Fantastic family mountain vacation in a beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We reserved Mr. Lacross's cottage for a 2 night stay, Oct 19-21 2017. The previous guest reviews were right on! The cottage is located in a gated mountain community. The house is located a bit of a distance into the community, but it's a nice scenic drive if you go during the day. The cottage itself is located on a beautiful property with a step falls and little creek right behind the house. Very spacious, clean and welcoming! There is a wrap around porch on the main level and a smaller porch on the lower level; both offer great mountain views. My favorite part of the property was the step falls and creek behind the house...our kids had a great time playing on the rocks and splashing on the water, although for this time of the year the water was really cold. You can hear the water running from the house; it was nice to sit out on the porch drinking our coffee and look out at the mountains and listening to nature. The inside of the house gives you the feeling that you are actually in a cabin. The house was stocked with all the amenities you can imagine. The interior decor is very well appointed...bears, pinecones, small Christmas tree...etc. During our stay we visited Linville Falls And Asheville. Both locations are located 30-45 minutes away! Make sure to visit the waterfall located within the community! Great pictures! Since we have smaller children we drove to the falls....took less then 5 minutes, but you can also walk there! Did not have enough time to visit the lake. The property manager and Mr. Lacross were very helpful and made themselves available for any questions or concerns we had, but thankfully we encountered no issuues! My husband and I wanted to take this trip in order to see the changing of the leaves! We live in South Florida so we don't ever really experience Fall. This had to be one of the best vacations we've taken. My brother lives in Charlotte and he and his family accompanied us on the trip; we are going to make this an annual retreat and will definitely love to stay in Hidden Falls again!

What a joy!

  • 5 of 5

I have to admit, if I had known how far anything this place was, I might not have rented it. Our original reason to be in the area was to visit the Biltmore Estate and this location added some minutes to the trip. That being said, whether it was Karma or just dumb luck, all of us thought this was one of the neatest vacation homes one could ever imagine. Did I mention clean as well? Not a half mile from this house was a 100 foot waterfall. Oh, and there was our own private waterfall in our back yard! And if you looked another way, the view stretched out for miles and miles. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well. Some of our hardier crew took advantage of a couple of them. The only suggestion I could make for an improvement would be to have better light for reading in bed. This was no big deal for me. By the time I went to bed (I'm embarrassed to say how early) I was down for the count the minute my head hit the pillow! There is no way I could give this place less than five star.

Fantastic Cabin, Great personal touch.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay, the House was as advertised, and more!! Very clean, well appointed and could not have been a more welcoming place to stay.

Beautiful views, and very secluded. (very limited to no cell service, but that makes it even more of a getaway). Spoke with the owner Mr. Lacross before our visit, and Darlene (property manager), before and during our stay and both were friendly, helpful and great to deal with. Hard to find anything negative to say. We had a great time!!!

Highly recommended!

Beautiful and Quiet Setting with Only the Sound of the Creek

  • 5 of 5

We certainly enjoyed our short stay at this mountain cottage. Well stocked kitchen, nice appliances, lovely decor. Peaceful and Green view into the trees from the windows in the living room and dining room and a mountain view out the kitchen window. We never saw or heard a car, the only thing we could hear was the mountain stream - so relaxing. Beautiful deck and seating on the deck - very enjoyable. We did find the Hidden Waterfall just up the road from the cabin (has a picnic area) and also a small lake. Although it says you can swim in the lake, the water did not look clean enough to do that. The cabin was 30 minutes from anywhere, but 30 minutes from Chimney Rock, Lake Lure and Montreat - some of my favorite destinations. But, there are NO grocery stores close to the cabin. I was traveling with a friend and my two grandsons and we felt very secure and safe in the gated community. Thank you so much for a lovely stay. Travelers from South Carolina.

Clean and cozy with space for everyone!

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean and spacious, with lots of room to spread out. The road up to the cottage is steep and winding, but well maintained. The scenery at the house and in the neighborhood is beautiful. After the kids discovered there was no Internet access, some of them actually even went out to look at it. This was a short trip and our first trip to the area, but this location was pretty convenient to where we wanted to go and was about 20 mins from the interstate. We look forward to visiting again.
