Mary and Frank Middleton
About Mary and Frank Middleton
We met while attending Guilford College in North Carolina. After many years in Charleston, South Carolina, we were ready to make Maine our home. Each year we would drive up the coast to visit friends in Maine and get a taste of fall and a reprieve from the heat. After 7+ annual visits we were ready to take the plunge and relocate our family. In 2012, we bought our Mountain Street home and have enjoyed every season since.
Mary and Frank Middleton purchased this Apartment in 2012
Why Mary and Frank Middleton chose Camden
When we saw the house it was perfect: there was no barn (so a clean slate for us to build something to make our own) and the house was close to town AND hiking and running trails. Frank has spent the last year and a half building the barn and finishing out the apartment above. We are working to improve the house as well, breathing new life into a 150 year old farm house.
What makes this Apartment unique
After living on a rural island in South Carolina, Mary was ready to live closer to town, but not in town. Mountain Street is the perfect combination of proximity to town, yet with enough yard to feel like we live in the country. We can walk across the street and climb to the top of Mt. Battie or the Tablelands. We can walk an easy mile into town (even the kids can do it!) to visit the library, get coffee or a great meal and sit by the waterfront. It has been a fantastic location for our family.

Nice and Roomy
Our stay started out with one of the owners (Mary) meeting outside the residence to help us with checking in. She gave us a tour of the place along with showing us where all of the essentials could be found. The apartments was nice an spacious and had everything we needed in order to make the stay complete. Frank, her husband, took the time to talk to us about the boat he was building in the garage below the apartment. It was very fascinating. We had inquiries about hiking trails around the area and they were more than happy to help us pick out some of the trails they thought would like. We would not hesitate to say here again.
Cheerful, clean and well appointed-
Close to beautiful hiking trails and the towns of Camden and Rockland. Hosts are kind and on site if needed. Comfortable bed!!
Amazing winter weekend away
This place is amazing! My parents and husband and I stayed at Mary's place for a long weekend to attend the Annual Toboggan Race in Camden. The apartment was great - good location, pretty view, good amount of space, and it even stayed pretty toasty warm during a cold weekend. Mary was very responsive and even set up one of the rooms in advance for us (made the 2 twin beds into 1 queen). If we come up to the area again, we'd definitely book here.
Lovely in all respects! The ‘little things’ are big things when it comes to bedding (so comfy), appliances, and amenities. Mary and Frank nailed it! (Super hosts. Chill, thoughtful, and so nice.) It was perfect for a best friend getaway weekend. And warm!! (Rinnai heater; did us justice through a blustery Nov storm night.)
Clean, uncluttered, and just really all that we needed. We loved.
What a great place inside and out. The apartment was beautiful, bright and clean and the perfect home base for our nearby adventures. Downtown and hiking trails so close! Great for our almost 2 year old, too.:)
Perfect Camden location!
Ideally located less than a mile from town, this loft apartment is ideal. You’ll be in your own little world with everything you need: a full kitchen, washer & dryer, living and dining areas and 2 bedrooms. It is both charming and spotless. The owners are helpful and friendly, but not intrusive. And you can’t beat the price.
Camden is an area overflowing with activities. The Penobscot Bay Region of Mid-Coast Maine is comprised of many small villages, towns and cities each with their own personalities. What they all share in common is the beautiful natural resources, unique shops and attractions and very friendly people. We hope you enjoy visiting many of them while staying in the area.
