Enjoy the company of friends and family in this rustic 6 bedroom Century home minutes from the Sandbanks beach! Ideal for inter-generational or multi-family get togethers, The Maple House by the Sandbanks comprises a main farmhouse and an adjoining guest suite sleeping max 16 adults + 2 infants in cribs.**

The main house only is available 1st Nov - 1st May (guest house closed). Prices reflect this based on dates selected. Max occupancy 10 + 2 infants.

** If you don't need this many people accommodating, just the main house (excluding guest house) can be rented (sleeps 10 + 1 infant). Contact host for pricing details.

WEEKLY bookings only between end June and early September. Seasonal pricing in effect.

GUEST suite CLOSED during the winter (end October to end April).

Max occupancy is 10 + 2 infants end October to end April.

Fully equipped with all modern conveniences and ready for your enjoyment. Two Beach Passes are included with your rental - spend every day at the beach! At night enjoy a campfire by starlight and watch the fireflies flicker by. In beautiful West Lake, on a 2.7 acre lot. Water is potable. WiFi Internet is available throughout the premises.

The kids will love being so close to the Sandbanks, the West Lake Water Park, West Lake Wakeboard School and horseback riding. Caddy Shack Mini-golf is a 10 minute drive, The Mustang Drive-in with playground and late night snack bar is 20 minutes. Slickers ice cream in Bloomfield is a short drive and of course, not to be missed.

And for adult fun, enjoy nearby wineries, Barley Days Brewery, Gilead 66 distillery; fine and casual dining; pubs and live music; theatre, golf courses, a public boat launch and shopping in Bloomfield and Picton.

This comfortable historic home is ideal for enjoying all that beautiful Prince Edward County has to offer!!

The Maple House Main (sleeps 10)

Built in 1875, The Main House features exposed beams, original wood floors, wainscoting, fireplace, spacious rooms and plenty of space to relax in the company of loved ones.

Enter into the main room with open concept living and two distinct lounging areas, satellite TV, wood stove (in winter), Central Air Conditioning in the summer and a dining room seating 16. The fully stocked kitchen has all the amenities and supplies needed to prepare family banquets and opens onto a large wooden deck with a new gas BBQ and a table seating 8, perfect for al fresco dining; as well as a bench and assorted lounge chairs.

Indoors, relax in the comfortable family room or chill out by the fireplace with a good book and a glass of wine. At night enjoy a campfire by starlight and watch the fireflies flicker by.

The Main House sleeps 10 and consists of 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. On the main floor, there is 1 bedroom with double bed and bunk beds and 2 three-piece bathrooms (1 with shower and 1 with claw-foot tub). Upstairs find 3 more bedrooms, all with new queen beds & mattresses and an additional 3 piece bathroom with shower. Linens are luxury 100% cotton throughout. Numerous entertainment options are available in the house including 2 TV’s, DVD players, a wide collection of DVDs, satellite TV, music system, games, books and wireless internet.

The Maple House Guest Suite (sleeps 4-6)

The Guest Suite features 2 bedrooms upstairs, an eat-in kitchen; 4 piece bath; large living room with sofa bed and original tin ceiling; satellite TV and an electric fireplace. The Guest Suite features an eat-in kitchen; 4 piece bathroom; large living room with a sofa bed and original tin ceiling, satellite TV, books, DVDs, games and an electric fireplace. Access to the guest suite is via a separate exterior entrance.

The second floor includes an open concept bedroom with a queen bed connected to a second bedroom with 2 twin beds. Two more guests may sleep on the pull-out sofa bed in the living room downstairs for a maximum occupancy of 6 plus infant. Linens are 100% cotton throughout. Air conditioning is provided via a window unit.

Outside find a gas Barbeque, picnic table, muskoka chairs and a large grassy play area for the kids with sandbox and tire swing. Enjoy the shade of the mature maple trees or bask in the sun. Enjoy a BBQ and al fresco dining followed by a campfire under the stars.

About Kate Kennedy

My husband was raised in Prince Edward County, so it was no surprise that we decided to buy our home away from home here. I was raised in England and moved here a few years ago with my husband.

We purchased this property after falling in love with the large open rooms and the original farmhouse features. The house has a wonderful warm inviting feel and you instantly relax once you've arrived.

