About this property

Cabin with nice views, hot tub, & sauna. Fantastic summer adventure!

Located on an overlook above Angel Fire, NM is the “Allouette 9305” home; a perfect mountain retreat for an exceptional vacation with the family or a small group of friends. Allouette 9305 is a 2100 square foot, spacious 3 bedroom, 3½ bath home located just minutes from the town center and all of the activities that Angel Fire and the Enchanted Circle have to offer! The home comfortably sleeps 10 people on two levels. There is sleeping for a maximum of 6 adults with children filling in the balance to 10 total people.

On the lower level is the master suite with a queen size bed, full bath, and walk-in closet. Upstairs there are two bedrooms; each bedroom has a queen bed, a twin bed, twin trundle bed and a full bathroom. Each upstairs bedroom sleeps four (two adults and two children).

The 1300 square foot wrap around deck will quickly become the center of activities at the house. There is a 6-person hot tub on the deck with great views of the southern Moreno Valley. In the summer and fall, watch the morning sunrise with a cup of coffee and newspaper on the southeast side of deck with an expansive view of the Cimarron Range of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Following a busy day of outdoor activities, enjoy a late dinner amongst the lightly wooded west side of the deck with glimpses of the Moreno Valley. After dark, lay back and relax on the deck while looking up at the heavens watching for shooting stars or passing satellites! I cannot describe how truly amazing the sky is when there is minimal light pollution and dry, thinner air in the mountains! After dark you could also choose the use the outdoor fire pit! The fire pit is great for making S'mores, ghost story tellin' and memory making.

The great room features a vaulted ceiling and a stone fireplace with a gas log-lighter. On each side of the fireplace are large, energy-efficient picture windows offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Comfortable updated couches and chairs make for great conversations and relaxing or playing games with friends. There are several built-in bookshelves that are stocked with books of various genres along with a desk for those that need a place to catch up on some work or email. The home is equipped with 100mbs WiFi access throughout along with two TV's. There is a 50" LED TV/DVD in the great room while the loft has a 21" TV with a PS2 game station/DVD player.

If you enjoy cooking, you will love the spacious open kitchen, which features all major appliances including a gas range, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. There are five stools at the kitchen bar where guests can sit around the kitchen chatting while a pot of New Mexico style chile (chili if you are not from New Mexico) simmers on the stove. We have left a delicious recipe for Green Chile in our recipe exchange book in the kitchen.

The dining area is directly off the kitchen and seats 8 at the updated table. The dining room has outside views; while eating breakfast you may look out of the dining room window and see mule deer or other wildlife walking outside the home.

In addition the hot tub on the deck there is a four-person, cedar lined dry sauna available in the home.

For our winter guests you will find the tiled entry to the home a convenient spot for removing snow covered winter clothes. It has room for storing your skis, ski boots and ski clothes in a main closet. In addition, the full size washer/dryer is located just off the entry so putting wet ski clothes in the dryer is easy!

Allouette 9305 is a very convenient location for families of scouts or scouters attending Philmont Scout Ranch! The home is about six miles as the crow flies from the southwest corner of the Philmont property and about a one hour fifteen minute ride to the main base camp area.

You can also view pictures of activities at the 'Allouette 9305' Facebook page!

No matter what season you come to Angel Fire, we hope you enjoy your stay at Allouette 9305!

Relaxing
The cabin is located about 15-20 minutes up the mountain after the turn off from Angel Fire. Nice cabin with good views of Carson National Forest! and you can see the top of the ski mountain from one of the turns. The cabin is nice from the outside and overall clean on the inside- I think there could be a bit of deep cleaning, but just my opinion. The cabin is fully stocked with essentials to cook, clean, or feed the birds. The sauna and hot tub is an added bonus! I think the master could use a king bed and the shower pressure in all bathrooms could be better, but what is available worked. The host from the beginning was very very responsive to my questions and even followed up with multiple local area activities. Thank you for that!! We spent a lot of time in eagles nest at the lake-caught a few fish from the boat and drove into Red River for some horseback riding at Red River Stables- recommend. Stopped at Comanche Brewing small little brewery with friendly service and great prairie views. Thank you for sharing your space!

Great
Great property! Tons of space and wonderful amenities! The drive to the property is a little challenging, especially when it’s snowing, but they do a good job plowing and cleaning the roads off.

Scenic, cozy & well stocked
We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. My daughter and granddaughters enjoyed the sauna and hot tub after a day on the slopes and frequent visits from does who ate from my granddaughters hands! The house had beautiful scenic views and was very well stocked with everything we needed.

Like staying at your own house
My wife and I were celebrating our 46 anniversary and I didn't want to be in a cramped condo. I wanted a house. A house with views and a hot tub. It might seem weird but I wanted our week to be just like we were in our own home albeit at 9K feet up in the cool New Mexico air. This house delivers! Everything you need is here, from tools to tissues to soap to, well, everything. It's just like you are at your house. We have used VRBO for years and this owner is the best we have ever rented from. Almost immediate responses to any question you have. They are committed to you having as much fun as they obviously do with their home. They truly have thought of everything. I will say this, be prepared for the distance from town. Yes, it is only ten minutes down the mountain to the slope but after a full day of whatever, it is sometimes hard to pull yourself out of that hot tub and back down for dinner. Also, we are foodies, and to our liking the Angel Fire eating options are limited. We solved this problem by arranging to eat in Taos which is only a 30 to 40-minute drive from Angel Fire. Still, prepare for the inevitability of NOT wanting to leave. With a full kitchen, you can manage. All in all, this is an incredible house with a super responsive owner who has thought of everything!

We are an active, outdoor-oriented retired couple. We love activities such as skiing, backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, golf, fishing. Inside, we enjoy country western dancing, cooking and are wine enthusists. Both of our children have graduated from college; our oldest studied at Princeton and our youngest studied at Texas A&M and both are in Seattle. We've lived in Austin, Texas for the past 30+ years loving it all the time.

Why they chose this property

Bob first came to the area in 1975 as a boy scout attending a trek at Philmont Scout Ranch. Years later we came to the area as a family to enjoy skiing at the areas in Angel Fire, Red River and Taos. Bob and our youngest also attended Philmont in 2009 for a summer trek and in the fall of 2011 Bob went back for a Rock Climbing Director training program. The Angel Fire area is a spectacular year round area for outdoor enthusiasts.

What makes this property unique

Convenient location close to town yet far enough up the mountain to feel away from it all and enjoy the exceptional views.
