About Rita Olschewski
We bought this home 10 years ago and loved the quiet location and the nearby hiking. There is a stream near by for trout fishing and we built a tree fort with our grandkids. As they got older they wanted to be on a lake, so we built another house on Lake Toxaway where we spend our summer and fall. We still go up to the cabin for hiking and mushroom picking.
Rita Olschewski purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2005
Why Rita Olschewski chose Lake Toxaway
This home has fantastic views through huge windows. Even though we are in the woods, there is lots of sun on the porches and lawn. The property is surrounded by woods and National Forest. It will sleep 13 people, but for smaller groups and lower cost see listing #488315.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Close to Lake Toxaway with it's boat and kayak rental. We fell in love with the quiet serenity of this home. The water fall trails nearby are awesome and Tony's free guided hikes every Friday make it accessable to every one.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Great views. Good locations to get away from everything.
I would definitely, stay at Rita's hideaway again. Wonderful experience!
My entire family enjoyed the stay. The house had ample space and at no time did we feel cramped. Loved the property! Both Rita and spouse were pleasant to speak with when I contacted them. Would definitely, arrive early at check in and not wait til after check in time as the drive is a bit steep in certain areas and a bit dark...but overall worth it! 5 star in my book!
The property was beautiful, as well as the house. The set up of the house was perfect for us, as our daughter and her husband and the three grandchildren were able to use the downstairs as their little apartment. The rest of the bedrooms gave each of us our own space. The scenery from the house was beautiful and the weather was perfect. The kids enjoyed the outside, especially the tree house and the trail to the spring. The fire pit was great for cook outs and there was fierce competition with the ping pong table. Thank you for a beautiful getaway so we could have quality family time.
Had a wonderful time!
Great cabin, and Rita was so easy to work with! Beautiful view! Would come again!
Wonderfull stay in a peaceful cabin
Our group had a fantastic stay at Rita’s place. Do not hesitated to book this paradise
unclean house, beautiful mountain views
We had to vacuum the lower level upon arrival due to spiders and spider webs before letting the grandchildren move into the room. Carpets had stains on them when we arrived. Owner warned us about penalties of getting spots on white carpet so we removed our shoes to avoid this. Regretfully, we did not take pictures of what we found and were charged the complete security deposit based upon the cleaning crew's report that stains couldn't be removed. House needs a thorough cleaning throughout (fan blades, spider webs, etc.). Also, the gas oven had a strong gas smell when used; we had to open the kitchen window & exhaust the smell with a window fan. The microwave light for the stove did not work.
The view from the deck was really great, & the yard worked well for the grandchildren. The fire pit was a hit for all while roasting marshmallows.
I have a very meticulous cleaning crew and out of all of the 8 reviews I received this year so far, 7 were 5 star reviews and 1 was a 4 star review. I am sorry that this guest felt the cabin was not up to their standards but my other guest don't appear to agree with them. I did not hear complaints from these guests while they were there, nor did they leave me a note in the journal. It was not until I charged them for the carpet cleaning did they come up with these complaints. The carpets are being professionally cleaned again to remove the stains. I saw no spider webs when I inspected the cabin. Propane stoves smell different than electric stoves. Some folks find this offensive.
