Photos and Description of this Llíber holiday villa

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6.

This villa has some of the most spectacular views in the area. Positioned in 863sq/mtrs. of landscaped gardens with olive, lemon and fig trees together with an abundance of shrubs, it is a perfect setting for a wonderful Mediterranean

holiday. Ideal for family, golf, water sports, sailing, mountain biking, walking. horse riding, mountain climbing and hiking, or simply relaxing and 'getting away from it all'.

The villa which is on a flat plot, is south facing yet because it is tucked away on a hillside it is situated in one of the most peaceful, tranquil and stunningly beautiful positions overlooking the village of Jalon, which in itself is surrounded by almond and orange groves, and vineyards.

The villa which is all on one level is totally enclosed, gated and private. It has a large balcony with comfortable dining furniture, accessed directly from the lounge, with wonderful views over the pool, patio and gardens, and the Bernia mountain range beyond.

In late January and February when the almond trees are in blossom with pink and white flowers, the perfume fills the air, and is wonderful to see from the balcony. Outside the kitchen there is also an eating area (again with lovely views) ideal for alfresco dining, a glass of wine whilst cooking or an early/late evening bbq. There are steps down to the pool which is surrounded by 70sq/mtrs of patio area where you will find plenty of room to relax and sunbathe privately under the Mediterranean sun or the shade of the garden There is ample parking as the villa is built on an end plot so has no passing traffic

Inside the spacious lounge most windows take in the fabulous views and they all have shutters. There is a 32' flat screen TV with English channels, a DVD and CD player. The lounge has two ceiling fans. In the dining area a bookcase houses a selection of good books, novels, cookery and information booklets. The kitchen is fully fitted with oven, 4 hobs, hood, fridge-freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, serving hatch to dining area. The master bedroom looks out onto the side garden. It has a king size bed, a large wardrobe, bedside tables, chest of drawers, chair, overhead fan and an en suite shower room. The second bedroom looks out onto the pool area and mountains. It has a double bed, a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and a chair. The third bedroom also looks out onto the pool, patio, and the mountains. It has two single beds, large wardrobe, cupboard and chair. All bedroom windows have a shutter and fly screen. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a family bathroom that has a toilet, sink, bath and a shower over.

The old spanish village of Jalon (Xalo) with its' population of 3,301 (2012) inhabitants is situated in the Vall del Pop in the southern part of the Marina Alta. It is a fertile land with agriculture mostly based on the cultivation of grapes and almonds. So it is traditionally a wine making area with a bodega known as the cooperativa standing towards the Alcalali end of the village which produces the wines grown locally. Namely muscatel white wine, mistela (sweet muscatel) rose wine and young and matured red wine.( The Cooperative can be visited daily and the wine can be sampled and purchased bottled or direct from the barrel.) In September you can witness the harvesting of the grapes and watch in wonderment the old carts and horses and carts of every description taking the grapes to be weighed and sold at the bodega. This splendid sight can be seen from our balcony and goes on for over a week.

The tradition of home made products thrives in Jalon as you wander through the village admiring the displays in the shops suitable for every taste and budget. The village has a wonderful selection of restaurant where you can sample the local dishes, paella, embutidos(wide variety of sausages) vino de casa,(local wines) menu del dia (meal of the day) alongside an interesting assortment of shops, gift shops,(such as the honey shop), antigue shop, newsagents, banks, butchers, bakers and quite an assortment of small bars. Every Saturday morning a 'rastro' is held in the car park, stretching all along the river bank. All sorts of wares are sold, and well worth a Saturday morning browse! The fresh fruit and veg. market is held in and around the village square each Tuesday morning.

During the first week of August the Fiestas take place when there are exhibitions, processions, parades, floats, bull running and open air dancing at night. In October a huge paella is held in the square with traditional dancing, fireworks, parades and again open air dancing at night is seen.

