About Mike and Jo Bailey
We live in Wisconsin on the south shore of Lake Superior. We owned and rented a cottage on Madeline Island in Bayfield, WI for 17 years, so we know what visitors to an area like. We have 7 of 14 grandchildren in KY so wish to visit, but are more than willing to share the cottage with you when we are not there.
Mike and Jo Bailey purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Mike and Jo Bailey chose Dunmor
We looked for a wilderness lake near our children and found a perfect kayak spot with wildlife and awesome views. This home is fully equipped with all the necessities available in city life, plus the seclusion, quiet, and privacy found only in a wilderness setting. Each of the 3 decks looks out on the finger cove. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our cabin provides solitude and luxury in a natural setting. The lake contains a wilderness reserve, with a scattering of private residences. Fishing, boating, sailing, and kayaking are primary visitor preoccupations. Eagles, deer, turkeys, squirrels, and birds of all kinds share the beauty of the area. Lake Malone is within a half hour of larger communities and city activities. Parks, Bike trails, museums, and historical sites are all within easy travel distance. A restaurant/resort is ten minutes away for local dining at a reasonable price. Residents are welcoming and friendly.

Beautiful, secluded getaway
Beautiful cabin with great views of lake Malone. Very accommodating owners. Would be perfect for a family with 4 children!
We take pride in arranging any accommodations that make a guest stay comfortable. Yes, the view is captivating. We will soon build to enclose the main deck porch for an all-season room.
The house was very clean and new. Great weekend getaway. As far as a long term stay, a formal living room to sit in at night would be nice and a grill would make this home a 10 out of 10.
This year we hope to enclose the main floor porch with windows to give a living room space. We do not have a grill because most often renters do not clean it after use.
Thanks for the review. We hope to see you back after you pass your test.
Our weekend away
Unfortunately our stay did get off on the right foot. We arrived several hours after check in to find that the home was not cleaned from the previous house guests. Jo was very apologetic when we reached her and made arrangements for a backup house cleaner to come in. She was willing to refund us more but we agreed to just be refunded the one night as we were not able to get to bed till after 11.
We agree with the views, they are amazing but unfortunately you have to be on the corner of the top level balcony to be able to see it all. You really could not see through the trees on any of the other balconies. The landscaping around the home needs some maintenance.
We don't believe the bed on the third floor is a queen which we considered the master bedroom. My husband is 6'3" and we have 3 queen size beds in our home. Fortunately we still made it work but some people may not want to sleep that close to each other.
We did enjoy our time on the dock (we did not bring a boat) fishing. We spent several hours a day just relaxing and fishing. Just what we needed.
Grounds maintenance is scheduled for Oct 10. We have a long trip from our home in Wisconsin, so get there only 3 times per year.
Thank you for noting that. Our cleaner was too sick to even call us to clean on time. When we realized that we found a substitute cleaner who is now onboard.
PS. It is a Queen bed.
Beautiful home and view
Home was perfect for this family of 6. Beautifully kept, great dock to fish off of and secure the boat to. Hope it's available for next year!! The Bailey's were super accommodating with answering any and all questions!
And you and your family were great guests. We especially appreciated your help with new box springs for they Coral Room.
Do return next summer.

Saw The Great Eclipse from the third story deck.
The place us beautiful and well-designed. Kids were on the first level. Adults on the third. It is well-equipped. The sunrise view is amazing.
This is small-town quiet created/preserved for Nature lovers and fisher-people. We are in a no-wake zone with many kayaks and canoes. Sunrise and sunset are awesome! We maintain a booklet listing local and regional activities onsite at the cottage. WiFi is available for those who enjoy looking at and listening to the outdoors will sitting on either one of two open air porches or an enclosed deck off the main floor.
Visitors enjoy escaping city heat by coming to the lake. On days of excess humidity, the cottage air conditioning system keeps all three floors comfortable. Many renters find that they like to plan excursion side trips to larger cities such as Bollingreen, Nashville, or Clarksville. After a day in the those communities, the subtle sounds of nature and a golden sunset are a welcome way to shed tensions and kick back.
History buffs, nature buffs, golf enthusiasts, bargain hunting shoppers and environmental experience officienatoes all will find opportunities in the large and small communities, as well as the undeveloped areas in this region of the state.
