Overview

About the property

A/C 3500 Sq. Ft. Level Entry Home With 3 Bedroom, 3 Bath, 2 Living Areas

Our home is your home. We offer you a sprawling 3500 sq. ft ranch style home with level entry and walk-in shower for guests that have trouble negotiating stairs and bathtub access. The property encompasses 1.5 acres and there is plenty of level parking and easy year round even with snow.

The home has many attributes to offer including newly installed central A/C and heat. In 2017 we installed all new laminate wood flooring throughout living areas and bedrooms. Bedrooms: One king and 1 queen bed located in the large master bedroom, 1 queen bed in the bedroom located off the hallway, 1 full and 1 twin sleeper sofa located in the office and plenty of room to accommodate two deluxe queen air mattress when needed. 2 queen beds located up in the loft bedroom. There are 3 very nice sized bathrooms that are tastefully decorated. A full bathroom is located in between the office and the master bedroom. There is another full bathroom off the hallway next to the hallway bedroom. Upstairs in the loft area there is another full bathroom. A large living area with a wood burning stove and a bar that leads out to patio/deck area. There is queen sleeper sofa in living room with the new, improved memory foam mattress which is actually very comfortable to sleep on. WiFi internet and cable TV are available for your use. A very large kitchen with every gadget imaginable and all new stainless steel appliances that includes a huge refrigerator and ice maker. The kitchen has an RO water system installed so ice and drinking water taste great. No need to haul drinking water. A huge plus for Ruidoso! An open floor plan between the kitchen and dining area provides plenty of sitting for all. The dining area also has a wood burning stove for your enjoyment and beautiful log stairway that leads to loft area.

The home also has radiant in-floor heating throughout so there is a constant comfortable heat without the noise of a heater kicking on and off. Since the home is located right next to the river, it stays very cool in summer but central A/C and heat is available if needed. There is a large laundry room for your use if needed. The hot tub room is situated closest to the river and has built-in surround sitting benches and lots of windows that provide a light, airy atmosphere that makes a perfect place to curl up with a good book. The deck is built over the river and has lots of seating available to enjoy under the canopy created by the huge ash and walnut trees. It is so peaceful and secluded- and makes you feel as though you are in your very own paradise. The patio is next to the deck and has a BBQ grill with propane included, patio tables and a fire pit where we enjoy sitting by the fire in the evenings while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and breathing in the mountain air. The grand kids love this spot. At the front of the house there is a covered porch where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee and watch horses and chickens and 2 dwarf Nigerian goats (Tripod and Grover) start their day or do some bird watching with the numerous finches, hummingbirds and robins that frequent the area. We have a large yard with lawn and flower bed areas and has been described as an oasis by many. This home has been a work in progress since we bought it in 2004 and we have customized it with ideas originating from homes where I spent my younger years on ranches in northeast NM. Summer of 2015 we added a volleyball area and horseshoe pitching pit both with sand and a mini basketball cement court. All game accessories provided. We would love you to come and experience some ranch hospitality at Racetrack Rendezvous that is located at 112 Highlands Lane, Ruidoso Downs, NM. If coming from Roswell direction take Service Ln. on right that is just past the bronze statue horses of the museum, turn right on Joe Welch and go past blue Sports theater building and across the river. Turn left on Highlands Ln and proceed to 3rd house on left (112 Highlands Ln). If coming from Alamogordo or Ruidoso direction head east on Hwy 70 passed Walmart and right passed racetrack look for Sport Theater and Veterinary Hospital sign and Franklin Veterinary Clinic on the right--turn left onto Service Ln. and proceed to Joe Welch and turn left and go passed blue building (Sport Theater) and cross the river then turn left on Highlands Ln to 3rd house on left and you have arrived at your destination.

About NETTA COLEMAN

I grew up in the northeastern part of NM and had the opportunity to live/work on several different big ranches in the area where one learns that there is never a stranger at your doorstep. There is always plenty of coffee and grub for anyone that may show up. I am a lab tech at a local hospital and my husband is a commercial electrician that travels lots with his job. We have several long term rental homes and all of a sudden the Golden years started to creep up on us so we decided to use our home as a vacation rental which is way too large for the two of us, to help pay off things since those sneaky Golden Years are obviously not going to go away.

NETTA COLEMAN purchased this house in 2004

Why NETTA COLEMAN chose Ruidoso Downs

If you want unique and comfortable (no cookie cutter design) then this is the place for you. After much searching for a property when we moved to the area in 2002, we finally found this little piece of paradise. After coming from the flat country of NM, we wanted some flat so we wouldn't have to battle steep terrain constantly but yet also wanted trees and the mountain feel and look. We wanted something somewhat rural but yet close to town and that is exactly what we got. We never even knew this subdivision was here those 2 years since it is tucked down in a canyon next to the river. We love the climate here in Ruidoso and all the unique charm that it has to offer so we began to make it our new hometown and have not ever regretted the decision. We have put lots of little extras into the home and property and it will always be a work in progress probably because of the dang HGTV shows. So come enjoy all the little extras.