Golf: Golf plays an important part in the area, you will find first class courses at Sierra de Altea, Golf Ifach de Benissa, Oliva Nova Golf, Golf Club la Sella near Denia, Club de Golf Don Cayo in Altea Hills and Golf Javea. The mild Costa Blanca weather makes it possible to play all year round.

Jalon Valley was a great base to explore the surrounding villages, countryside and the coastal "hot spots". We particularly enjoyed Denia Town for evenings out. It had a little bit of everything; lively restaurants and street markets down by the harbour and the fishing quarter, great Tapas in the Old Town, fantastic ice cream parlours and a lively evening vibe - predominantly Spanish, more so than some of the neighbouring resorts but with a cosmopolitan feel.

Jalon was a nice quiet haven to spend the days between beach excursions but sprung to life in the evenings as our stay coincided with the local fiesta - which was a lot of fun.

The Villa had a lovely feel to it, the rooms had a nice "flow" and were simply and nicely furnished. The pool and terraces were fantastic with lovely views down the Jalon Valley and over the surrounding mountains. Beautiful sunsets and ever changing views as different cloud formations built over the mountain peaks - depending on the heat and wind direction.

David and Jan have obviously spent a lot of time on the garden which is full of beautiful planting.

We had not stayed on an Urbanisation before however, as it was only a small Urbanisation with the plot positioned high on the hill and on the edge of the Urbanisation, the villa had the feel of a rural and secluded retreat but with the security of neighbours.

Perfect Spanish Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 12 day stay at the most beautiful and tranquil villa location. We were a party of 3 (myself, my husband and our 3 year old son) and we can't wait to visit this holiday home again!

On arrival at the airport and once in our hire car, we found the directions to the village really comprehensive and it took less than an hour to reach the villa. We arrived just in time for our first sunset and it was spectacular! The villa is nestled on the side of the mountain with stunning and far reaching views, not only do you look over the village of Jalon, but you can see a number of other villages that are dotted within the valley. The mountain range itself is also magnificent, and as the village bells chime every hour they echo gently in the evening breeze which makes a very relaxing sundowner!

The villa was spotless but still very homely and welcoming. The bedrooms were a good size and beds really comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped which is essential when you have a small child/ children, and whilst there is a vast number of restaurants we did eat in the villa some evenings. The lounge was really comfortable too with 2 large sofas and a television - that we tried not to use - but was quite handy for our son when packing up our daily picnic! The private pool was a real luxury and very private, no other villas look over the pool terrace. My favourite spot however, which is very hard to choose, was the balcony and sitting looking out over the amazing vista.

The freedom of having a hire car also added to our holiday experience. We were able to drive into the mountains and visit a number of the reasonably priced restaurants and admire the views that stretched to the coast. We also visited a number of different and gorgeous beaches. The big rock at Calp was interesting because of its National Parc status, great seafood restaurants too. Xabia was adorable with its working fishing port and again great seafood restaurants, our son was captivated when the fishing trawlers came in and offloaded their daily catch. Moraira was our favourite though with a gorgeous gently shelving sandy beach, close proximity to the town, and twisting winding narrow cobbled streets filled with bars, tapas restaurants, tasteful gift shops and very family friendly vibe.

To summarise this was a fantastic family holiday destination, 12 days was just the beginning of what we hope to lead to more Spanish adventures!

Just Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This property is a little piece of paradise. Perfect for our young family. Absolutely stunning views and a short journey to Jalon.

The villa has everything you need and more. Very comfortable beds, all with lovely views. Fabulous pool and terrace area, perfect for BBQ and watching the sun setting over the mountains.

We personally feel it is the best plot on the site, with great car parking and not being over looked at all.

Our family cannot wait to book again for next year.

Beautiful villa with breathtaking views

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a fantastic week away at this lovely Villa and we are missing it already. Beautifully appointed at the top of a quiet urbanisation above the village of Jalon the views are breathtaking. It is close to local ammenities and all you should need.

