Spring 2024 Getaway
I never want to stay in someone else’s “everyday”, so it was somewhat disappointing to see so many remnants. Floors and throw rugs were worn and dirty; Clothing and belongings from previous stay (or resident) were left behind to greet us on arrival (I threw away disposables, left clothing in closet); shower mat was wet and dirty; cable tv was in and out continuously; internet connectivity HORRIBLE; cell service was minimal; golf cart rental was rickety; whole stay just seemed very antiquated as an experience - like there was no consideration that guests may need to work remotely, stream, Zoom, etc. It felt less 2024 and more 2005 for lack of a better analogy… some guest may appreciate the “disconnectedness” of that type of experience, but for me it was isolating and extremely inconvenient driving a (rickety) golf cart to civilization (Baytowne Wharf or Grand Blvd) for a “real internet signal” (my hot spot wouldn’t even connect due to poor cell service in the home -Bayside). It is what it is… but I’ll stay (and purchase long term) Lakeside from here on out. I never had any of these issues in tri-yearly stays in San Destin.
Bayside Neighbors and San Destin Locals were telling me connectivity is MUCH worse in the high season, which makes sense - as Bayside probably doesn’t have the infrastructure to support cell, cable and internet service, and they’re probably at the “end of the line for splitting”. So much growth…
