Peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
Such a great place to get away and relax.
Perfect Getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was rustic and located in a beautiful setting, just a short walk or drive to the river, plus all the comforts of home. It was really nice that they had games and puzzles and toys for kids too. We are already planning a return trip for next summer!
Perfect
We stayed for 4 days at the cabin. It was the perfect getaway place for us. The cabin is secluded in a beautiful valley. It is an old cozy log cabin with plenty of space to sleep in 2 bedrooms. We enjoyed the evenings around the fire place. The Meramec river is close by with private access. The owners are very friendly and help out wherever they can. We had a fantastic time !
Wonderful Cabin
I was looking for a few days away to decompress and unwind and this place was just what I needed. About 1.5 hrs West of St. Louis, just outside of Steelville, MO in a beautiful pastoral setting was this awesome family-owned cabin.
Mike met me at the cabin and was making sure I could get TV reception, so I wouldn't miss the Cardinals playoff games. Then I was by myself with my dog, Fred, for 3 peaceful nights.
The cabin is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath building and is a true log cabin. There is a nice kitchen, living area and side porch. It has plenty of space for a large family as one bedroom has multiple beds.
The front yard is bordered by a pasture with lots of inquisitive cows. Mike said his dogs might come down to see us but they didn't while we were there. One morning we watched the deer play tag in the pasture.
A short car ride through the pasture leads to the Meramec River. There is a nice gravel/sand bar to set up chairs if you want to fish or swim on warm days. Fred and I drove down and explored but it was too cool to swim.
I was able to make calls but couldn't get voicemail or internet. If you want to work or surf the net you're out of luck. It was fabulous to truly disconnect for a few days and I highly recommend it and this cabin.
Thanks Mike and Elaine for sharing your family place with Fred and me.
State Park Weekend
Beautiful secluded cabin with access to the Meramec River. We spent 2 nights and visited Dillard Mill SHS, Elephant Rocks SP, Onondaga Cave SP, Taum Sauk Mountain SP, Battle of Pilot Knob SHS, and Johnson’s Shut In’s SP. The kids enjoyed swimming in the river and the morning visits from the friendly dogs.
Secluded
My husband and I were looking for a nice secluded getaway and found everything we were looking for.
