About Rita Olschewski

We bought this home 10 years ago and loved the quiet location. The neighbor across the road has several ponds that our grandkids occasionally fished and swam in. There is a stream near by for trout fishing and we built a tree fort. As they got older they wanted to be on a lake, so we built another house on Lake Toxaway where we spend our summer and fall. We still go up to the cabin for hiking and mushroom picking.

Rita Olschewski purchased this chateau / country house in 2005

Why Rita Olschewski chose Cashiers Area

This home has fantastic views through huge windows. Even though we are in the woods, there is lots of sun on the porches and lawn. The property is surrounded by woods and National Forest.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Close to Lake Toxaway with it's boat and kayak rental. We fell in love with the quiet serenity of this home. The water fall trails nearby are awesome and Tony's free guided hikes every Friday make it accessable to every one.

This is the perfect place for a trip to the mountains. We loved it. The views are wonderful. Spacious and well equipped. Easy to rent and quick on the deposit refund. If looking for a place to stay this is the one.

Great Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin! The cabin was well stocked from the kitchen to all the linens we needed. The owners provided a lot of information from cabin amenities to local attractions. The drive into the cabin is steep, but it is the mountains! The driveway is very well maintained and we had no problem getting to the location. We loved the short trails right by the cabin ~ What a nice touch! The local waterfalls are beautiful and we also visited the Biltmore and went horseback riding. It was a wonderful vacation that provided a lot of great family time in a very comfortable cabin.

The property was amazing.

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful and the owner was flexible with a couple minor things that we needed to change. I did wonder why we needed to do laundry for the linens when we were paying a cleaning fee, but that was minor.

What views! Comfy!

  • 4 of 5

We were a group of 10 and found the house suited our needs. Many great features: excellent and strong Wi-Fi, comfortable bed and lovely bath in master suite with huge closet, (I didn't go downstairs to see rooms), kitchen adequately supplied for us, porches provided terrific views, modern appliances. We weren't at house enough to enjoy outside opportunities but the men did take a hike around property and found it to be beautiful. I must comment on a couple of things: be sure anyone using the loft isn't afraid of ladders or heights but it can be fun for older kids, found renter’s expectations upon leaving a little unreasonable (wash and dry towels, strip beds, one set of sheets in washer, dishes washed and put away). If you want an early morning start you'll need to plan to do some tasks the night before. Four-wheel drive was helpful getting up the steep driveway. This last comment is not the owner’s responsibility, but be prepared for a VERY, VERY windy road getting to property (don't try it if you get car sick). It was a long (more than an hour) drive into Asheville, a trip we made every day of our stay. I would recommend to anyone IF it were not for the distance and treacherous drive.

Great value for a great cabin

  • 4 of 5

What a great 'home base' to visit the surrounding area or just stay, relax and take in the scenery surrounding you. The covered, open & screened decks give you plenty of places to take it all in. Comfortable & cozy cabin we thoroughly enjoyed. The VRBO phone app is worth downloading to have all of Rita's instructions and tips handy. The wi-fi and Roku's were a great bonus. I have to agree with others that the living room sofa is not comfortable.

Yes, most everything is at least a 30 min. drive but well worth it. We cooked/grilled for most of our week long stay but found plenty of dining choices in Brevard just 30 min up the highway. Rita was great to work with and always quick to respond.
