About Louise Senneff
Stu and Louise Senneff. Stu grew up in south Florida and Louise in west Texas, but we now live in southwest Florida.
Louise Senneff purchased this House in 1995
Why Louise Senneff chose Hiawassee
Stu's parents built this house and we inherited it. Our family has spent many happy times here before and since, and we love the mountains and the lake. We want to keep the house for our family to continue to build more memories and to share this great place with others.
What makes this House unique
Truly, the lake and the mountains, whatever time of year you come, will call you back. Sit out in the screen room, or dangle your legs over the dock, or shuffle your feet through the bright autumn leaves walking in the fog, or snuggle up next to the fire and watch the snow fall...it won't matter, you will be taken by the beauty and the peace and the history of this place, by the fun times you will have while you are here and by the desire to return for more.

Perfect family lake getaway
We had 11 in our party. The house had plenty of room, great location, beautiful lake. We basically lived in the water for 5 days. The kids had an absolute blast. We planned to day trip into Helen or other local places but had such a great time at the lake that we only went 1 day. We ended up tubing the chatahoochie river, and visiting babyland general hospital, but were eager to get back to the house to spend time on the screened in porch and swimming. The place was well stocked, games (indoor and out), plenty of towels and linens for our large group, cabinets and closets were labeled (which I haven't encountered before but thoroughly appreciated), local menus, etc. We're already planning our return trip. Oh, the sunsets, birdwatching in the yard, and watching the fish swim around the dock were seriously unbeatable. We truly appreciate you sharing your home with us. We made some seriously amazing memories.
We are so pleased Dogwood Hill became your “new favorite place” to visit in the mountains and that we could meet your needs. It is a beautiful, comfortable and entertaining vacation spot! Come back soon!
Amazing view. Charming and helpful owner. House dated but comfortable and with all you need.
When we arrived we were amazed how the house was better then the pictures for once
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and that you have told us you will be back! I enjoyed working with you.
Relaxing lakefront house
This was our first trip to Lake Chatuge and after many hours researching different lodging options we ended up choosing this gem. Louise was easy to work with and the house was exactly as described. We stayed for a 4 nights in late Aug and rented a ski boat for 3 of the days. All 6 of the kids were in the water just off the dock within an hour of arriving in the evening. The next 3 days were spent mostly on the lake doing a variety of water sports. The house fit the needs of our large family nicely. There were plenty to towels, plenty of sleeping space, and a well stocked kitchen. With good wifi and multiple different areas to relax, all of the kids were entertained when not on the lake. The fire pit by the lake was also a hit with several nights of smores. We had to find some kindling to start the fire but larger logs were already there. It was a good opportunity to watch the boys struggle with some fire craft. When we did have some rainy weather, the walkout basement was a welcome retreat with foosball, pool, and ping pong to name a few activities. All of the beds were extremely comfortable and the house left few things to improve. I would caution the steps going to the basement are steep and shallow with a simple railing not suitable for older or younger children. All and all, having stayed in many homes, this house was a great choice for our family with a perfect location for a lake retreat during any season!
Wonderful home on the lake
Louise was very prompt with her emails. We absolutely loved our time here, the sunsets on the lake were stunning. We will definitely be back!
The house is situated pretty close to town but not right on top of anyone. You have a picturesque view of the lake and mountains that allow for a stunning sunset. Dock is convenient and easy to swim off of. Chairs are provided that you can move to the dock or around the fire pit. Lots of amenities for kids (or husbands that can't sit still!). House was large enough for all six of us to fit comfortably. Screened in porch was perfect for reading or napping. We adopted a cute neighborhood cat while we were there and used just about all the amenities they had to offer.
Everything was labeled really well throughout the house and we liked that you had basic spices. Cable and wi-fi worked great and the informational book at the entrance was easy to follow. It was obvious they had tried to think of everything a family might need, which is good because we cooked every meal.
The house isn't "updated" in the sense that it's not "modern" decor, but it was clean and Televisions were large flat screens. Reminded me in some respects of my grandparents. I could understand why someone would hang on to the property. There is no way you could beat the views from this place! Full frontal windows that face the water and the space. It's a win all the way around.
Thanks for your great review! You really “get” why we, and so many other loyal Dogwood Hill fans, love this spot on the lake! Cozy, comfortable, beautiful, entertaining, convenient...what more could you ask for?
Great house on the lake!
The home was really clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We brought our boat and having the dock made it so nice to be able to get up early and head out to fish! We would definately stay here again!
Thanks for the kind words! We try hard to think of what you might need during your stay and make it available. Having the dock right there is nice, isn’t It? Fishing on the lake is true relaxation....
There is such a wide variety of things to do in the area, from winery trails to horseback riding, to 'antiqueing', to autumn foliage, to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, great restaurants, and of course the lake and watersports. What a gorgeous and entertaining place, any season of the year!
