Great get away!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay. Just what a cabin should be. Great view from both decks. Enjoyed fly fishing in the stream. Lawn is well kept and cabin has most anything you would need. We plan to return.

Beautiful View

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay this past weekend for our anniversary. The pictures online were accurate- definitely a 'guy' cabin- quite cluttered with signs and animal heads and whatnot. However, it was comfortable and you can't beat the view of the river and pasturage. Towels and bedding were clean, lots of plates/silverware/cups if you didn't bring your own, etc.

Only real complaints were the hot water: I tried showering our first night and stepped into a lukewarm stream that went downhill fast from there. The toilet tank doesn't fill after each flush, so it seemed every other time, we had to flush, wait for it to fill, then flush again. The water smelled funny, but since I can be sensitive to that, I brought a large jug from home for drinking, brushing teeth, etc. Maybe that's just the area?

I still would much rather spend money on our own getaway cabin vs. the same amount (or more) for a B&B. Loved the privacy, but super close to the dam for a bit of fishing here and there throughout our trip. I'd recommend for those who want peace and quiet and don't mind a bit of kitch. Your eyes will be on the big window anyway. :)

Beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

This cozy cabin is located on a stunning piece of property, with spectacular views of the Trout Run River. While small, it has everything you need - fully-stocked kitchen, cushions for the outdoor chairs, fire pit. Uniquely decorated with old signs and some taxidermy. About 15 minute drive from Lanesboro. Only drawback is that most of the drive is on very dusty and bumpy gravel roads. Will definitely return!

Peaceful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice two-day stay at the Buck Snort Retreat. The place is as advertised, a rustic cabin. It has its own charm. The views from the living room are spectacular, the bed comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. All appliances, A/C, etc, work well. It is a 10-minute drive to Chatfield where you can find groceries and other necessities. Our two days were filled with bike rides, fishing, and relaxing. Thanks!

Wonderful Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

An excellent cabin for those looking for solitude and privacy in a rural setting with inspiring views of a trout stream, grazing cattle, and a cool breeze riffling through oak leaves while relaxing on the deck.

Map

The Root River Bike Trail is in Lanesboro, which is 7 miles away, or there is also a Root River Bike Trailhead in Fountain, 5 miles away.

No town lights, make for wonderful Star Gazing, with spectacular views on clear nights.

Our campfire ring in the front yard, always has good dry wood available, for roasting Marshmallows and hotdogs.
