Our visit has been so nice and even though the weather was a bit challenging (Michael was pushing through), we chose to roll with it and relaxed in the rockers overlooking the beautiful N Fork River, reading and listening to the rain on the tin roof❣️ We ventured out, with umbrellas in hand, to explore downtown Abingdon one rainy day and again, a few evenings, for dinner at The Rain and The Tavern. Both meals were delicious but our favorite was at The Rain. Since hiking was not an option we took some wonderful rides through the countryside, using backroads with minimal cell phone coverage, so there was that bit of adventure trying to find our way in and out of the hollers and back home again. Really fun!
The cabin itself is old and very rustic, but perfect for that setting and we loved it! It reminded us of some of our first visits to the Old North State and Appalachia and the reasons we are so glad to have returned to these beautiful hills after being gone for 7 yrs. We would certainly choose to come here again but hope for a little more sunshine. Still, it was nice to know after all these years, we could still make our own!! Thank you, Jeannie, for you hospitality!
Private and serene

The cabin was very cozy, clean and very relaxing. The front porch is wonderful with the slow moving river flowing right below. There also is a great sense of history about the cabin and the nearby abandoned cabins as well. If you like privacy as I do you will be very content here.
Jeannie was very responsive to a couple of questions we had. She also has added a nice homey decorating touch and a well equipped kitchen.
We would certainly love to return there some time.

Quiet and peaceful! We enjoyed sitting on the front porch looking out over the river.
As avid bikers we thoroughly enjoyed our rides along the river as well as the creeper