What makes this house unique

This house is so sprawling that it accommodates huge crowds easily. There is plenty of separate areas that groups or individuals can retreat to for a quieter atmosphere if they wish. It seems as though there is plenty of space for all without the cramped, crowded feeling. We liked the fact of 1.5 acres on the river in a quiet neighborhood and several groups have enjoyed fishing out of the river with some success. Tripod and Grover, the dwarf Nigerian goats love attention from anyone who will give it to them. Kids seem to really enjoy interacting with them.

We had an awesome time!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was very accommodating for our family. We had plenty of room to spread out and not get in each other's way too much. The hot tub was a favorite after long days of sightseeing. Grandkids enjoyed feeding the goats. Caught 3 fish which was exciting for the little ones. Would definitely go back to this house!

The owners were great if we needed anything at all they were there for us.

Thanks for allowing us to spend some much needed family time together ! It was awesome 6 nights.

Owner's Response: Jean and family, You all were great people to host. Guests always seem to enjoy Tripod and Grover (the goats that are big hams for attention). Glad to hear you caught some fish for the little ones to enjoy a fishing experience at Racetrack Rendezvous. We always love hearing our guests had a great time at the property and we are pleased you were able to rest, relax and visit with family. We thank and appreciate you. Ron and Netta

beautiful home away from home

  • 4 of 5

We had a weekend stay with our adult children and their children. 7 adults and 2 youngsters and we had ample space for all, never felt to be getting under foot. The home is very comfortable and cozy, and feels like being in a home, not a rental. Everything was very comfortable from the furniture to the temperature. We enjoyed spending a sunny afternoon relaxing on the huge back deck and having a fire to enjoy it in the evening. The hot tub was a nice relaxing break. The only thing we missed was being out in the woods a little more with more areas to hike but we were still able to comfortably get out and get some exercise. And the river running below the property made up for the lack of woods. The owners are very attentive and made sure our stay was good.

Owner's Response: Deborah, Thanks so much for your review of the property. Unfortunately the forest fire wiped out lots of the woodsy views on the mountain that the property faces however just a block down there is access to undamaged forest to hike in the woods. We also have access to a park with great walking trails that meander along the river that is just about a block away also. I found your review very useful and plan to update the house book with points of interests located nearby. Much appreciated, Ron and Netta

2 museums and 2 casinos located within 5 minutes. Breakfast/lunch favorites Tina's cafe, Cornerstone Bakery, Village Buttery & Pena's. Dinner faves Cattle Baron, Farley's, The Ranchers, Grace O'Malleys Pub & K-Bob's. Smokey B's restaurant located at Apache Travel Center/Casino has great food. Recreation: Fun Trackers have miniature golf and other activities. Numerous golf courses nearby. Inn of the Mountain Gods is a must-see. Apache ski resort and many hiking trails in the area. Spencer theater is about 15 minutes away for live entertainment. Vast array of shopping available in Midtown Ruidoso. Ruidoso Downs Racetrack where racing season begins Memorial Day weekend and last through Labor Day Weekend. The All American (the richest Quarter Horse race) is ran on Labor Day. Explore all the natural beauty Lincoln National Forest has to offer. The Iris Farm in Hondo Valley is a few miles down the road. Many art galleries with local talent are found throughout the area. Biker rallies are held in May and September and for added historical adventure- take a drive out to White Oaks and experience the 'No Scum Allowed' bar. For your dancing pleasure, Ruidoso has the Win, Place and Show bar for country western dancing and The Quarters for the younger crowds music taste. Grace O'Malley's Irish Pub has a unique menu and is a fun place to try. One of my favorites is their Irish Nachos. Bet you haven't ever had anything like 'em. The Flying J Wranglers is a very nice dinner show for some good ole country music and entertainment. The meal is excellent and it is reasonably priced so the whole family or group can afford to enjoy our local talent. Area lakes include Grindstone lake and Bonita Lake both of which offer good fishing and just experiencing what nature has to offer. Lots of wildlife can be seen along the way. A drive up to Ski Apache during all seasons is absolutely breath taking. One cannot imagine the vast distances and the views that can be experienced atop Sierra Blanca at 12,000 ft. above sea level. The drive to Ski Apache is 21 miles and is about a 45-50 minute drive, depending on traffic and weather. The Inn of the Mountain Gods offers fishing, golf, gambling, entertainment and great food in a gorgeous setting. This is a must see location.
