Guestbook comments from the owner

Great property for the money. Easy to find with GPS and not too far away, but still feels real secluded and remote (in a good way) once you're there. All necessary furnishings and supplies were readily available. We took our church youth group for a short retreat and had a wonderful time. Great layout with lots of beds available. More than adequate space for groups of 18+.

There were a few entertainment amenities advertised with the house that were either broken down or malfunctioning a bit at the time of our visit. Needs to be fixed, but didn't take much away from the overall experience. IMPORTANT: Despite info in the FAQ section (which I guess applied only to the other properties managed by same group), this property does NOT have a propane grill. You will need to bring your own charcoal if you want to grill out.

All in all, a great experience. A property I will probably rent again and would definitely recommend to others.

Great Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I who live in DC have been renting a house for the last several years as a fall weekend getaway. As our families have gotten bigger its been harder to find a place that meets all our needs. I think we found a keeper in the sunridge retreat. It fit 8 adults and 7 kids no problem. The master suite is especially nice with an on suite bathroom. The kitchen and living room areas are spacious and large. There is even a bonus game room with ping pong, air hockey and foosball. Outside there is a nice playground area and fire pit and there is a jacuzzi on the back deck. I really could not ask for much more. A few minor inconveniences were a large number of stink bugs, some higher grade pots and pans, and maybe a few more ktichen suppliers. Otherwise it fit our needs perfectly. We will likely be back!

Great Retreat from DC

  • 5 of 5

Our group from DC loved coming to this house to getaway. We struggled not being able to connect to wifi in the beginning (there is a signal but generally only worked for 2-3 people at a time) but once we decided to just enjoy ourselves at the house people quickly got over it. The view from the hot tub is great. The kitchen was stocked with utensils we needed. The coffee pot was unfortunately broken when we got there but we just went into town to get coffee instead.

Large Family Friend Home with Great View

  • 4 of 5

The view from the house and surrounding areas is spectacular. The house is large and can sleep 20+ people with a lot of room to spread out. There were toys for the kids and our little ones loved the swing set. If you do have little ones bring a baby gate because we ended up blocking off the stairs with chairs to prevent accidental tumbles. The furniture and decor are a bit outdated but it didn't stop us from having a good time. Very secluded home in the woods with private gravel roads leading in. We saw a bear on our first day but it kept its distance. Also saw lots of birds, bunnies and tons of stink bugs. We had an issue the first day with the hot tub and they sent someone right over. We would definitely rent this house again.

Great Space!

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing, I would definitely recommend it to any big groups. Our group had around 16 people and there was more than enough space for everyone to have their own bed. But there was also enough common space for all of us to be together. The game room was lots of fun and the fire pit was an excellent addition. The views are incredible and it's secluded enough that you can't hear any neighbors and the neighbors can't really hear you. And the owners were really nice and very responsive to any questions we had. Overall, we had a fantastic stay!

Guys' weekend was a success!

  • 5 of 5

There were 6 of us. Guys' weekend away from the ladies. A touch older, but well kept, super clean, quiet and secluded. The place was well equipped, I was able to cook a large meal, no problems. Towels, sheets all provided. Hot tub was HOT. The view of the mountains from the back part of the house, especially when snow was falling, was gorgeous. Close enough to town if you felt the need. Hiking trail close by. Old Rag hike (Tough, BEST day hike in the area) was about 25 minutes away. Luray caverns was about 15 minutes away. We would definitely visit again!

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Great location, Isolated. Large living space. Lot of amenities. Kids friendly, game room. Place was clean and basically had everything for a holiday getaway. Home away from home.

Only one thing: hot tub was not clean. Hence, we were not able to use it.
