Private, Modern, Clean 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest house with great views in Poipu.

This Gorgeous Guest House is in Poipu Beach, on the Sunny South Shore of Kauai.

There are Elevated Ocean and Mountain Views. This private and quiet home is close to the beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, golf and hiking.

This is not a condo or apartment like the vast majority of the Poipu Listings. It is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, separate guest house. The main house is located on the opposite side of the property.

This guest house has a modern kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, expansive black granite counter tops, a Breakfast Nook, Powerful Wireless High-Speed Internet, Full-Sized Private Laundry, Large Couples Hot outdoor shower (two shower heads), Private BBQ, Air Conditioner in the Bedroom, Espresso/Keurig/Drip Coffee Machine, 60" HDTV with Netflix Service, Danish Tempurpedic California King Bed, mid-century teak furniture etc.

•There is only One vacation rental in this cottage, so your privacy is assured.

•The living space is located on the top or 2nd floor. This includes 1 Private Bedroom, 1 Walk-in Closet, 1 Full Indoor Bathroom, 1 Large Open Kitchen / Living Room / Dining Room, 1 Lanai (Balcony.)

•The first floor has a large, Twin Head, Hot Water, Outdoor Post-Beach shower, a private full size laundry room with side-by-side washer, dryer and sink, and a garage. The Garage is only used for owner long term storage and back house parking, and the garage use is limited to 8AM-8PM only.

•Walking distance to beaches (18 minutes to closest beach) or just a 3 minute drive to Waiohai beach or 4 minute drive to Lawai Beach, both of which have ample and free parking.

•Sueoka's Grocery Store is a 6 minute drive.

•Koloa Fish Market is a 7 minute drive.

•Kauai Coffee's Estate, The largest in the US and home to 4 million coffee trees, is an 18 minute drive.

•Costco or Times Supermarket in Lihue is a 25 minute drive

•Lihue airport and car rental companies are a 26 minute drive

•Despite some of the reviews, I do not provide snorkeling gear, boogie boards or other water gear.

OTHER:

•10.25% of your total bill is paid directly to the state of Hawaii as a transient accommodation tax and 4.166% is paid as a general excise tax.

•So if your total bill is $1000, I will pay $125 and $41.66 respectively to the state of Hawaii, in addition to HOA, property and state taxes.

•I lose money on each and every cleaning. My cost (not including supplies) is between 145 and 185 US per clean. Kauai is one of the most expensive cleaning locations and I have, I believe, the best cleaners on island.

I enjoy organic cooking, reading, and trips to the beach. I grew up and attended college in Beijing. Before making Kauai my home, I worked and lived for over 10 years in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia.

Why Paula chose Poipu

The Poipu Beach Estates community believes that green open spaces is more important than development and density. As a result, you won't suffer through the typical space constraints of the hotel district in Poipu Beach. If you like your space, quite, and privacy, this is the cottage for you.

This custom built house has beautiful mountain and ocean views, and refreshing breezes day and night. It is also very close to the best beaches, restaurants grocery (Kukui'ula shopping center is just around the corner), sightseeing, with a golf course (The Kiahuna golf club) also literally next door.

The house is fully loaded with amenities and it is brand new (April 2014 construction completed), so you can be assured it is comfortable and relaxing. I have included all items necessary for cooking, washing, dining, and more importantly trips to the beach !

What makes this guest house unique

This is not a condo but a private cottage in an exclusive community.

It is brand new, quiet, clean, and provides Ocean views from the balcony and Mountain views from the kitchen.

Hale O'Neita is close to the best beaches (Waiohai, Lawai beach and others), restaurants (Merriman's, Josselin's Tapas Bar & Grill at Kukui'ula), Shopping (Kukui'ula next door), Golf (Kiahuna next door), Hiking (Waimea Canyon.)

A really nice place, exactly as pictured and in a perfect location. Awesome kitchen and terrace. We even enjoyed the small water views for the terrace and it was so serene and relaxing. Perfect kitchen for people who enjoy cooking, great grill, comfy bed and gorgeous mid-century modern furnishings.

Private, quiet and clean.

We stayed in this rental unit one month.

There are many nice things about this rental. The unit is smaller than the photos make it appear but very livable for one or two persons. This rental was extremely clean. We took full advantage of the deck with morning coffee and evening wine and dinners. The sunset from the deck was nice and there is a small ocean view. Looking to the north you can see homes on the hillside in Kalaheo. We felt safe being on a second floor with a sturdy coded entrance door, the deck sliding doors also locked.

A large very comfortableTempurpedic mattress was a big plus. The bathroom was ok but a non-slip shower mat would have been nice, we used a towel. The kitchen was functional and the appliances newer. A small breakfast counter was used for a computer. The SW side of the rental, deck, did get warm in the afternoon sun and we had to keep the blinds closed. The air conditioner in the bedroom made it pleasant, it would be too warm inside without it. The large TV was enjoyable, the front room furniture was attractive but uncomfortable. There is construction in the area with its accompanying noise but nothing that would cause any distress.

