About this property

Our 2-bedroom, 1 bath bungalow in located in the heart of the Hyde Park/North University area. Built in the 1930’s, the house has been lovingly restored and updated. The house has lots of period details, including a screened-in back porch, hardwood floors, custom moldings, and divided lite doors. It is furnished with quality modern and antique furnishings, original art, luxury linens, and enjoys cable television and super strong wifi.

Behind the house are two studios which can be rented separately to add additional space if you have a large party. (To view the downstairs Studio, please type 477027 into the HomeAway/VRBO search bar; to view the upstairs Studio, type the number 721797).

You can enjoy the many activities and amenities in this charming historical neighborhood, which is only minutes from the University of Texas and Downtown Austin. Just blocks away is the charming Hyde Park neighborhood center, where you will find an old-fashioned grocery, a coffee house, a gelato bar, and great local restaurants. I am a native Austinite who loves restoring old houses. I bought this home when I was still single in 1995 and renovated it with my dad. Then when I married, we moved to a larger fixer-upper. Four children and 20 years later, that house is now a short-term rental also, and we have moved on to the next project. Why they chose this property

This property is conveniently located near the University of Texas, yet it is not heavily populated by undergraduate students. Instead the area is home to graduate students, young professionals, families, and senior citizens. The area has a wonderful historic feel with all the mature trees and World War II era houses, most of which have been restored and are prized by their owners. The area is very close to downtown and to so many other things.

What makes this property unique

You can rent this home alone for 2-4 people, or can combine it with one or both of the studios to offer private quarters to 2 or 4 additional guests if you have a larger party.
