About Simon

We moved to Greece with our 3 kids in 2005. We have built a small tourist accommodation business and our family home, within a 2 acre olive grove facing the sea, to get 'back to our roots'.Living and working closer to the flora and forna of the Mediterranean in a wild and rugged environment, and offering our children an alternative experience.

After the adventures, mishaps and wonders of the initial couple of years, we are now settled into our seaside village life.

We take a pride in cultivating and caring for our 200 majestic olive trees. Pruning and shaping the form for optimum health.

The fruits are harvested by the whole family in late November and all the local groves are a whirl of activity. We bag up the olives and take them to the local press where we enjoy the lively banter with the other farmers. The cold press extraction produces a liquid gold extra virgin oil that is second to none!

Simon purchased this villa in 2004

Why Simon chose Messinia

We have developed a love for this unspoilt corner of Europe and take great pleasure in hosting guests from all over the world. We intend to help facilitate you enjoying a great holiday in this truly wonderful area which has something to offer all ages.We live onsite and are available for any advise or recommendations. It is of the utmost importance that we provide our guests privacy and quiet in a safe and clean environment, so they have the possibility to enjoy a memorable holiday. BOOK NOW AND RECEIVE 20% DISCOUNT FOR ALL SUMMER HOLIDAYS.

What makes this villa unique

All our farming activities from: harvesting, feeding and maintaining our 200 olive trees, vegetable garden and fruit orchards incorporate organic and permaculture methods, helping in maintaing healthy soil and minimize water usage. All garden plants are endemic and selected to have minimal water requirements and are watered using a drip system, again conserving water wherever possible. Our chickens are free range and aid us in sharing the kitchen waste with our compost bin as well as providing enormous tasty eggs. As often as possible we use recycled materials for outside building projects ( greenhouses, pergolas, raised vegetable beds, walls, paths, animal shelters, tree houses etc) often combed from beaches when storms have delivered timbers. We have restored and converted a stone store room to form the master bedroom of one house using local methods, craftsmen and materials. Our swimming pool incorporates the most energy efficient filter system and liner. Thus enabling us to keep her filled with water even in winter and only having to refresh the water by a third instead of 100% every spring.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful area

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Seabreeze Villa for a week in early July. The weather could not have been better. The Villa was perfect for our family of four. The pool is delightful and has a stunning view to the sea. We used it mainly in the mornings and evenings. During the day, we enjoyed the spectacular beaches at Gialova and Kaloni. (There are other nice beaches closer to the house, but these were the best.) Our hosts, who live on the property, were helpful, friendly, but unobtrusive. We highly recommend this Villa.

Fantastic week at seabreeze villa

  • 5 of 5

We loved Seabreeze villas - easy location to find but off the beaten track. Simon was very helpful with suggestions to meet our needs and provided us with fresh fruit and veg from his garden. We particularly enjoyed stargazing from the roof terrace and relaxing by the pool. We also enjoyed the company of Ali the dog and the geckos. Methoni castle and other castles in the area are worth a visit as well as trips to waterfalls. We would definitely recommend and consider returning. Keren

Superb Villa in a Spectacular Location

  • 5 of 5

The villa was beautiful and well equipped in a peaceful location but within easy reach of the delightful town of Methoni. Simon and his family were most welcoming, greeting us with olives, water melon and lovely fresh eggs. We needed to arrive a day before our scheduled arrival date due to complications with our previous accommodation and Simon happily sorted this out for us after a quick phone call. He was always happy to offer us local advise on beaches and restaurants.

We did not think we would want to use the pool much, but we actually used it nearly every day. It was a great facility to have. Our friends stayed in Simon's other villa, which facilitated a good two family holiday. I would happily stay there again if the opportunity arose.

Amazing place to visit

  • 4 of 5

This was our first trip to Greece and it didn't disappoint. The first week we spent Kayaking which was wonderful, then great to have a villa to stay in right next to our friends. Lovely villa in an olive grove and swimming pool to share too. As previous reviewer already said stunning area to explore and great snorkelling. Would love to come back and explore some more, possibly in the spring to see even more of the flora and fauna. The villa was just right for our family of four, comfortable and clean, with lovely views. Our host Simon and Idit were friendly and welcoming but unobtrusive. They gave us some lovely olive oil to try as well as fresh eggs. (We would have taken away some olive oil if we hadn't been travelling light.) We cooked in and ate out. Both great. I think our only gripe would be feeling that you need a car to get around! But that is just us. Bicycles would be good.

Owner's Response: Thank You for the warm review. It is always a pleasure when two families stay in our 2 villas and can enjoy quality time together on holiday. If you make it back to Seabreeze in the Spring or Autumn to enjoy the carpets of wildflowers, also when the weather is more bicycle friendly, I can recommend somewhere for bike hire. Regards Simon.

Beautiful, tranquil & rustic villa

  • 5 of 5

We found this villa through and were happy to find somewhere that matched our search for a family-run, low impact holiday dwelling that still felt relaxing and nourishing for the soul! This villa is very beautiful, and the small touches left by owners Simon and Idit were much appreciated (candles, fresh lavendar, mosquito coils etc). The villa is attractively designed with lovely photos and paintings on the walls and fairy lights strung outside on the verandah for ambience. Their swimming pool is lovely, with sea views from the sun deck. We loved staying close to a family, as it made our stay more meaningful and we enjoyed talking with Simon and Idit about life in Greece. Their homegrown extra virgin olive oil was a treat, and the fresh eggs from their chickens were very welcome. Our daughters (2 & 4) loved the tree houses in the garden, and we appreciated borrowing some books and toys from Idit, as we were travelling light (obviously, from the UK!). I would definitely recommend this property to friends or family. In terms of the surrounding area, we went in May, which was low season, so very quiet. Many tavernas and restaurants were already open (although a few had yet to stock ice cream until the season really kicked off!). The Greek people we met were very welcoming and generous. We found a good fruit & veg shop in Methoni village that stocked all kinds of good food (much better than the supermarket) so we cooked a lot and enjoyed all our meals outside. The beaches are pretty: however, if you want "pristine" white sand then you should go later in the season, as early on in May there is still lots of dried twigs and vegetation (bamboo-like plants) scattered over the beaches. This did not bother us at all but some people may prefer to wait for June, when many beaches have been swept and cleared of this. The water is beautifully clear and turquoise: but for good snorkelling you need to swim much further out, or do bespoke boat trips to actually see much sea-life. In terms of other sights to enjoy, we found some beautiful waterfalls in this region, and visited the ancient ruins at Myceni. There are many pretty villages, monasteries and old forts and castle ruins to explore. At the nearest beach to Villa Gaia is a little beach bar and a swimming pool, staffed by lovely Greek guys, playing chilled music and a great bar service!

A very nice environment, good accommodation, clean, very comfortable

Great friendly hosts who gave a very nice welcome with olives, bread and fruits, super!

We felt very welcome, but at the same time had enough privacy to feel comfortable with our family. Beautiful views and idyllic scenery in an olive garden.

Great facilities close by for activity and rest and a pool in your backyard
