Great owners, very easy to get a hold of and a very clean property. Cool to spend a night in the marina - would stay again in a second! Don't hesitate to do business with Chris.
This property was such a wonderful break for everyday life. The boat was exactly as pictured and the marina was nicer than I had imagined. During the day we went and swam in the Mississippi and after we had our dinner on the top of the boat. A perfect getaway.
Too cute to pass up!
The boat is adorable! Roomy and comfortable for 2 adults and 1 teenager. It was clean and well taken care of, but remember it’s an antique, and very quaint. The “neighborhood” was quiet and peaceful. Great movie selection for rainy nights. The host recommended a lovely restaurant for my partners birthday and we had a spectacular feast. We would definitely recommend this rental to friends!
I travel to the TCs multiple times a year and usually stay downtown. Staying on the house boat was a great change of pace. First of all, the location is fantastic. You are close to many amenities but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Very close to the airport. Good restaurants close as well. I even stopped into a couple DDD joints!
The interior of the boat was very nice and couldn’t stop marveling at the hard woods. At the time of my stay there wasn’t any cable but there’s a TV with DVD player. The TV does have a HDMI imput and I hooked up my iPad for some Netflix. Keep in my this boat is older and has some quirks. I did plan ahead knowing this wasn’t going to be like staying in a hotel. The owners did have extra shampoo/conditioner, towels, dishes, hangers, etc.
Chris, the owner, was very responsive and made sure what to expect. I’d definitely recommend staying here again and was worth trying something different.
Beautiful and peaceful
We had a great time! Thank you!
Disappointing location, nice boat
The boat was very clean and the marina where it's located is OK. However, the boat is much more surrounded by other boats than I expected from the picture. It felt like we were sitting in a boat parking lot. If the pictures had shown the true location, we probably wouldn't have stayed here as we hoped to be enjoying nature and seeing the river.
The boat itself was reasonably maintained, but not pristine. Some of the inside lights didn't work and I found some of the clutter on it a bit depressing, such as a broken umbrella hung up on the back of the door and a big messy shelf behind a curtain. But overall it felt very clean.
The marina had absolutely zero wifi when we were there too. The owner had described it as "spotty" but I don't think it was on at all.
The shower and bathroom facilities at the marina were nice, and the only hitch we experienced was a truck driver who parked his truck outside with the engine running and was in the men's room on Saturday morning for at least an hour. So, there might be unauthorized people taking advantage of the facilities? The gate to the marina was left open the whole time we stayed too, so security was not as good as it could be.
There are multiple pictures of the boat in different locations. The cover photo clearly states the houseboat is currently at the St. Paul Watergate marina. There is another photo showing the boat at the marina with other boats around it that clearly states that is the current location.
The closet mentioned is a utility closet and there is no reason to be in there. As to clutter, there are about 12 books and 12 DVDs for guests, and an umbrella in case it rains..
It is helpful to look at all the photos and read the descriptions, looking at one photo and not reading or understanding that a marina will have other boats can be avoided. The houseboat is at the end of a dock and is as isolated as you will be in a marina, see other reviews.
There is marina personnel at the marina for security and the gate is sometimes open during busy weekend hours but closes at night.
The marina wifi may have been down when the guest was there but she did not notify me of it, I could have requested a reset.