A three star rating was given because:

During our first week we found 4 out the 7 kitchen counter outlets that did not work along with a defective GFIC receptacle, probably the cause. The microwave surface light bulb did not work. I contacted the owner who told me that things could not be fixed because there were no handymen available?

A week later the legs on a coffee table were falling off rendering it unusable. On Super Bowl Sunday the bbq propane ran out, the spare tank was also empty? A broken flame diverter bracket and bbq lighter also needed replacement.

I contacted the owner again who responded quickly; they said housekeeping will come with some propane and a new lighter which they did the next day but added everything else will not be fixed until after we leave. We still had almost two weeks left on our stay so we felt that this rental was not their first priority. In comparison, having stayed at two other places in Poipu on this trip, a handy person was sent within 48 hours to address the issues.

This is a nice rental and we were disappointed in the failing of keeping this unit in good repair, especially the defective GFIC. So, when things are fixed we would recommend staying here but not under the unrepaired conditions we encountered.

Owner's Response: This guest has seriously bent the truth so I decided it warrants a response. The statement below is patently false: "I contacted the owner who told me that things could not be fixed because there were no handymen available? ". What I said was, we're arranging an electrician but they are in particularly short supply on Kauai so if not a critical issue, we can schedule one in 3 weeks. The guest responded it wasn't critical as there were plenty of other outlets available in the kitchen (we have a huge number arranged for convenience.) Regarding the propane, indeed the tank was low and we arranged a replacement the next morning. Regarding the coffee table, it was in working condition before this guest checked in. The house is impeccably clean and well kept. But for electricians in particular, it takes time due to supply and demand. This is a guest who simply isn't honest or sincere.

This location is truly a 5-star accommodation. It offers extras such as: privacy, beach chairs, beach umbrella, coolers, snorkeling gear, beach towels and more. Fully stocked kitchen - all you need are groceries. Feels like home away from home.

Great property perfect location for us!

Nice spot in Poipu. Clean, comfortable and nice sunset views. Paula was very welcoming when we arrived and prombt in replying

when we had a question. We enjoyed our visit here and will rent this property again! The place has everything you need. A treat for us

was the rain shower head and what seemed like instant hot water in the shower. Loved that :) We walked to the beach every morning.

And the Living Foods Market is just a short walk away as well. Perfect spot!

An ideal place to stay

It has taken me some time to complete this review, because part of me wants to keep this amazing place secret! We rented for 3weeks in 2016, and we've rebooked for 4weeks in 2017. The apartment is clean, ideally furnished and equipped. It's just large enough for two people. It is bright and airy, and the cooling breezes come through without the need for a/c. Thank you Paula for this great place!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hale O'Neita. The location was perfect for access to Poipu Beach, Shipwrecks Beach, and other hot spots on the South Shore. Paula went to great lengths to make sure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we needed. She also made recommendations of things to see and places to go, as well as items to bring, best grocery stores, medical facilities, etc.

The description provided on VRBO was very detailed and accurate. When I arrived I almost felt like I had already been there before! I would definitely recommend this property to visitors of Kauai!

Perfect

Loved the unit. Is upstairs over a garage which means there is no one around you like a hotel would be. Very quiet neighborhood. We walked down to the beach but if you want to actually use a beach the best one is about 2miles away.

Unit was very clean and appointed as described. Paula was very responsive by text although we had no need for help she did check in with us several times. Nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. We come from very dry environment so air conditioning at night was very nice. Loved the porch for early morning coffee. Could not have been better.

Full Guest House Rules:
*Always stay by the stove, BBQ, and water faucets when in use. Always turn them off when done, and check they are off when you leave.
*Absolutely no smoking or drugs are allowed anywhere on the property. Evidence of either will forfeit the deposit.
*Park only at the right side, in front of the one car garage. Spaces are tight so please leave room on the left for the long term guest's 2 cars.
*Check out is 10AM or earlier. Kindly check out on time as our cleaning company needs the full 5 hours to hot water wash and clean everything..
*Check in is 3PM or later.
*I unfortunately can't accommodate earlier check-ins, late check-outs, luggage storage or related.
*No loud noise past before 8AM or after 8PM. Washing and Drying hours are the same.
*No Parties, Receptions, Gatherings or Luaus of any kind are allowed. Out of respect for my neighbors, I kindly ask that no large parties or groups over 3 people come to visit you at Hale O'Neita.
*Limited to 2 overnight guests
*No Pets
*Per Hawaiian customs: Kindly remove your shoes before entering and place them just inside (for rain protection) or outside the 1st floor entrance.
*Turn off the indoor and outdoor lights and air conditioner when you leave.
*Kindly close the bedroom door, windows and sliding doors when you are using the air conditioner.
*Do not pour grease, glass, bones, banana peels, paper, sand, utensils or anything hard or oily down the garbage disposal. Place grease in a glass jar provided in the cabinets, and when full and cooled discard it in the regular trash bin.
*Properly scrub all dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, and only use the cascade Pods for soap. Please wash all dishes by departure time, but you can leave them in the dishwasher.
*Please Clean the grill grates after each use with the provided scrubber. Additional costs can be incurred if the grill isn’t clean.
*Only toilet paper goes down the toilet. Anything else could forfeit the deposit
