Why Judyth Reichenberg chose Pucón
We happened upon the land above Romance del Lago in 2005 while on a sea kayaking trip in Pumalin Park in Patagonia. Our journey ended in Pucon, where an undeniable series of coincidences led to our buying what we know now to be one of the most spectacular view properties in Pucon. Six years later we were able, through a circuitous series of events, to buy the adjoining property. Amor del Lago was so popular with guests that we decided to build one more cabana. We found the perfect site and, with an upcoming trip to the Sacred Music Festival in Fes, Morocco, the decor seemed exciting and natural. Judyth's art form is color and interior decorating, so she has been in heaven decorating Romance del Lago!

Superbly fitted rural idyll in stunning location
During a month in Chile staying at Romance was one of the highlights of our trip! Judyth was great to deal with very prompt to answer all my emails and to give helpful and positive responses to my numerous questions. The house is warm and welcoming equipped to a very high spec - the cooker and the washer/dryer are of top quality, and the house is decorated with wonderful brightly coloured furnishings collected from Bob and Judyth's travels. The beds in both rooms are very comfy and the shower was hot and plentiful. There is a good wifi signal. I have to give the deck a special mention- large with four comfy loungers and stunning panoramic views across the lake at the front and framed by the majestic volcano behind. There are sheep horses and birds in the fields. So relaxing and a complete contrast to bustling Pucon only ten mins drive away . The track from the main road to the house is rough in parts takes around 6 minutes- at this time of the year we were fine with a saloon car.- probably better with 4 wheel drive outside the summer months . We never tired of the endlessly changing panoramas at different times of the day. There were some glorious sunsets! There is much to do and see in the area - we were there in Feb which is the busiest month - as long as you time your trips out well the traffic is ok - leave fairly early and return around 5.30 -6.-00 - we only had one long journey when we returned around 8.30 on a Friday evening.
Should we return to this area we would love to stay again at this special place.
Thank you SO much for the lovely and thorough comments. We are thrilled that you had such a wonderful time at Romance and appreciated all of the amenities and special touches. PLEASE come back and tell your friends!

This beautiful home away from home had everything we needed and more. Wonderful hosts.
The cabin (more like a beautiful small house!) was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, (and warm when it was wet and cold outside!) The views of the lake and volcano (and grazing sheep nearby) are peaceful and memorable.
Dear Malia and Dan,
We so enjoyed hosting your delightful family. Your girls are adorable and so fortunate to be on your year-long family journey. It made us quite happy to know that you found Romance to be a home away from home... that you loved the special touches in the kitchen as well as the washer/dryer. How wonderful that you could home school the kids from our cabaña. And that we could lend you the perfect Isabel Allende book to enrich your Chilean experience!
Rest and recuperation or experiences for the more adventurous, you've got it all here.
In need of a complete rest John and I booked Romance del Largo for 2 weeks, we could not have chosen a more suitable location. beautiful views of the Lake and Volcano . An abundance of wildlife that was wonderful to observe, Kestrels, Ibis, nuthatches ( I think) and other birds kept us entertained for hours. Hares bounded around the pastures , something rarely seen in England now, had us entranced.
The house was clean, well equipped, well furnished and comfortable. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the way the house was decorated and comfortable way it was furnished. The owners were very helpful.
Whilst we chose to rest and recuperate the nearby towns of Pucon and Villarica had everything to offer for those wanting more exciting experiences. The town of Pucon had plenty of supermarkets and shops for provisions. The Chillians we met were delightful, helpful, interested and interesting people.
All in all a wonderful experience for us which ticked all the boxes for a great holiday.
You two fit into the PG category- Perfect Guests. Cheerful, appreciative, friendly, curious, open-minded, kind..... and you gave us a great lesson in full out relaxation! In this digital world of full on activity, distraction, and go go go, we so enjoyed giving you a beautiful, tranquil retreat to catch up on your much needed R and R! And we enjoyed spending an evening doing a men's group and a women's gathering. Thank you so much for coming! Come again sometime!
My husband and I, and our three adult sons, had a marvelous time at Romance del Lago. The house is situated on a hillside dotted with sheep, rabbits, and interesting birds, and looks out to a stunning view of Lago Villarica. We arrived in rain but awoke on our second day to an impressive view of Volcan Villarica. The Moroccan furnishings were lively and lovely, the bedding was very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was great to be so near all that Pucon has to offer, but to be completely away from the hustle and bustle of a busy town. The place is a great launch pad for adventure, and also a wonderful place to sit still and enjoy each other's company and a spectacular view. It exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it!
Your review makes our day! We're sorry we didn't get to know you and your lovely family better. Come back!

Beautiful setting views of both the volcano and lake
Situated just above the town of Pucon in a very quiet rural setting. The views of the volcano and lake are extraordinary. You have the best of both worlds, the town of Pucon is less than a 10 minute drive away. The cabin is well appointed, fully equipped kitchen and the beds are very comfortable. Judyth and Bob are great hosts and have great tips to share on the area. Dishwasher and washing machine available on premises.
You were great guests! You made the most of your stay: hikes in Huerquehue, Termas Geométricas, climbed the volcano! You and your friends from last year are following in our Canadian guest tradition!
Cozy, scenic, perfect
This place was amazing! So peaceful and romantic. Great views of volcan villarica and the huge lake, sunset and sunrise are gorgeous. Great property, it really feels like a true escape. Only minutes from downtown Pucon. We walked into town and took about an hour, all downhill. Friendly locals are happy to give hitchhikers a ride. Going to need a car or a brave taxi to get back to Romance del Lago though. If you're in Pucon this place is a great place to relax and enjoy the countryside.
Also the caretaker, Nelson, is super nice and will not hesitate to make sure everything is perfect for you. He had a fire ready to go in the fire place and a bottle of wine when we arrived.
Wonderful that you had such a terrific (and, we hear, romantic since you proposed to your sweetie the same week) stay in Romance. It's no accident that we gave the cabin that name! Everyone tells us it's an oasis of tranquility and beauty. Actually, taxis come up all the time (as well as guests with and without 4x4s). The neighborhood is about to install two new, spiffy cement bridges. Our caretaker's son is a taxi driver and comes up to their house (up the hill from Romance) every day for lunch. And, he is happy to arrange transportation for any of our guests who don't choose to rent a car. Even to take guests on excursions to termas (hot springs) and other sites outside town.
Pucon is known internationally as the adventure capital of Chile and attracts tourists from around the world. In the heart of the Chilean Lake District, Pucon is a gateway to Patagonia (four hours south). This stunning region is filled with national parks, hot springs, volcanoes, lakes, equestrian, hiking, fishing, cycling and all kinds of adventure opportunities. Pucon has over 50 restaurants, numerous tour and sports companies, live entertainment seasonally, and unlimited shopping.
