Heaven on Earth!
We had the best, most relaxing time at the cottage! The long driveway in was the first indicator of how wonderful this place was going to be. The cottage itself was amazing with it's historical awesomeness. I actually gasped several times while walking around it - I just love old houses. We LOVED walking down to the dock in the evenings. The grounds were just as beautiful as could be. The hosts could not have been kinder. It felt like we were staying with family. We loved visiting Nuttall's and getting some yummy food. We tried crabbing for the first time! We left the Cottage refreshed, rested and feeling so incredibly lucky that we found this place. It's rare for a rental to be so much more than you were expecting but this place delivers. We didn't have a single complaint and don't hesitate to recommend the Cottage to anyone!
Mandy, it was such fun having you all here. We are glad to see folks who are willing to try new things like crabbing! It gives us pleasure to have guests who enjoy historic properties and the beauty of nature.
Beautiful and cozy cottage in forest near lake
Loved staying in this beautiful cottage! My husband, daughter and I enjoyed the surroundings, nature, lake, town, etc.. We drove to Yorktown to spend the afternoon and had wine and jazz music in the cottage in the evenings. Thank You!
It was lovely having the three of you on the property. I hope to meet you next time since my husband said what a nice family you were.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautifully serene little paradise. It was so comfortable and well prepared. The aesthetic "vibe" reflects a personality of subtle sophistication and connection to the beautiful surroundings. We'll be back. For those reading this review, be sure to visit Nuttalls store, right down the road, for some of the best chicken salad you've ever tasted.
We are so glad you enjoyed the property. We have an historic picture of our area with a sign in the photo that says "The Land of the Life Worth Living". Indeed, this is a wonderful place to unplug and recharge.
The cottage was charming. The views from the pier was stunning. John and Peg's hospitality made us feel welcome.
We crabbed, fished, canoed and boated.
Most important were the memories made with my wife, niece and daughter.
Your family did it all. You even dug clams! It was so fun having folks on the property who have a true appreciation of nature and all that this area has to offer.
Recently stayed 2 nights at this lovely cottage whilst visiting my daughter in Gloucester. Tucked away from the main road, this cottage is so cozy! It just begs you to sit down and put your feet up and read one of the many books provided or listen to wonderful CD music from the vast selection provided. Cottage is well stocked with dishes, etc in the kitchen for cooking up a meal.
The bed upstairs is so downy soft that I slept fitfully which isn't always the case when I'm away from home. Peaceful, serene, a short walk to the river dock and obviously so well cared for...what more could you want? I plan to go back! Book it..you won't be disappointed!
My husband and I stayed here for our 10th wedding anniversary and fell in love with this cottage. It has all the amenities you need, the owners are really nice and welcoming. It was wonderful to walk around the property and see the gardens and being able to use the kayaks at our leisure. We hope to visit here again soon!
We are in a lovely rural setting and yet close enough to Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg to enjoy all they have to offer including historical tours, amusement parks,
Farmers markets and fine dining.
