James and Elizabeth Roach
About James and Elizabeth Roach
James and Libby Roach. We're both the youngest of large families. We both grew up in Beattyville and chose to raise our family here. We've been married for 25 years and have two daughters, 23 and 20. I am an elected official(Property Valuation Administrator) in Lee County and James works in the construction business. We love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
James and Elizabeth Roach purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why James and Elizabeth Roach chose Beattyville
We bought this 40 acre property because it is located close to our home. This 3rd generation family farm had been carefully cared for by our neighbor 'Bill' who lived a long life there. When he passed away in 2009, we purchased it from his family. We think of the property as 'Bill's Place', therefore we named it that. Bill was a real character in our small town and will not be easily forgotten. It didn't take long to realize how peaceful 'Bill's Place' was. We decided to remodel his home into the beautiful cabin it is today, and share it with others. The property is like many in our area. It was home to Bill's family where he and his siblings were raised by living off the land. There is evidence of the original homestead still there. The lawn has many fruit trees, planted by Bill. The barn wood on the walls of the upstairs in the cabin was taken from Bill's old barn. There is a picture of the barn hanging upstairs. We found heirloom, garden seeds in the barn from years ago. I was told by Bill's sister, Abby, that the rose in the front yard was brought from the original homestead and before that from another old homestead. She ask me to take care of her mother's rose. James and I feel like we are the caretakers of this wonderful property for now and will pass it on just as the family before us. The property's history shows it's self every time we are there. We feel honored be part of it.
What makes this Cabin unique

The area offers something for everyone. Many of our guests are here to visit family and friends for a homecoming. Many enjoy the Wooly Worm Festival held annually in October. Red River Gorge
Great cabin, cozy, clean and well equipped. A beautiful area of Kentucky!
This was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.
This was just a great over all vacation place.
Quiet cabin close to Red River Gorge
This cabin was perfect for our extended weekend getaway! It was in a very quiet area, secluded yet close to all the natural attractions in the area. It was easy to get to, and overlooked a beautiful little valley. The Kentucky river was just on the otherside of a nearby ridge and in the morning you could see the mist and fog rising from it. We saw deer, wild turkey, and lizards on the property. It was very relaxing staying here. The owners were very prompt in responding to any questions we had and stocked the cabin with lots of little extras. I definately recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking to get away from it all, yet still be close to the attractions in the area.
The cabin was perfect for our girls weekend! Space for all four ladies, lots of towels, kitchen was equipped to cook all meals and everything we would need to enjoy the outside was there. The yard was a great place to spend time outside and the hot tub and fire pit were awesome for the evening!
