Nearby are the lively and characteristic areas of Testaccio and Ostiense that offer a great number of restaurants, pizzerias, taverns, ice cream shops, markets, shops and clubs. At 9 mins from the apartment (through the underground pedestrian passage of Ostiense train station) is Eataly, a 17.000 sq. m. space offering the best in Italian wines and food. Not only can you buy top quality products, but you can also eat in one of the several thematic and gourmet restaurants.
At 200m from the house is a café and a small bakery selling sandwiches, bread, biscuits and all that you need for breakfast. There is also a bakery in the square. A 15 min walk will take you to the large covered market of Testaccio in via Galvani, which offers a great variety of fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, bread, pastries, wine, flowers etc., as well as stalls where you can taste traditional roman dishes, open air cafés and shops selling shoes, clothes, accessories, pottery. Finally, on Thursday and Saturday morning in piazza Nicoloso da Recco, a small square 20m from the apartment, you will find a truck selling local fruit and vegetables from the Roman countryside.
Opera and ballet lovers shouldn’t miss the summer season of the Opera of Rome held in the unique setting of the Baths of Caracalla. An interesting museum within walking distance is the Montemartini Centre in via Ostiense: an extraordinary combination of industrial archeology and classical art, where a collection of ancient sculptures is exhibited in a former power plant. Excelleny
We love the neighborhood (which we know well) and always prefer it to over-stressed tourist spots. This is still real Rome where people actually live and work. San Saba nearby is wonderful, and the more spectacular Aventino and cutesier Testaccio also close. Good transportation both from Airport and busses/metro to rest of city. Excellent, helpful host.

Rome gem.
Impeccably clean, spacious apartment, well equipped kitchen and close to public transport for easy travel around Rome. The best part was being close to Eataly, 5 minute walk,a foodie paradise! Gourmet food stores, restaurants and fresh produce all close at hand. Anna Paola was a gracious and personable host who was always ready to answer any questions we had. Will definitely recommend to our friends.

Marvellous
The property is exactly as described and photographed. Anna Paola is the most attentive, generous and wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. Any questions or problems we had were answered/addressed immediately with intelligent and helpful responses. The property is in a great, not-so-touristy area of Rome and has excellent transport options for reaching all of Rome's awesome sites. The local bars and restaurants are terrific, we encountered food tours in a few of them. Cannot recommend highly enough.

As wonderful as the photos suggested.
This is a very nicely presented apartment. The owner is also very welcoming and assisted us greatly with a few things like transport, providing some staples in the kitchen as we arrived in the evening. The location is great; away from the city centre but close to it, especially the main historical sites. Will certainly be recommending it as a place to stay to friends and family. Melinda

Couldn't be better
We had the most wonderful holiday here of 2 & a half weeks and only wish we could have stayed longer. We decided to make the long trip from Australia to stay in this apartment after seeing the photos & reading all the enthusiastic reviews. We were not in any way disappointed. Both the apartment itself & its location are ideal. The apartment is in a lovely 1930s building, set back from the road with a garden in front. It is very comfortable, light, bright, and amazingly quiet. The bed is very comfortable as is the living room couch, where it was nice to relax after sight-seeing. The kitchen is very well -equipped. All the little details to make for comfort & ease of use have been thought of. The location is fantastic. There is alot to see locally, such as the pyramid, the Centrale Montemartini museum, Testaccio, Trastevere, Baths of Caracalla, not to mention Eataly! The historic centre can be reached easily on foot or by bus, tram or metro. The apartment itself is easily reached by train from Fiumicino airport to Ostiense then a short walk from the train station, following Anna Paola's very clear directions. Finally, Anna Paola herself is a wonderful host. Warm and considerate, she makes you feel like a guest in her home; at the same time showing total respect for your privacy. We have travelled a lot, especially in Italy, & stayed in many apartments, but this was the best!