Love being so close to the beach.

Love the outdoor space with the large deck and mature maple trees.

Beautiful old farmhouse

Great home for a large group. We rented both the main house and guest house and shared all our meals at the wonderful large dining room table. Back yard is great for kids to run around in. Loved the fire pit at the back of the property. Close to many wineries and Sandbanks. Great time had by all.

More Than Meets the Eye

I'm conflicted between writing an honest review and keeping this place a hidden secret. But given how wonderful Kate and Ken are in person, I feel compelled to tell whoever is reading this that my group had an amazing stay and would be well advised to make this connection before Kate and Ken's book fills up with regulars - I'm serious, this will definitely happen. The property itself is big and beautiful. Sprawling grass, beautiful trees, a large fire pit, and the most spacious and accommodating farm-house style residence to crown it all. It has a beautiful open concept kitchen and dining space with a table large enough to seat my entire group of 13. There is also a semi-detached guest house that has its own little kitchen,

living space, and bedrooms. This is the kind of place where you feel immediately at home. There is a sort of beauty to the property that only time can bestow. I will definitely come back one day. Thank you so much Kate and Ken.

Good place for a big, casual group

We were a family group of about 14, and everybody enjoyed the stay at Maple House. It's casual and rustic inside, but everything works, there's a main-floor bedroom for anyone who doesn't do stairs, and all the little things you might need are thought of. Kate the owner always responded to questions very quickly via email. There's wifi internet, but it is very slow. It's in a central location too, which is handy.

Maple House is a lovely, large, private property. The owners have kept the old charm.

This was the second year our family had a reunion at Maple House. We are a large group so use both sides. We BBQ all of our evening meals and find the kitchen is very well equipped. The large dining room allows all of us to sit together. The house is very well kept and clean. The group loves to play games and the huge yard area is great for Bocce and Frisbee. We appreciate enough spaces to park all of our cars as that is an issue at most rentals. Kate and Ken are always available for any questions although this year we didn't need to bother them. We definitely are planning to return next year.

Bloomfield area is renowned for antiquing and is home to many unique stores.

Shopping in Picton is a 7 minute drive away - theatre, movies, the harbour and shopping await.

And for adult fun, enjoy nearby wineries, Barley Days Brewery, Gilead 66 distillery; fine and casual dining; pubs and live music; theatre, golf courses and a public boat launch.

Our favourite spots:

Bloomfield is a quaint hamlet bustling with unique shops and a great ice cream spot. Be sure to visit Green Gables which is a wonderful labyrinth of original gift ideas.

We also love Dead Peoples Stuff which is a great antique store and The County Trader (on the way to Bloomfield) which has a wide array of small furniture and collectables.

Angelines restaurant is a special night out with a unique menu.

Sandbanks Provincial Park has 3 beach areas to suit your taste including sand dunes and a white sandy beach. Spend all day at the beach with a picnic and a good book!

MacCool’s Re-use – on County Rd 12 is a fabulous barn setting housing a “cool” collection of furniture and antiques. Also check out other antique spots in the guide.

Lake on the Mountain is a fabulous beauty spot and intriguing also. Enjoy a lovely walk and beautiful scenery.

We love Black River Cheese – they have aged cheeses like none other. Also pop into the gift shop across the street (Galoping Goat), an eclectic mix of garden ornaments, clothing and jewellery.

For the best breakfast in The County – it has to Baileys! At the top of Ridge Road and then left. Great value for hearty offerings.

Heading into Picton – the Waring House (Barley Room pub) does a decent ale and decent pub grub. If you’re in the mood for fish n chips though try Schooners on Main St – very English style.

If you’re looking for great steaks for the BBQ – our favourite butcher is Goodfellows on Lake Street, Picton.

In the Wapoos region you’ll find wineries and a lovely cider manufacturer and gift shop. The Wapoos winery also has a lovely sweet shop and a great view of Lake Ontario.

If you are here in the fall, be sure to stop off at the local fruit stalls where you will find the best offering of apples, pears and other local produce.

Check out the County fairgrounds, if you’re lucky there will be something interesting on at the Crystal Palace.

Throughout the year, prince Edward County offers many events from craft shows, to cheese shows, antique shows and sporting events.
