About Mariana Johnston

Hi, we are Lynwood and Mariana. We love to create beautiful and efficient spaces in unique places.

Why Mariana Johnston chose Bozeman

The Bon Ton House, built in 1880, is one of the original homes in Bozeman’s Bon Ton Historic District south of Main Street Downtown.

When we bought the house, it had been run into the ground as a neglected long-term rental. Even in its dilapidated state, the property still had a wonderful feel and we knew that if we didn't bring it back from the brink it might be lost forever. Working intensely for over a year, we renovated and refreshed every square inch of the house and yard.

It was important to us that we retain the charming 19th century feel of the home so we saved the original windows, trim, interior doors, glass doorknobs, hot water radiatiors, and hardwood flooring. With new fixtures and furnishings, the Bon Ton House is the perfect combination of historical charm and modern comfort.

Possibly the oldest and largest Norway Maple tree in Gallatin Valley stands as the cornerstone of the backyard. Under the shade of this amazing tree, we installed flagstone walkways through a beautiful green lawn and natural stone patios featuring a large picnic table and fire ring with firewood provided free for guests.

After restoring both the house and yard, we furnished each of the three apartments with hand-picked decor and stocked each unit with all the luxuries you would expect from a high-end vacation rental. We make it our goal to ensure a pleasant stay for all guests at this beautiful and charming piece of Montana history.

What makes this apartment unique

When it comes to location, it really doesn't get any better than this. Being just two blocks from Main Street means that guests can stroll down the street and be right in the heart of Bozeman's amazing downtown. The Downtown Bozeman Association is active in ensuring that this part of the city remains the heartbeat of Bozeman. Their motto "Life is Downtown" couldn't be more spot on. The entrepreneurial spirit that lives in Bozeman can be observed in the number of creative and original businesses that line its streets. Locals and visitors alike enjoy many unique restaurants that serve locally-grown food prepared by hand. For those who like to shop, or even just window-shop, main street is home to many attractive boutiques that offer everything from western wear to outdoor gear to Montana-made jewelry.

Perfect in town rental

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped and newly renovated apt, 2 blocks from town. Perfect for a couple. Only negative is noise from upstairs unit (walking around,etc.). Would definitely stay here again when we visit our daughter at Montana State.

Cozy and convenient

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. We booked because it is so close to the main street so we could walk to restaurants and shopping, and also we were able to do laundry, which was great because we were on a road trip. It was very clean, has a large backyard, and the owner was very helpful when we needed questions answered. It was also quiet which we appreciated. Thanks!

Beautiful and very convienient hime in downtown Bozeman

  • 5 of 5

This was a great stay for the two of us (though could comfortably fit 3 or 4.) The place was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The backyard was a delightful place for an evening glass of wine. Many thanks to Marianna for her flexibility when we got burned out of Waterton NP and had to modify our reservations at the last minute. Everything was walkable from this location, really quite perfect!!

Wonderful apartment to call home for 4 nights

  • 5 of 5

Three of us shared this charming, well-appointed spot right in the center of the historic, residential Bob Ton district. We walked to parks, the Co-op, bars, breakfast, and even a thrift shop. The washer/dryer was most helpful , and parking very easy. Truly loved it and felt right at home. Thanks!

Great location...good value

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Bon Ton house, Unit B very much. The location really can't be beat...just a couple of blocks from the heart of Main Street and within walking distance of the Bogert Park Farmer's Market on Tuesday nights. The apartment was clean and tidy, and had all of the supplies that we needed. The kitchen was nicely stocked with essentials...coffee, coffee filters, key spices, oil, and vinegar. We really appreciated not have to buy those things during our one week stay. The only downside for us as a family of 4 is that the living room is quite small...there is only seating for 3 and since it is in a galley shape, there was no real way for us to all to comfortably gather together. Also, we would have enjoyed more comfortable outdoor seating for savoring the beautiful Bozeman weather. But, overall, a nice play to stay.

A PEACEFUL GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5

This centrally located, delightful apartment provided everything my good friend and I needed when visiting our two sons in Bozeman. The bedrooms and living area were tastefully appointed and the kitchen was well equipped. The street was cool and quiet and we particularly enjoyed the outside dining space, grill and fire pit.
