Why Roman & Kathi Graf chose Piran
We discovered this gem on one of our travels and fell in love with Piran - it got under our skin and we couldn't let go. We loved the landscape - vineyards and olive groves sloping down to the sea and dotted with cypress trees and red tiled rooftops. The old charm of Piran pulled at us - the quiet, cobbled streets, the campanele with the archangel Michael on top of the spire, and the Baroque squares mixed with Venetian architecture. We were drawn to the quiet old fishing village where the people were friendly and the local food fresh and delicious.
What makes this Apartment unique
We fell in love with our apartment mostly because it looks onto the marina and sea - and we saw a lot of potential! It was unlike any other apartment we had seen - it is big and spacious and all on one level. The windows are old portholes from ships and add character and unique views along the coast and to the village. We also loved that fact that it is just before the center of town, so walking down to the beach or to the shops and restaurants is easy.

Original Property with great views
We had a good stay in this original top floor property with outstanding views in the heart of pretty Piran. We loved the huge, comfortable lounge, the port hole windows, the roof top terrace and the fact that we were near the main square and some lovely bars and restaurants. However we felt the bedrooms were in need of some updating particularly the bed linen and towels. The property is reached by four steep flights of stairs, which would not be suitable for anyone elderly or for those with very young children. The stairs also become very slippery in wet weather as one of us found! Unfortunately we arrived in pouring rain and it was difficult to find the property and unload the luggage in the 15 minutes you have within the car free zone. The instructions over car parking was a little unclear to us which added to the general confusion.
Highly recommend this property
This is a unique and charming apartment in a great location. We would definitely stay here again (and are already talking about when)!
The apartment is the entire third floor of a building plus multiple outdoor spaces. The decor is really cool, with portholes for windows, skylights, wood, tile and interesting furnishings. There is lots of storage space, laundry in the kitchen and drying lines on one terrace. The kitchen is very well appointed - we had brought knives and implements from home as we tend to find that rentals are pretty sparse and we didn't pull anything out of our luggage to use because we found everything we needed. The bedrooms are very comfortable as all have ceiling fans and two also have air conditioners. It was unseasonably warm when we were there in September, but the apartment was comfortable. The two bathrooms were more than adequate for our group of 5.
Then there is the upper roof deck, which looks out over the apartment. The stay here would be worth it just for that. It is large and has views of the sea, marina and the city. We had a hard time dragging ourselves down from here to tour the sites. It's pretty much 10 minutes' walk to anywhere in Piran. There is a grocery store on the same street just a couple of minutes away.
The only drawback I could see would be that there are a lot of stairs, all outdoors and quite uneven. We saw it as exercise, but for some they might be a problem.
Very nice Apt in Piran
Great location to sit on the deck and watch the boats on the water and the sunset. Apt was comfortable, large and well equipped. Nice views of the water and promenade. Kathi and Roman are very friendly and accessible. We rented the apt for nine nights and did it all without a car. buses are best way to get around. We had some lovely seafood meals.
Perfect location to enjoy charming town of Piran
The apt is in a perfect location to enjoy Piran or take a day trip to Ljubljana, Italy or Croatia. Everything you need is within short walking distance. Swimming, coffee shop, bar, bakery and great restaurants are literally a few meters from the apt. We enjoyed lots of time on the terrace enjoying the beautiful view of town for drinks at sunset, lunch or just relaxing in the sun. The apartment had everything we needed and owners were very responsive to a couple of minor issues that came up during our 2 week stay.
Comfortable, spacious, well equipped, convenient
Piran.....the month of May passed far too quickly. The people, the food and of course, the apartment were wonderful. By the second day we felt completely "at home". The apartment is so well equipped and very comfortable. Its location is perfect.....a 5 minute stroll to Tartini Square and has an ever changing view from the roof deck across the harbor. This is the place to stay in Piran, unless you don't like the aroma of baking bread (great bakery right below; so fresh croissants and rolls every morning!!). We didn't want to leave! Thank you so much Roman and Kathi for providing us a wonderful place to stay in beautiful Piran. Bob and Janna, Banner Elk, NC, USA
Piran is a quaint Venetian fishing village on the Istrian Coast between Italy and Croatia. The rooftop terrace on the apartment looks out onto the Adriatic Sea and across the sea to Venice and the Italian Alps beyond. Fun day trips include wine tasting in Croatia, hiking and swimming in nearby nature reserves, the old stone towns of Groznjan, Rovinj and Motovun, a day in Trieste where you can also enjoy a romantic evening dining on fine Italian cuisine and watch classical performances. There is a ferry service from Piran to Venice that runs from May through September departing early in the morning and returning in the evening. You can choose to spend the day in Venice or stay overnight in this lovely seafront city. Not only is Slovenia known for the Lipizzan horses and Postojna Caves, but also for their small, select wineries where you can enjoy a day of wine tasting and food pairing.
Slovenia is yet to be discovered - river rafting, fishing, hiking, bicycling with winter sports in the Alps are greeted by warm friendly people to make it a memorable holiday.
