Sweet place

  • 5 of 5

The farmhouse is really sweet. The location is beautiful, with a great yard and the river right there. The porches are nice for hanging out. The owner was extremely responsive when we encountered a minor problem, and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Our little dogs and all of their human companions enjoyed our stay a lot!

Absolutely beautiful!

Our short weekend stay was awesome. The home was clean, well maintained and the surrounding river area beautiful. I wish we had extra time to spend...we will definitely be back again. Thank you Kasey and family for such a great experience.

Diamond in the Ruff!

  • 5 of 5

Our group had planned a camping trip to Watauga Lake for the weekend. The weather forecast was not conducive for camping, but we were ready to "get out of town", so we decided to go to Abingdon, have a nice dinner and see a play at Barter Theater. Our friends were bringing their dog, so hotel rooms were not a good choice for us. Luckily I found "Riverstone Terrace"! The cabin had everything we were looking for - it was cozy, comfortable and the location was amazing. The rocking chairs on the front porch were a great place to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails during a "pop-up" rain shower. We prepared dinner at the cabin on our second night and enjoyed it on the back deck under an almost full moon - it was magical! The owner dropped by on Sunday to say hello - a very nice and personable touch. Riverstone Terrace is definitely with a repeat!

Secluded cabin in an incredible setting

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin for my wife, daughter and our dog for a weekend trip to ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail. We had a large group of my friends come with us, but they stayed in other cabins. This one quickly became the place that everyone wanted to hang out in. Its location by the river and huge property were perfect for relaxing, cooking out , and resting after a 66 mile bike ride. The owner was very gracious. She checked in early to make sure we had everything we needed, and then let us have our space. This cabin truly offers everything you need. I noticed some people have issue with no internet connection, but if you came to the mountains to surf the internet then you should probably have just stayed home. We did have 4G signal the entire time, so you will not be cut off from the world. The proximity to Abingdon, Damascus and Bristol offered us many options to explore. This is definitely a place that we will rent again.

Cute, nice river but needs work on accommodations

  • 2 of 5

Our family's (4 adults one child) was looking for a small house on the river while we were in town visiting family. The first problem we had was there is no railing on the front porch. The listing did not mention there are steps going into the bathroom with no railing (which for handicapped or elderly is a problem). We stayed in late August and when we arriv ed the house WAS HOT and took a full night and next day to cool off. We felt they should have turned them on before we got there. Even once that happened the units were too small for the space (one to cool all of downstairs including the Masterbed rm) AND two for upstairs which one was just gurgling with condensation and not cooling. By the way the two rooms upstairs are connected so dont plan on being a "couple" in the larger bed because the kids or people in other room have to come through your room to get downstairs and there is NO door.

We had met the lady and she was friendly. She said her father had a stroke, so we did not want to bother or mention the problems during our stay out of respect. One night the power went out for several hours which when the ac isn't great to begin with it wasn't pleasant. The t.v should get atleast 7 channels, but there were only two. My husband had to program the t.v remote that hadnt even been opened...not his job. Once he finally got the remote working for dvd player it only played movies on black and white (we were irritated ).If there are storms (which we had every night) or if you have folks that do not want to parake in river enjoyment than the t.v helps with their relaxation. This should be fixed. Now days everywhere should have internet...people want to explore Abingdon or Bristol so how can people look up things with no internet? Make sure you have the necessary utensils to cook including paper plates-there were only like three plates in the kitchen. Pizza cutter, will not have those items there. The river access is fine for younger folks, but just so you know it's a bit of a walk and not easy for older folks. Overall this family has a cute cabin that has so much potential, but there needs to be more detailed information in the VBRO details. Campground next door was quiet no problems there. Oh..for people going kayaking down to the bridge don't get out on the bank you will get stung by Stinging Nettle look it up it hurts like 6 year old got it big time! I hope the owners will consider these problems for the next quests.
