Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our recent stay at Timbertide. The property is just beautiful and nicely secluded, yet it is a really short drive to anything you'd want to see or do around town. There was plenty enough room for the 7 of us, and I slept like a rock every night in our comfy bed. I was a bit disappointed to find that neither of the outside water hoses worked when my kids came back covered in muck after beach combing at low tide. Luckily, there is a washer/dryer available for the laundry issues. Also, the coffee maker looked like it was in need of a disinfection, but none of us wanted to tackle that chore on our vacation. However, we enjoyed several wonderful meals on the large patio, listening to the trees rustle and watching the water lap the shore. We were even entertained by a seal hunting just offshore one night! While you are in Gig Harbor, we highly recommend the Devoted Kiss Cafe, the McCormick Forest Trails, and Destiny Harbor Tours. I would love to go back and do it all over again!

A incrediable hone.

  • 5 of 5

This house we perfect for a gathering of my children and grandchildren. We made incrediable memories. My only advice is to make sure you keep shoes on at all times you are at beach. .They also cannot be flip flops. The need a good sole and back. We had a cut foot as there are many shells and barnacles. They also are great fun for the kids to study at low tide. We would go back.

Great Time In Gig Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

Family and I had a great experience at this home! We enjoyed the character of the property and our kids enjoyed exploring the beach during low tide and finding all of the sea life. The house was clean and well equipped and the back patio area was perfect for grilling out and entertaining. The location was also very convenient to get on the highway and to local businesses, would definitely stay again!

Great choice for a family winter holiday

  • 5 of 5

We chose this beautiful, spacious Craftsman waterfront house, with hardwood floors, coved ceilings, a nicely updated kitchen to host a week of holiday gatherings for a revolving, multi-generational group of relatives, most living nearby. Several spent a just night or came for a meal. Two of us came from Hawaii, one from New York; the rest had a short drive. For our biggest meal, there were 10. We averaged 5-6 residents/night--all adults, one toddler.

For groups with a wide variety of ages, some rentals work better than others. This was the perfect choice for our somewhat quirky plans. It also required little childproofing. We didn't have to pull items from every drawer or shelf to keep them and our tiny explorer safe. However, visitors will need to keep the door closed to the stairs (carpeted, but steep).

The living room is large with good windows and the dining table comes with leaves and chairs that make it easy to accommodate a large group.

The house was very clean and well furnished with extra bedding and towels. The house is situated on a private lot with stairs down to a typical rocky PNW beach. Despite the weather, we enjoyed exploring the beach and the youngest member of our party happily lugged rocks at least two feet from the beach into the water.

For a large group, adequate parking is a must. A long, winding driveway from the street leads to a generous parking area with room for at least 4 vehicles to park and turn around.

Most visitors are likely to come in summer, but early fall would also be a good time to visit. The neighborhood is quiet. The house itself isn't noisy. Wifi is excellent and the big screen TV got a decent assortment of channels.

The refrigerator is generously sized. There is an ice maker in the fridge, but it helps to supplement with ice cube trays. The stove was in good shape. Basic items like tea, coffee, condiments were provided. There was a shortage of bowls and coffee cups. Otherwise, there were plenty of good dishes and utensils, plus a range of kitchen tools. There's an ancient, but clean, fine working Kitchen Aid standalone mixer and a blender. The washer and dryer were big enough to manage big loads.

The only negative--but it could be significant if not addressed--is that the mattresses are due for replacement, sagging in the middle.

Nearby are big names in dining and retailing. Local dining options include a Peruvian bistro in a shopping mall and several good seafood and steak houses.

Our 4 day stay was fabulous. Accommodations comfortable and a beautiful view.

  • 5 of 5

We had the thrilling experience of watching a bald eagle leave a floating pad in the water and fly right toward the big window we were all standing in front of. Watching it in flight flying straight toward us was truly magnificent. We had a wonderful time!
