Nice Getaway in the Woods
My wife and I had a very relaxing getaway weekend at this nice house in the woods. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We used the master bedroom on the main floor and did not even need the two bedrooms upstairs. This house is in a very remote location, so it is very private. We like to eat breakfast at Cedar Mountain Cafe, so that was about a 10 minute drive each way.
There were a few minor inconveniences that would have made the house even better. The grate on the gas grill was very dirty and moldy. The door from the dining room to the back deck was locked and the key did not open it. The batteries for the Direct TV remote were dead, but we were able to get replacements at the Dollar General. The screen door from the kitchen to the backyard was covered with small flying insects. We arrived close to dark, and it was difficult to determine how to turn on the lights in the carport and spotlights in the driveway. The towel bar in the master bathtub is loose and needs to be repaired. With a little more TLC, this house could be even better.
Great spot in the mountains
Great spot in between town and many of the parks. Love the stream on the property.
Great place peaceful and quiet
Enjoyed our stay here. Its a little secluded but we really enjoyedtje quite. It was very clean and as advertised.
Drive needs attention due to heavy rain.
Great location. Too many things to do in the area to spend much time on the property. Need more than four days.
Beautiful home, relaxing quiet location.
This is a beautiful home tucked into the woods on a quiet country road. There was a ton of outdoor activity nearby, but access to nearby towns was also just a short drive. The owners were a pleasure to communicate with and left great local recommendations for activities, as well as clear instructions for the house. The interior finishes and furnishings made it easy for a large group, including a few kids in the mix. With a full 10 people for a couple nights it was a pretty full house, but still very pleasant accommodations.
Great place to stay
This was a great property to stay at during our vacation. It was halfway between Brevard where we did some shopping eating, waterfalls in the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah forest area, and the DuPont State Recreational Forest which also had a good number of waterfalls and hiking areas. There are also a number of little shops in both directions of hwy 276. It rained the evening we arrived and part of the next day, but that was okay because the house was so nice, we just wanted to sit around and enjoy it. We used the firepit area outside. sat in the swing by the small waterfall out back, and spent plenty of time reading or drinking coffee on the font porch. Some mornings had chill in the air so a few logs in the wood burning stove set the mood for a relaxing time. The gravel driveway to the house was a little like a small roller coaster, but my 2 wheel drive Honda Pilot and chevy impala did not have any issues. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to visit the Brevard area.
I took two Android cell phones, one AT&T and the other Verizon, and could not get a signal. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I could not make a call or send a text even on wifi (some Androids and I think all iphones will though), but there is the house phone you can use. Sometimes in Brevard, I would get some reception.
DuPont State Forest has some incredible waterfalls and hiking trails. Pretty Place Chapel, Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest. Lots of great local artists, potters and weavers in this area.
