About Jim or Carman Taylor
Welcome to the Roberson family farm - my parent's' legacy to my brother and I. It was from this beautiful place that I was launched into the culinary field both in education and career. In 1997, I returned to the homestead to care for my Mother and to fashion the next chapter of my life. I purchased the building and moved it to the site and set about making it a haven for myself. After Mother passed, I tackled the original farmhouse eventually moving in there when Jim retired and moved to the farm. I am deeply connected to this land, this area, this paradise. There is much maintenance on a farm this size and of course one must pay the "taxas on Tara" I had thought to sell some acreage, but the realtor I was working with suggested VRBO and thus began my newest career. It is my dream to pass along the farm to my beautifu l and talented andl daughters. It is a blessing to share homecoming with my children, grandchildren and friends. I feel the land calling to me, I hear the word enduring, I hear my Mother playing the fiddle, and I hear my Dad calling "Baby Snooks" time to come in. The preparation for inviting guest to the cottage opened my eyes to the abuncance of flora and fauna, the natural beauty that surrounds us. Blooming abundantly are wildflowers, wild herbs, berries-black berries, wild black rasberries, elberberries, wild blueberries, and black walnuts trees. Deer, wildturkey, rabbits, grouse and occasional bear can be seen. There are nights when the cottage is empty, so Jim and I take advantage and enjoy the night coming down, the moon rises, and the river sparkles like diamonds and its quiet and there is peace
Jim or Carman Taylor purchased this Cottage in 1997

Carman and Jim made us feel like family.
The cottage exceeded our expectations.
From the minute you unlock the door you feel at home. Homemade poundcake and a special treat awaited our arrival. Along with special places to go, Carman and Jim left us their favorite dining places, sites to see and what happens in town. The two of them made us feel welcome the minute we booked our stay and kept in touch with us to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. Our highlight was meeting the family and friends and made a connection that will last a long time. We are ready to book our next stay.
Suggestions: signs to the waterfalls and how to find the community gardens.
Thank you from our family to yours for making us feel so welcomed and loved.
Quaint farm cottage
Great location! Close to activities, but with a quiet secluded feel. The front porch was the perfect place to sit and relax. The trails and falls back behind the house were lovely and fun to explore.
We had an amazing time! Carman left us the most delicious pound cake! Our girls loved hiking, playing in the stream, and playing with Ava! Can’t wait to go back!
Not far from town while still feeling secluded. Owners were prompt to make sure we had everything we needed to make the stay wonderful.
Carmen & Jim's beautiful & tranquil cottage is the perfect getaway. There are special touches of flowers, homemade pound cake & jams that welcomed us when we arrived. We had a few cooler days but he cottage was cozy & toasty. Those cooler days were followed by a few hot days but the air conditioning worked perfectly! The porch was comfy & provided us with wonderful views of the mountains. Hiking to the falls on the property was fun & our dogs even got to slop in the water. We were looking for a secluded getaway & this was heaven on earth! Thank you Carmen & Jim for your hospitality. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I stayed for our 35th anniversary. Carman had a sweet card and bottle of wine waiting for us. The house was very clean and so cute!
It was humid the last night of our stay and we tried to turn on the air, but it wasn’t working. It wasn’t a problem we just ran it on fan. At checkout they want to know of any problems so they can be fixed. I let them know and they were gracious in offering 2 nights on them when we come again. Not necessary but another reason they are such great hosts!!!
Thank you for letting us know . Air conditioning expert fix the same day we were informed on May 14.
