Contemporary Home With 3 Bedrooms & Incredible Kitchen. Feels Like a Cruise Ship

When we sold our family home down the street we moved our karma and love for the 'aina (land) here. Hopefully you will get the same feeling we have: peace, serenity and the knowledge that Pele and Kanaloa watch over the Big Island and the special piece of it we mind for them.

We bought this property six years ago and completely remodeled it from the ground up. It has state of the art finishes throughout and is meant to provide a tranquil respite for Lisha and I after we complete our work with the Foreign Service. It's a place for families to gather together and celebrate what's important.

When you walk in through the custom designed front door, you will start to see the fabulous design features and art immediately. Large spaces and endless light fill the main area which include the living room, kitchen, dining area and lanais. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen and one with two twins, on the same level.

Take the staircase downstairs and you enter the realm of the sixty by twenty foot wide Family Suite. It has a queen bed, a king size bed and a beautiful bathroom with a free standing tub. The WC is in a separate room and there is my favorite, a double shower which is also a steam room. There is a second, fully covered lanai on this level as well. I can't live without it so just outside the bedroom's side door there is a second shower looking over the ocean.

OCCUPANCY-In consideration of our neighbors and because of liability issues, OCCUPANCY AND USE OF THE HOUSE IS STRICTLY LIMITED TO THE NUMBER OF GUESTS WE HAVE AGREED TO IN YOUR RESERVATION. Other persons are not allowed on the property and there can be no loud parties at any time. Our neighbors closely monitor the neighborhood and record and report disruptive events as soon as they happen. IF WE RECEIVE A COMPLAINT REGARDING EXCESSIVE TRAFFIC, NOISE OR PARTIES OF ANY KIND YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR SECURITY DEPOSIT. We understand that many wish to have events and parties and in fact love a good time ourselves. If that is your need then our home is not the place for you.

About Brian Crawford

Camp Crawford is a moveable feast. Having spent over twenty years in Hawaii, we joined the Foreign Service in 2010 and served nearly four years in Frankfurt, two in Washington, D.C. and have been posted to Dakar, Senegal through the summer of 2019. Randall and Winston are attending Erasmus University and CSU-Ft. Collins respectively. Clarissa graduated from Erasmus University in Rotterdam after doing a semester at the National University of Singapore. She is presently applying to graduate schools.

We arrived on the 16th and left on Christmas Day just as we planned over a year ago. So much changed in a year but all conspired to bring us to this wonderful home on the best part of the Big Island. This home is very welcoming and perfectly located to enjoy the view, the sounds of the waves and the frogs. The lanai is wonderful... We spent much of our time out there. The showers and the big tub downstairs are great treats. Easy access to the Farmers Market to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, coffee, and locally made breads. The market was also a great source for wonderful presents to take back to the Mainland. Come and enjoy this place. This house is in great harmony with the essence of Hilo. Mahalo!

An experience of a lifetime

From the moment the 8 of us arrived to our Hilo VRBO to the day we left we felt relaxed and welcomed. We could not have picked a better place, view or location (just a couple minutes drive to Hilo). The home is very lovely and the view spectacular looking onto the ocean and in the far distance the red glow of the volcano - we were in awe. We enjoyed a couple of the beaches, turtles, waterfalls, a road trip to the top of Mt. Maunakea, the local food market and delicious food (Jackie Rey's to mention one). We took an ocean boat ride to see the lava flow area - it was an adventure that I think none of us could believe we actually experienced.

Owner's Response: Mahalo Laura for that update. We just left the Island ourselves last Friday and stand in awe at the destructive beauty of the Volcano. You are indeed fortunate to have been able to find space on one of the boat trips to see the lava first hand. We used to walk out to it at Kalapana but seeing it from the ocean must have been spectacular. Seeing the fountaining in the far distance from our lanai is a sight I too will never forget. We had a wonderful stay! The ocean views are outstanding! We loved how the home opens up to the ocean and you can get the nice ocean breeze. The home is very well kept and clean, with everything you could need. The beds are very comfortable.