We travelled as a family of two children aged 8 and 10 and three adults, one of whom was in his 70's. The villa made an ideal base for this mix of ages. The children were happy to splash around in the pool whilst Grandad watched from the balcony! The pool itself was great to swim in and it was a privalege to be able to have a quick dip before breakfast. I was struck by how clean it was and the villa itself was all very clean and up together. It has all you need including a dishwasher and washing machine. The lounge was spacious which was great to keep cool in the mid afternoon. Our favourite part of the Villa was however the balcony - where you could sit in the cool of the evening having a peaceful drink and a game of cards looking over the valley below - magic!

Jalon itself is a lovely unspoilt village. We hit it at Fiesta week which was great fun - lots to see - parades, children's games, bands etc. Wish we were there next week as there are going to be bulls running down the street. Jalon is also renowned for it's Bodega's where you can sample wine before you buy. It has a honey shop selling local produce, market days Saturday and Tuesday...and apparrently people come from miles away to buy meat from the Jalon butchers.

There are lots of lively bars and restaurants, a chemist and a local medical centre.

Venturing further afield there are some famous prehistoric cave paintings in the hills, beautiful safe beaches at Moira, Calpe and Denia (about 30 mins away) - we enjoyed several beachdays. Most are green flagged beaches with lifeguards - although you can find some quieter, pretty coves along the coast should you prefer. We had a fantastic day out at the Algar falls where you can swim in the pools....very cold water, and visited the historic village of Guadalest. There is lots to do in the area should you choose and if you have time! - the bigger resorts such as Calpe offer snorkeling and scuba diving and ferry trips. But one of the most telling reactions about this week was whenever the children were asked what they wanted to do the answer was "please can we go back to the villa - play cards and have a swim?" A fantastic holiday - thank you David and Pat.

Luxury villa with stunning mountain views

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a 10 day stay in this wonderful villa. Perfect location situated on the front corner of the mountain. Nothing in front but stunning mountain and village views, and the pool area is private and perfect for relaxing in peace.

We were told when we booked that there maybe slight building works to the villa next door during our stay. When we arrived we were delighted to find the villa has now been completed which meant total privacy. We had beakfast evey morning on the balcony, taking in the views and planning our day. The house itself is very comfortable and the ceiling fans help to keep cool in the night. The lounge has a nice leather couch to relax and read, ideal for the kids to cool down and watch a dvd or one of the many sky channels available.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Jalon village, and a couple in the nearby villages which are literally a 2 minute drive out of Jalon. We ate somewhere different every night and were pleasantly surprised by most.

The beaches at Moraira and Calpe are close by, only a 15-20 minute drive down to the coast and are both well worth a visit. We spent 3 full days at Moraira beach which is worth the drive alone just for the views. There are a number of beaches to choose from in Moraira, all close to one another ranging from golden sands to rocky cliffs. There is plenty for children to do, play areas with slides and swings to pedlow boats or volleyball on the beach. Take your own drinks down there though as they are pricey on the beach.

All in all this was the perfect holiday for my family. Just the right distance from alot of lovely places and a villa that has everything we needed. Leaving this place was sad, but we are booking to stay here again next year so something to look forward to.

Thankyou Dave and Pat

The villa is perfectly situated in a 'get away from it all' situation on a flat plot on a hillside overlooking the tranquil Jalon valley, Jalon itself and the Bernia mountain range beyond, yet close enough to visit the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts of, from the north, Denia, Javea, Moraira, Calpe, Altea, Albir, and of course Benidorm and all it's attractions. The closest beach resort is Moraira, about half an hour away with Calpe a close second. Alicante airport is just over an hour away by car, and Valencia airport would take a little longer from the opposite direction. The whole area of the Jalon valley is well known for it's abundance of good and reasonably priced restaurants, most of them being in the next village of Alcalali. The villa overlooks vineyards, olive, orange and lemon groves and fields of almond trees, and at certain times of the year the air is full of the aromas of the various blossoms. The 'Bernia' range is an absolute walkers and ramblers paradise.
