About Suzel Jones
I live in Atlanta with my husband and we bought this house to enjoy time with our daughters, in-laws and grandchildren. I grew up in Brazil and moved to the USA many years ago after marrying an American. Georgia is my home and I absolutely love the mountains, outdoor activities and spending time with my family.
Suzel Jones purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Suzel Jones chose Ellijay
We bought this property because of its location and size. Our primary goal was to have a place to be with family and have plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy with them. The house offers the privacy we were looking for, the views that we 'required' -- mountain and lake views and size to accomodate the family most times.
What makes this Chalet unique
The views of the place are amazing. We can either enjoy our dinners outside looking at stunning mountain and lake views, or we can go to a gourmet restaurant at no more than six miles distance. All seasons offer different views and beauty and it is just 70 miles from Atlanta, which allows us to go for weekends without spending long hours in the car.

A bit of piece and quiet
Our time spent at Summit Chalet was so relaxing and we so enjoyed the quietness of the mountains. House was very cozy and any questions we had were answered promptly. Our only words to the drivers - be prepared for a very steep driveway - we had read the reviews but still were a bit hesitant first few times we went out. You become accustom to the roads up to the Chalet and also steep driveway. The first couple mornings we were greeted by deer on front embankment of house - then we would see them on our drive in and out of community. As we are sure in most mountain homes the WI FI is spotty - we did not mind at all as taking a break from all the electrics was a positive. Many thanks for a wonderful stay in your lovely home.
We loved the house, views, and isolation from the city. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Weekend of relaxtion
Overall, we had an enjoyable weekend. It rained on us most of the weekend but we were still able to get out and explore the city of Ellijay and Blue Ridge. We really wish there were more televisions in the chalet (at least 1 in the other bedrooms). The view from the main level was awesome.
Thanks a lot for your visit and for your input! I am sorry it rained!
Great but deceiving
Overall we really enjoyed our trip, the house was very clean, spacious and comfortable. However I would not call this property kid-friendly. The yard is a beautiful massive cliff with no space for outdoor play, the “game room” has absolutely nothing in it and we couldn’t get the TV to work. The only other TV in the house is in the master bedroom; no one else in the house can watch TV. As you can imagine, being in the beautiful mountains the internet was almost non existent. None of the amenities are convenient to this location without a lot of traveling and please read the small print when choosing a vehicle to drive - our dually hung over the roads and barely fit in the driveway but thank goodness it was four wheel drive. Our friend’s mustang (also guests) didn’t do so well on the gravel and the massive hills. The gate keepers did not have our entry information upon arrival and we were told we were no longer on the gust list upon entering the property another time after a daily outing... but the owners were real quick to correct this with a phone call. Aside from all of this, we really enjoyed our trip. Our children found a way to survive without modern day amenities and we adults got a little R&R and some great family time.
Thanks for your visit! I am glad you had a good time! I am sorry for your problems with the internet. I wish you had called us and we could ensure the provider went there to address any issues.
In regards to the location, we really do not advertise a yard because of where the house sits and all the trees around it — it would be more proper for us to advertise is as a “tree house”. Considering that we take our kids there often and they have lots of fun — they are anywhere from eighteen to one year old, we consider it kid-friendly, but you make a good point showing us another point of view.
We will consider leaving more games in the room downstairs in order to provide more entertainment.
In regards to the roads, I am sorry you found it difficult to drive. We drive a Prius up there without issues, but again, we are used to it. Please accept my apologies for any inconveniences. Our goal is to provide a good experience for all our guests and we will continue to strive to improve.
Went up with family this past weekend. Plenty of room for all of us. Very clean.
The cabin is nice, large enough for a group. Some disappointments- pools werent open (one opened on our last day), grill didnt work, black ant infestation in cabin, no outdoor grassy areas
for activities due to steep terrain. Power was out for 2 days due to tornado. (obviously, out of owners control). We will stay elsewhere next year, closer to a more scenic area and tourist activities.
Thanks a lot for your visit and I am sorry you were disappointed. As you probably know, the pools were closed due to tornado damage and per our pest control crew, ants became an issue after so much rain. They have been treating the area and the issue is solved. The grill is working, so I am not sure what happened there. Unfortunately, weather issues and tornado damages were out of our control. I wish I could have prevented the inconvenience. Best Regards, Suzel
