Rent a moment In history at Vashon Park District's Belle Baldwin House at Fern Cove, home of Washington State's first female physician.

Named a State Historic Landmark, the Belle Baldwin house may be the only known intact example of the residential work of Harlan Thomas, a renowned architect whose buildings are distinguished Seattle landmarks.

Vashon Park District’s ‘green’ restoration process has returned the house to its 1912 glory, creating a relaxing, natural environment that honors the park and the past. Located on 750 feet of pristine Puget Sound beach, it doesn't get any better than this.

The house is located in Vashon Park District’s Fern Cove Park. The park is open to the public during the day for walk-in, passive uses, such as beach walks and bird watching.

The home was fully refurbished in 2008 to provide vacation rentals to the public. It features a large living-dining room with the original paned windows facing the shore and Baldwin Creek. The three bedrooms (two queens/two twins), and one-bath house is comfortable for a group of six (there is also one roll-a-way available for a 7th person at an additional charge per night) and we provide all household items to ensure a comfortable stay. There is also a gas fireplace and nap-friendly leather couch.

Facility Rental Contract MUST be signed, dated and returned to Vashon Park District prior to arrival date, or your reservation may be canceled!

Beautiful setting

Our stay in Vashon was especially memorable, the house is just beautiful, well appointed, and the water front access is instant. We appreciated how there were boots for us to enjoy the streams and beach, and a warm fireplace for the evenings. We will be back!

A beautiful place to spend the holidays on Vashon

This is a beautiful place to stay. Its location on the water is a perfect place to watch nature and enjoy time with family. The location is very private and serene. Appreciated reading the history of the house. It is well-equipped.

I try to keep my expectations low for places I stay, but no need to for Belle Baldwin House. We were completely delighted with everything -- the house, the setting, all the thoughtfulness that went into furnishing the kitchen and bath. And a Christmas tree!!! I couldn't have imagined it any more beautiful or peaceful or perfect in every way.

Transcendent!

My husband and I came for a weekend getaway to explore Vashon. We were absolutely delighted by everything about this house: the historic nature, the amazing location, the water view featuring birds, otters, and the changing weather. The cozy fireplace, comfy bed, and luxurious clawfoot tub took our stay to the next level. We loved it all!
