Come and spend your vacation in this quiet, peaceful setting on the Ware River. The estate boasts 290 ft of shoreline. This charming and historic 2 story cottage sits on 7 acres located on the Ware Neck Peninsula. The cottage has hand hewn post and beam construction dating to approximately the 1790s. There are fireplaces in both the living room and bedroom. There are ceiling fans in the bedroom and on the front porch. Just in front of the cottage is the restored icehouse built in the late 18th century and used to store blocks of ice brought from up north by steamboats down the Chesapeake Bay. The water front is a short stroll and has a pier with a floating dock. This is a perfect spot for watching beautiful sunsets while enjoying a glass of wine, fishing, crabbing or launching your canoe or kayak. The Cottage is 70 min from Richmond or Norfolk, 2 hours from DC, 45 min from Williamsburg, 30 min from Yorktown and 20 minutes to the Arts community of Matthews. It provides a great home base for exploring this beautiful and diverse region of Virginia.

We loved our stay, the cottage was very comfortable and welcoming.
Peg and John were great! Look forward to a return visit.
Exactly as the description and photo project! Although we were in and out and did not stay around during the day we absolutely loved this place. Very easy to find and very well maintained. We will be back to relax around the property!!!
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again.
The cottage is charming and very peaceful!
My husband and I celebrated our 9th anniversary at the cottage and we LOVED it! It was our first trip to this part of Virginia but we will be back. Peg and John are wonderful, gracious people who made us feel welcome and right at home. We enjoyed the property with morning walks and evenings on the peer. The cottage is beautifully restored the only problem is the porch swing . . . DON'T sit in it because you will never want to get up :) If you book this cottage you will not be disappointed. Thank you Peg and John for a wonderful stay!
We were so honored that you chose us for such a special occasion. I have had the same feeling about that porch swing!
Nice, quiet atmosphere. You can truly sit back and enjoy the natural surroundings.
We celebrated our 2nd anniversary here. The property grounds were well kept. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean. We were impressed with the old character and architecture mixed with modern amenities. We were able to do some fishing, crabbing, and kayaking right from the properties pier. It’s great that everything you need is provided for those activities. The nearby Nutall’s General Store has some of the best BBQ my husband has ever had. John & Peg are a wonderful couple. They were hospitable and respectful of our privacy. They made sure that we were taken care of after the remnants of hurricane Michael on our last night. By the way not a beam in that sturdy cottage shook during those high winds. We were impressed! Will definitely come back!
We felt lucky to have guests who had a sense of adventure when the remnants of Hurricane Michael came through with much more ferocity than was anticipated. Luckily we came through with no damage to any people or buildings on the property.
Quaint and enjoyable
Very quaint and comfortable. Beautiful property. Great location from which to explore the area. Owners very nice and personable.
Perfect Honeymoon Getaway
My wife and I had a lovely stay in the cottage for our honeymoon to see Williamsburg. The cottage, dating back to the colonial period, is expertly restored, combining old charm with modern convenience. It's located on a beautiful, historic property right on the Ware River. It has a very cozy secluded feel, while still being within easy access to local shopping areas. The Historic Triangle is only forty-five minutes away. That might sound long, but the drive is very pleasant and the privacy Glebefield affords is work it. Peg and John are very kind and considerate. They gave us updates as to the weather conditions beforehand in case Hurricane Florence hit Virginia. Overall, I couldn't recommend a stay at the cottage enough. It's a wonderful place hosted by wonderful people.
We were so flattered that you chose our cottage for your honeymoon. Since you booked about a year in advance, we were relieved that hurricane Florence missed us and you were not forced to change your plans. The drive to Williamsburg is, as you mentioned, lovely along the Colonial Parkway with views of the water, the marshes and the forest. We hope to see you back again.
We are in a lovely rural setting and yet close enough to Yorktown, Jamestown and Williamsburg to enjoy all they have to offer including historical tours, amusement parks,
Farmers markets and fine dining.
