Overview

About the property

Welcome to the Ozarks! The 'Pine Knot' cabin is located between Kyles Landing and Steel Creek- the Buffalo River access points. It overlooks the western bluff of the most popular rock climbing destination and full service guest ranch in the Midwest- Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Its proximity to the Ranch and the Buffalo National River make this the perfect place to hike, climb, float, and enjoy all the beauty of Newton County, AR. Jasper and Ponca have Buffalo River concessionaires that rent rafts, canoes and Kayaks. As guests of the Pine Knot you are invited to utilize the swimming pool and hot tub at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. You will need to check in at the HCR Trading Post to get a wristband. This cabin has all the comforts of home. It sleeps 4 with a queen bed and two twins in the loft. Our cabin is fully furnished with linens, towels, and bedding. The kitchen has everything you need: refrigerator with ice maker, range and stove, dishwasher, microwave, blender, and coffee pot. The kitchen is equipped- just bring your groceries and an adventuresome attitude. There is a charcoal grill (you’ll need charcoal) off the back deck with a great view while grilling. Pine Knot features a dining room table that seats four. For your convenience this cabin also offers HD satellite TV, local phone service, and WIFI. Check out the Zip line and adventure packages at Horseshoe or enjoy some other great Newton county excursion and then come back to your cabin, snuggle in, soak in the view and sort out the day.

Jasper is the County seat with a few good places to eat, fuel, and a small supermarket. The Pine Knot cabin is close to the Buffalo National River, the first designated national waterway and thousands of acres of National Forest land. Hiking, canoeing, kayaking, photography, wild-life viewing and leisure activities abound. The Elk center at Ponca and the wildlife museum in Jasper are great rest day activities and something else to see when your legs need a break. Historical sites that tell the story of early settlers to the region are within quick driving range.

Whether you are hiking Indian creek, floating the Buffalo, exploring the beauty of the Ozarks or Rock Climbing and Zip lining at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, Pine Knot provides clean and comfortable housing for your stay and is centrally located to all the activities Newton County has to offer.

Cozy cabin in a perfect location

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place for 3-4 people to stay. It has a good layout with ample living space downstairs with a kitchen and bathroom and a nice big loft upstairs with a queen and 2 twin beds. The beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were nice. It was quiet and located in a good area for lots of activities. The kitchen was a little under equipped for cooking but we had the basics. It has a nice deck on the back with a beautiful view. The only problem we had was with communicating with the owner. We didn't get the email with the door code and when we called there was no answer. We finally got an employee from Horseshoe Canyon Ranch to find someone who knew the code. It was frustrating after a long drive to get there.

A secluded, private getaway

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 2 nights in the cozy cabin. Though it was secluded, there was some traffic noise and voices from the road leading to the ranch that ran below the cabin. The view was beautiful; the cabin was nice. If you're afraid of heights like I am, the drive to the cabin is a little frightening.

Cozy and Remote

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a family of 4. Horseshoe Canyon Ranch nearby. We used their hot tub every day and went zip lining there. We were cozy and remote, but could get to hikes and activities.

Great view and central location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this beautiful cabin. The view and comfort of this cabin is second to none. It is halfway between Jasper and Ponca so you have great access to all the best restaurants and trails. We will keep coming back!

Amazing Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was great!

PROS: Located off the blacktop down a gravel drive, nestled on a slope looking out on a valley. Porch faces the west so sun can be seen setting behind the hills. Bed was very comfortable and my "Princess and the pea" princess slept peacefully. Charcoal grill on patio is a nice stainless steel model. Did not see one human during our time at the cabin except my companion. Kitchen had basic cooking utensils.

CONS: Refrigerator compressor was loud. Dining table was wobbly.
