Fantastic - we had a great time at this lovely relaxing farm. Perfect family holiday with lots to do to keep the children entertained even on wet weather days. It is close proximity to Bruges and lots of other lovely towns incl Ostend, Sluis and Zeebrugge. But you wont want to travel too far as the animals at the farm will be waiting to greet you for some food and attention. Can't recommend it enough. If you dont want to use the car during your stay there are bikes to borrow and cycle paths everywhere.

Here is a sixth star: *

Marvelous stay in the countryside right next to farm animals, but with all the amenities you could hope for.

The owner is beyond friendly and made sure we had everything we needed! Thank you and see you again!

Family Holiday August 2016

  • 5 of 5

I must admit, being a city girl myself, when I arrived at the cottage I was a little taken aback. The place is a haven for plants, animals and wildlife and I didn’t know where to start! Fortunately the generosity, hospitality and guidance of Marc and Rika put me completely at ease and even I was able to settle into life on the farm. The kids absolutely loved staying here. There is so much for children to do; feeding the chickens, riding the donkeys, petting the rabbits and cats, playing on the swings or the trampoline, puzzles, ping pong....there are bikes and carts to ride up and down the lane on. And then there’s the swimming pool. The weather we had was not fabulous but this didn’t stop the kids from playing in the pool every day, for hours! The cottage has a patio area with table and chairs for outdoor dining with views of the wonderful countryside. The cottage is a great location for nearby Brugge (15 mins away by car) and Ghent (30 mins away by car), both of which are worth a visit. The shops and a small supermarket are within easy reach of the cottage – I hear that quite a few visitors cycle down to the local village but if you drive its only a few minutes away. I would absolutely recommend the cottage to families with young children or anyone who enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle or simply wants to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Lovely farm-stay, perfect for families

  • 5 of 5

Only 20 minutes from Bruges and 40 minutes from Ghent, this is a lovely, simple cottage surrounded by horses. donkeys, rabbits, chickens and other animals at the end of a quiet lane in the countryside. We were a family of 4 with 2 children aged 4 and 6 and stayed for 4 nights. We bought bicycles, for which there was ample storage, and they have plenty you could use of you don't want to bring your own. Our children were offered rides on the horses and donkeys (but were too nervous -maybe next time) but they loved collecting eggs, playing with the kittens and feeding the rabbits. The small lanes are very safe for cycling and there is a lovely 15km route into Bruges.

We will definitely be back

Excellent country getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented both cottages for two families and it was great. The owners can open the doors (well insulated, I must say!) separating the cottages and it's perfect if you would like to have your own space but stay close together.

The games room was the best, the kids were not bored even on rainy days. It is a huge room filled with toys, they have never been as happy! Another thing to keep the children happy were the animals. The children were allowed to feed chickens and rabbits and Marc even gave our kids horseback rides!

Marc was very welcoming and helped us with maps and advise regarding getting around.

The house is in a good location to explore surrounds, getting to Brugge is fast and we also went to Oostende and Ypres.

Would highly recommend it as a child-friendly farm stay.

The Bruges Farm Cottage, 8km from medieval Bruges, 15 minute by car, is one of those which are best described in terms of triumphant superlatives. Its special neighbours, the Flemish Coast and the world-famous Bruges are but one of the reasons why the Bruges Farm Cottage merits the hallmark of exclusivity.

The farm is also an ideal spring-board for rewarding excursions to the Belgian seaside (Ostend), the Flemish Hills, the 14-18 front area, Ypres and Diksmuide or Zeeland, the Dutch frontier is 5 miles away.

The Flemish art cities of Antwerp, Ghent, and Brussels only a 45 minute drive away.
