About Jim or Carman Taylor
Welcome to the Roberson family farm - my parent's' legacy to my brother and I. It was from this beautiful place that I was launched into the culinary field both in education and career. In 1997, I returned to the homestead to care for my Mother and to fashion the next chapter of my life. I purchased the building and moved it to the site and set about making it a haven for myself. After Mother passed, I tackled the original farmhouse eventually moving in there when Jim retired and moved to the farm. I am deeply connected to this land, this area, this paradise. There is much maintenance on a farm this size and of course one must pay the "taxas on Tara" I had thought to sell some acreage, but the realtor I was working with suggested VRBO and thus began my newest career. It is my dream to pass along the farm to my beautifu l and talented andl daughters. It is a blessing to share homecoming with my children, grandchildren and friends. I feel the land calling to me, I hear the word enduring, I hear my Mother playing the fiddle, and I hear my Dad calling "Baby Snooks" time to come in. The preparation for inviting guest to the cottage opened my eyes to the abuncance of flora and fauna, the natural beauty that surrounds us. Blooming abundantly are wildflowers, wild herbs, berries-black berries, wild black rasberries, elberberries, wild blueberries, and black walnuts trees. Deer, wildturkey, rabbits, grouse and occasional bear can be seen. There are nights when the cottage is empty, so Jim and I take advantage and enjoy the night coming down, the moon rises, and the river sparkles like diamonds and its quiet and there is peace
Jim or Carman Taylor purchased this Cottage in 1997

What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage has a Little Tennessee River view that is very restful. The River is one of the few that runs North. Bring your fishing pole to try your luck at a great catch .There 4 private waterfall on the property, several walking and log mountain trails to follow. The private streams have lots of minerals as ruby and specks of gold to pan. The afternoon sunset are of different colors and changes very fast with each view more beautiful. Enjoyed a piece of paradise!
Carman and Jim are awesome owners with wonderful hospitality and know how to make your visit peaceful and special. The cottage is just the place to unplug-you don’t even have to leave the property to enjoy waterfalls, hikes and connect with nature! We are looking forward to returning!
This place is perfect!
Staying at the cottage was the perfect way to spend our honeymoon. We loved arriving to fresh flowers, champagne, and pound cake! There was no question the place was clean. The fire pit, rocking chairs, swings, trails, and views were all well loved and enjoyed! Comfortable bed, plenty of kitchen supplies, coffee in the cabinet, and even a grill all helped us feel like we were “home.” This is an AMAZING property and I would recommend it to anyone!
A great retreat or get away place
If you are looking for a nice place to get away from hectic life then this is the place.
We loved this place. The cottage was adorable, with so many nice touches. We loved the fresh flowers in every room, the way the place was decorated (we are going to try to purchase the blanket that was on the bed!), the jars of jam for sale at a very reasonable price, the homemade pound cake and fresh vegetables that were there when we arrived. We had coffee on the porch every morning with the sounds and sights of the birds; we enjoyed hamburgers from the charcoal grill (better than gas!); and loved the daily visits from Ava, a sweet fur baby. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, don't look any further. Jim and Karman have thought of everything and are wonderful hosts.
NOTE: This place has waterfalls, lookout towers surrounded by mountains, antique/salvage shops and excellent restaurants nearby! You can research your own things to do, or ask Jim and Karman for suggestions. All their suggestions were spot-on!
Nice, clean, and quiet place
Enjoyed our time. Thank you for letting us stay.
Carman and Jim made us feel like family.
The cottage exceeded our expectations.
From the minute you unlock the door you feel at home. Homemade poundcake and a special treat awaited our arrival. Along with special places to go, Carman and Jim left us their favorite dining places, sites to see and what happens in town. The two of them made us feel welcome the minute we booked our stay and kept in touch with us to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. Our highlight was meeting the family and friends and made a connection that will last a long time. We are ready to book our next stay.
Suggestions: signs to the waterfalls and how to find the community gardens.
Thank you from our family to yours for making us feel so welcomed and loved.
