This beautiful, secluded lake home is located at 3313 Kitchi Point Road NE, a mile up a broad, forested peninsula on 40 acres. It features open concept kitchen, dining and living areas with hardwood floors, picture windows and a long deck providing broad views of the lake and woods. Three bedrooms (the master has a queen size bed) and two bathrooms accommodate up to seven. It has central air and heating, soft water, washer, dryer, dishwasher and a fully equipped kitchen. We have recently improved the beach, added a stairway to the dock and upgraded interior furnishings. The house is located on Kitchi Lake, which lies is in the middle of the Cass Lake chain of eight inter-navigable lakes and offers a variety of game fish including walleye, northern pike, crappie, blue gill, large mouth bass and muskie. Cass Lake, a ten minute boat ride from the house, is also one of the state’s premier muskie lakes and a favorite with trophy fishermen. If you bring your own boat, a landing is available about a mile from the house, or you can usually rent one on the lake.

The Turtle River, which runs through Kitchi, provides boaters and canoeists with spectacular views of woodlands and wildlife. The southwestern corner of our property usually has a pair of eagles nesting between May and September and fledgelings often forage along our shoreline or circle the house.

Nearby Bemidji offers a variety of family activities including hiking and biking on state trails, several golf courses, and major retail chains. Many of our guests book to attend programs at the Sanford Center or Bemidji State while getting in some fishing. or other activity.

Beautiful spot on a fantastic lake.

  • 3 of 5

Great location, very private, on a long, beautifully wooded road. Kitchi Lake is lovely and has the added bonus of easy access to Cass Lake. We took daily boat rides to Star Island and enjoyed the fantastic swimming and picnic area.

The cabin itself suits itself perfectly to accommodate groups of fisherman. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to cook up that days catch, including some basic seasoning and spices. The gas stove is an added bonus.

The rest of the cabin could definitely benefit from a little updating. It holds some beautiful antique dressers and books, but along with that comes a VERY musty smell that took us 2 days to air out. The bedrooms also have old carpets, another likely culprit for the smell. The living room/TV area would greatly benefit from some new furniture. It too is very old, the couch horribly uncomfortable. It leaves that area of the cabin feeling rather cold and unusable.

The cabin sits up on the top of a rather steep hill from the lake providing gorgeous views from the deck. However, I'd caution that the hill is pretty difficult for the 5 years old and under crowd. We had to carry our two little ones up and down it each time we went to the lake. Putting stairs in on the hill would make it SO much easier and safer to navigate.

Our overall impression was this Kitchi Lake property is a great spot for a fishing group, but less ideal for families with young children. Also one gets the feeling that they're staying amongst grandparents and great grandparents things. Empty out all the random papers and old junk stuffed in the drawers. If it's going to be continued to rented out, removing the old linens and carpets would really help with the mustiness.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your helpful comments. To make it easier to get from the house to the beach we have regraded the slope, and built a stairway from the hill to the dock. We have also replaced the bedroom carpets and our “vintage” leather couch with more comfortable furniture.

Wonderful place to get away and relax. Great fishing too!

Owner's Response: Beth, I am so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. Since the house is sited on a peninsula surrounded by woods and water, it tends to to be very quiet and peaceful -- except when the eagles pass overhead, usually around noon, chirping loudly.(probably about the fishing}.

Beautiful lake, very private location

  • 4 of 5

The property fit our needs perfectly. We were looking for a private location and this definitely was. Set in a beautiful tree setting complete with eagles and loons on the lake. My only wish would be for some steps or something to be built on the long, steep walk to the lake. I loved the open layout to the living, dining, kitchen area. Plenty of room for the 7 of us. The caretaker neighbors were very friendly and helpful. Great week!

Nice secluded lake home

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the lake home this August. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us. All rooms were nice and clean. The kitchen had all you need to prepare a meal. Gil and Sharon were very nice and helpful and made it easy to get entrance to the home. We enjoyed the large deck in the morning and the fire pit at night. The home is very secluded on a mile road which made it a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the loons. The lakes in the chain are very shallow and may need a day or so to navigate your way around before you opener up. It would be a beautiful area to be in during the fall color change. Thanks for a great place for us to celebrate a 85th birthday! Sincerely, Cindy S.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

It was a very nice updated cabin including new appliances and washer and dryer, but the distance to the lake was a bit long and steep. There was no electricity to the dock that we were aware of. Sharon and Gil Kubacek, the neighbors we picked up the key from, were a very nice couple. We visited a couple times with them and enjoyed their company.
