About Kevin Leinbach

Together since 1998, John and Kevin have lived at CopperTree House since 2003. A top to bottom remodel in 2005 created CopperTree House’s spacious 1st floor suite, intended to provide a private, luxurious and yet accessible living space. The 1st floor steps were replaced with ramps to accommodate an aging parent. John & Kevin previously managed long term rental properties in Portland, Eugene and Florence, Oregon. Our 1st floor suite has not only housed Kevin’s parents, but also several friends, including one who was recovering from a motorcycle accident! Although we have incorporated accessibility features, our main focus has always been on making the unit attractive and comfortable for whoever stays there.

John is a former interior designer who is now helping people to go Gluten Free, teaching classes and providing consulting services through his website, KitchOut. He has recently begun releasing a series of Gluten Free cookbooks. Originally from Oklahoma, John has lived in Eugene since 1996 and graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Landscape Architecture. Kevin grew up in Eugene. He moved to Portland in 1984 and graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a Theatre Degree. Kevin was a producer for the New Rose Theatre, a professional theatre company in downtown Portland, Oregon before joining his mother in her work as an Astrology counselor and published author. Kevin returned to Eugene in 1997 to help provide care for his parents as they aged. After his parents passed away, Kevin returned to Astrology and is now giving readings and teaching private classes available through his website PlutosChild.

Why Kevin Leinbach chose Southeast Eugene

CopperTree House is nestled into the hillside, with lovely filtered views of Eugene and it almost feels like we’re living in the trees, instead of on the ground. The cul-de-sac is quiet and private, with only local traffic and great neighbors who get together several times a year just to hang out. It’s almost like living out in the country. Yet the location is so convenient, with easy access to both Interstate 5 & downtown Springfield (to the east) and Amazon Parkway (to the west) leading to all the downtown Eugene attractions, yet with minimal traffic to slow you down.

What makes this apartment unique

While this is not a stand-alone property, it is a completely private unit but with the owners (both working from home) who are nearly always available to answer questions and give assistance. From offering directions to recommending restaurants to making introductions to the neighbors, we can offer an informal concierge service that is not usually available with an isolated property. If you give us a heads up, we will happily stock special pantry items, chill your favorite wine, make special arrangements and do our best to accommodate special requests in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And, of course, any necessary maintenance can be handled immediately.

Like a spa resort in a great location - the best!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place to stay - it has a hot tub, sauna and wonderful soaking tub plus all the high end amenities and beautifully decorated. It is in a lovely and quiet neighborhood which is just a short drive to downtown Eugene. I wish we could have spent most of our 6 days there just relaxing and enjoying the resort, but alas we were house-hunting in Eugene. We hope to come back and just bliss out in this spa-like resort. Our stay there was enhanced by the delightful and very helpful hosts - John & Kevin - who live upstairs. They give you your privacy and are very professional. Plus they are truly decent and caring people who were very helpful to us with recommendations, etc re. Eugene, and it was a pleasure just chatting and laughing with them. Great place to stay & great hosts - what more could you ask for.

Quiet Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Up in the hills of South Eugene, but close to everything you might want to do in Eugene. The place is very peaceful with a lot of amenities. I can't think of anything they missed. Definitely will stay again next time I am in town. Thanks Kevin and John!

Well-kept and luxurious

  • 5 of 5

The place was attractively decorated and clean. Great amenities, including a sauna, hot tub, and deep soaking tub. Kevin and John were responsive and helpful when we became locked-out briefly. We would definitely stay again and recommend this place to anyone seeking quiet, comfortable, and luxurious accomodations.

Well equipped, good value

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two rainy nights in October and found this place to be comfortable and, as the name says, luxurious. We used the sauna, hot tub and deep soaking bath tub, which made the rain and cold seem not so bad. The kitchen is small, but has everything you need, including two bottles of wine. The check-in was easy with a code to unlock the door and parking in the drive way right next to the door. It seems the apartment was set up for a person using a wheel chair, with ramps. The hosts provide everything you need, right where you need it: towels and robes by the hot tub, tooth brush and tooth paste in the bathroom, water bottle and cups in the sauna. I had a cut on my leg, and there was a first aid kit in the kitchen I used to dress it. The house is in one of Eugene's most expensive neighborhoods. All large custom homes on a hill above Eugene, but minutes from the center of town. You do need a car to get around.

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN EUGENE!!!! Quiet, Residential, Only 15 minutes from Autzen Stadium!

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED this place! It's listed as an apartment but it feels like home! The pictures do not do it justice. I loved opening up the bathroom window to beautiful forest trees, and being able to get away from the city. We came down for an Oregon Duck game and after the craziness, it was nice to come back "home" and relax. The Rainfall shower is amazing, and the Japanese soaking tub is HUGE! The owners have thought of everything! The little room with the twin bed was so cute! The hot tub was perfect and the back area was very private and beautiful. Everything from reserving the house, to check-out was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. If we come back to Eugene, we will definitely be reserving this home again! We ate at Ambrosia which was amazing and not too far of a drive. Make sure to call and make reservations! Best Italian we've had in a long time. (the owners of the home have a notebook with a lot of recommendations and so glad we picked this restaurant they listed)

So, if you're coming to Eugene for a game, to visit family, or whatever may be, you will be charmed by this home and amenities. (and it's the same or less than a hotel!)

Everything we hoped it would be

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was lovely. We had privacy and everything we needed for a week away. We didn't interact much with our hosts, but when we did see them they were friendly and helpful. I had assumed that since they had ramps and the shower was a roll in, there would be safety bars at the toilet and shower. I should have asked. I have all the portable equipment, just failed to bring it. No problem tho, with a short trip to the local Walmart, all was resolved (portable equipment obtained). I'm only mentioning it so that anyone else who needs the info will know. It has no bearing on whether we enjoyed our stay. We did. And should we visit Eugene again, we will definitely try to book this apartment.

Owner's Response: Donna, we sincerely apologize for our lack of the proper facilities to fully accommodate your stay and appreciate your patience with our lack of thoughtfulness. We recently had someone else ask about the very issues your raised prior to booking, which has made us more aware of what needs to be available. We will certainly be more prepared should you choose to return!
