About Judy Valentine

Jim and Judy operated a sign shop, Val-U-Signs, in Oak Ridge, TN from the mid 80's until 2006. When we retired, our son purchased, and now operates, the business.

I guess we couldn't stay retired because here we are starting another business. In 2005 we purchased a Crestline modular home and erected it on our property in Norris (8.6 acres). We lived in the home until early 2012. It's a lovely home, but more space than we need. We subdivided the property, moved another house next door and now live there.

Over the years we have done quite a bit of entertaining in the Rabbit Run house. Plus there was one wedding and one memorial service. It really is a perfect place to have a gathering.

We chose the name because we have had a rabbit rescue here for several years.

Our rabbit rescue pen has become a home for chickens, two rabbits, and a guinea pig. Our granddaughter, Charlie, is an animal lover; and chickens are her current favorite. We still have a house rabbit in our home. He is a white dwarf named Marshmallow. There are also four cats--they are all gentle, and they may come to visit the Rabbit Run house yard.

Judy Valentine purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Judy Valentine chose Norris

It's a lovely and peaceful place. When we purchased the property in 1997, we wanted to be in the country without being too far from civilization. It's just a few minutes to drive to walking trails, streams, Norris Dam and Norris State Park.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Only an hour away from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, the retreat is 16 miles north of Knoxville, TN--just minutes away from Norris Lake, Norris Dam, the Clinch River, Appalachian Museum, U.T. Stadium, hiking, biking, and horseback trails.

Shopping, restaurants, and easy interstate access are all close by.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Had a great time there at Rabbit Run Retreat with a great group of Veterans and the program for Veterans, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. Allowing us D.A. Veterans to come together and capture a little R & R, do a little fishing and be around a lot of great people. Thanks again and look forward to the next event. Sincerely, William (Charlie) PHWFF M'Boro, TN

Just like home

  • 5 of 5

Many thanks for the opportunity to stay at Rabbit Run Retreat. We found the house very comfortable and offered plenty of space. Hostess Judy greeted us with a lovely arrangement of fall flowers and she was most friendly. Good location for TN games and the dam and park are close. Highly recommend for group gatherings. Thanks again we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.

Just Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Rabbit Run is just as lovely as it looks in the online pictures. And Judy is the perfect hostess even inviting our 4 year-old grandson into her home to meet Marshmallow, her pet bunny. She also welcomed us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a reminder to let her know if we needed anything.

It was the perfect place for our family gathering: a well-equipped kitchen, a tree swing, a fire pit and wood, places to gather to visit, places for private chats and lots of beds to choose from. We had meals outside at the picnic tables, in the sun room across the back of the house, and in shifts at the kitchen island and table as people got up at different times. Just like home!

It was very clean and welcoming. All you need to do is bring your favorite food, your favorite people and enjoy!

WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual Cousin Camp at Rabbit Run this year. Our children and grandchildren were there. Judy Valentine, the owner, was very accommodating and even greeted us with a floral bouquet. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. There was lots of floor space and plenty of beds. We prepared all of our meals there in a kitchen that was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. The fire pit on the patio was perfect for making s'mores in the evening. The house was close to many of the activities we chose to do such as the Norris Dam, Norris State Park with a lovely pool, Norris Marina, Chunky Monkey for delicious Mayfield ice cream and even for the morning we spent at the Norris Health and Rehab Center doing a service project. Give Rabbit Run a try. We think you'll like it!
