About this property

Antico Baglio Siciliano #1

The house draws its particular charm from the uniqueness of its architectural surroundings.
It is located inside an ancient baglio, a typical Sicilian rural courtyard enclosed with a large door, at the centre of which lies a mulberry tree.
On two levels and covering 100 square meters, the house opens onto a large living room with two couches, a comfortable dining table and a beautiful kitchen that although open on one side, has an autonomous space, comfortable and organized. There are two bedrooms, both spacious and bright and both overlooking a magnificent olive grove. The largest has a double bed (160 x 200), the second two single beds that you can put side by side if you want. In both there is space for a cot.

A stone staircase leads from the living room to the large loft, where you find another living area usable as a third bedroom for 2/3 people. Here there is a sofa bed (140x 200) and space for an extra bed. This area leads to a lovely terrace (15 sq m) on the roof of the baglio where you can have breakfast with the morning sun, sunbathe in privacy or enjoy the cool of the evening.

The house has two large and elegant bathrooms, both with a shower, one on the ground floor and one in the loft area. The entrance of the house overlooks the courtyard of the baglio and in the space reserved in front of it you can relax on a sun lounger or dine by candlelight.

The house is the result of a recent restoration using recycled materials such as ancient stones and railings, and the choice of handmade terracotta for the floors and chestnut beams for the ceilings, give the house a particular charm. The house has a heating system that makes it comfortable even for a winter stay. Ideal accommodation for a family of 4/6 persons, for two/three couples, or for two families

A wonderful stay in Sicily
We couldn't have been happier! Our time at this rental was a perfect respite from our winter weather. The property was as described with a very functional kitchen with gas oven, range, well stocked dishes, pots and pans. We cooked most of our evening meals and were able to get all the groceries we needed in nearby Balestrate. Elena (the owner) was very open to helping us set up our vacation and even arranged for our auto rental who picked us up at the Palermo airport and led us to the rental property! We were met at the property just as we pulled in and given a tour of the apartment. The apartment fully met our expectations with two bedrooms and two baths with nice linens, quilts, extra blankets. Good wifi access...we were able to stream movies in the evening. Great location...we made day trips to Erice, Marsala salt flats, Greek temple ruins, Palermo. We took an excursion to Mt. Etna and stayed the night on the east side of the island...Elena recommended we not try to make THAT a day trip.

etwas abgewohnt

Totalmente recomendable!!!

I was born in Milan where I live 9 months a year. During the summer months I move to Sicily with my family, in ancient country house that we have inherited from our great-grandfather and where we hope to welcome you. I am a teacher of Italian language for foreigners and a music teacher, my husband is an opera singer, specialized in Baroque repertoire. We love and know in depth the Sicilian culture and we'll be happy to give you all the advice to spend a pleasant and interesting holyday.
