is a gazebo with a swinging double-chair perfect for your morning coffee or evening glass of wine as you watch the beautiful sunset. Swan Lake has great fishing and swimming and it's usually glassy surface makes it perfect for water skiing and other water toys. There is very little boat traffic so you may feel that the entire lake is yours to enjoy. Swan Song is truly a little slice of heaven!

About Pam Ponich
I am originally from Billings, MT and also lived for many years in California where I got my degrees at Stanford and San Diego State. Though I loved the weather and the ocean, I missed the mountains, fresh air and beautiful lakes of my home state so moved to Helena, MT where I have lived for the past 22 years. I am married with two teen-age boys who have become expert water skiers on the 'glass' of Swan and have grown to love it as much as I do. We live year-round in Helena where I am a psychotherapist and entertainer.
Pam Ponich purchased this Cottage in 1986
Why Pam Ponich chose Bigfork
My family spent many summers in the Flathead area when I was young and Swan Lake grew to be my favorite place on earth! My parents were some of the earliest performers at the Bigfork Summer Theatre and when I was old enough, I too did professional summer theatre in Bigfork (and many other places). My mom and I scraped our pennies together to put a down-payment on this property when I was in my twenties and later built our little cottage which has hosted many a family gathering. Later my brother joined in as part owner of Swan Song so it is really a family-owned place where we have all made many happy memories. I remember when we first purchased the property, I would sit among the trees, gazing out at the beautiful lake and mountains and think about how very blessed I was to get to own a little piece of heaven. I still think that every time I am there as it truly is one of the most beautiful and special places on earth.
What makes this Cottage unique
So beautiful, serene, quiet but with so much to do close by in Bigfork village if you want great theatre, a great meal, or to stroll among beautiful artwork. What I love most about the property is that it stretches out into the lake at a point so it is very private and it truly does have an amazingly beautiful view of the lake and mountains beyond.

Great family vacation!
We had an incredible time at Swan Song. We have 3 little girls (ages 7 and twins at 5) - we all enjoyed relaxing in the cabin, jet skiing and boating on the lake (easy access dock) and even dining at the Terrace Supper Club next door. On our last day there we played a fun little game - between all the nooks and crannies we counted 43 Swans upstairs!
We would love to go back again someday. Beautiful cabin on a beautiful lake!
Swan Lake is absolutely beautiful! We had a great week.
My family and I (two adults, two teens) had a wonderful stay at Swan Song. Swan Lake is a very nice sized lake and is absolutely beautiful. The Swan Song cottage is on a small hill overlooking the lake. You can enjoy views of the lake from the cottage's deck -- we ate most of our meals on the deck to enjoy the views and the weather. From the cottage, there is a path down the hill to the water. Halfway down the path is a gazebo that sits on a point overlooking the water -- a great spot to sit and read or just sit. The property's lakefront is rocky (not a sandy beach) but quite nice. There is a dock that is in good condition and goes out deep enough that you can jump and swim off the dock, or sunbathe on the dock. We rented kayaks from a nearby business that delivers (convenient!).
The house has one bedroom and one bathroom, both on the lower floor. Our teenage daughters slept on the futon (folds out to a bed) on the upper floor, but this made the upper living area a bit crowded. This house would be plenty big for two people; it worked fine for four people but it was a little bit tight; I would not recommend it for more than 4.
Everything was in good working order. The house is not "luxurious" but it was very comfortable and everything works. There is a dishwasher but not a clothes washer or dryer.
The town of Big Fork is about 10 miles away. Big Fork is small, but the downtown has a few nice shops and restaurants. There is a theater that stages plays in the summer -- we went and had a great time. Big Fork also has a "full-size" grocery store and pharmacy just outside the downtown, so you can get whatever you need. It is 10 miles to Big Fork but it is an easy drive.
Besides Swan Lake itself, several day hikes are easily accessible from this house. We did the Holland Falls day hike and it was well worth the 45-minute drive (each way).
The house is well equipped with cookware, dishes, books, DVDs, even paper towels and toiletries and some food staples. In fact, my one complaint about Swan Song is that the house might be *too* well equipped -- it felt a bit cluttered. It was great to find ketchup already in the fridge, but we didn't need four (yes, four) bottles of ketchup waiting for us. The library of books and DVDs is great, but LPs and cassettes just take up space. The number of dishes, mugs, etc., is excessive for a group of 2-4 guests. However, on balance, it was really nice that we didn't have to bring all these with us.
Cozy Treetop Getaway
We had a great time at this cabin. I loved how the upstairs felt like a treehouse! That was probably my favorite part. The cabin had everything my family needed. We brought our own boats, enjoyed the water, the gazeebo, deck and all the games. The neighbors are close, but you cant see them. The spot is nice and private.
Cute, cozy place for our small girls getaway!
Pam, the owner was quick to respond when I had questions surrounding booking the cabin. The cabin is a small walk from the water Uphill, not directly ON the lake.
The cabin was stocked with everything we needed as far as kitchen utensils, towels, blankets and even shampoo. The bed and futon were very comfortable!
The lake is gorgeous, bring your own water toys. They have two boats but they only fit one person each. They have music, movies and books...not much variety in music, I would bring my own cd's we never turned on the tv. They had games and puzzles which we enjoyed immensely. Our group consisted of 5 women who went to college together. We had a blast!
Such a beautiful and peaceful area of Montana, I would definitely come back!
Only 4 stars because the parking area was small and difficult to maneuver especially with more than one vehicle.
Cool & Relaxing Lake Space
We enjoyed a wonderful week in Swan Song especially kayaking and our reading time on the shore with quick plunges off the dock to cool off. Close to Bigfork for a nice break from cooking…Showthyme for dinner and Pocketstone for breakfast and the Raven in Woods Bay for a burger and beer! Will come back nest year!
A beautiful spot on the lake, great swimming off of the dock and a nice relaxing cabin to retire to after a day on the water. My son was even able to catch and releae a trout off the dock. Close enough to Bigfork to enjoy the summer theater (highly recommend it) and central to some great trailheads (we did the Holland Lake Falls hike). Pam is a great communicator and host. Thank you for sharing your little slice of paradise!
Swan Lake is one of the most beautiful and serene lakes in the area. Small enough that there isn't a lot of boat traffic, yet large enough for any kind of boating, amazing water skiing, jet skiing, fishing and swimming. Swan village with small boat rentals is minutes away as is the charming village of Bigfork which boasts fabulous restaurants, shopping, art galleries, live theater, a great golf course and a marina on Flathead Lake. There are beautiful day hikes and backpacking opportunities all around and gorgeous Glacier National Park is a short drive away. In the winter there is fantastic downhill skiing at Blacktail above Flathead Lake and Big Mountain in Whitefish as well as opportunities for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
