About Kevin Leinbach

Together since 1998, John and Kevin have lived at CopperTree House since 2003. A top to bottom remodel in 2005 created CopperTree House’s spacious 1st floor suite, intended to provide a private, luxurious and yet accessible living space. The 1st floor steps were replaced with ramps to accommodate an aging parent. John & Kevin previously managed long term rental properties in Portland, Eugene and Florence, Oregon. Our 1st floor suite has not only housed Kevin’s parents, but also several friends, including one who was recovering from a motorcycle accident! Although we have incorporated accessibility features, our main focus has always been on making the unit attractive and comfortable for whoever stays there.

John is a former interior designer who is now helping people to go Gluten Free, teaching classes and providing consulting services through his website, KitchOut. He has recently begun releasing a series of Gluten Free cookbooks. Originally from Oklahoma, John has lived in Eugene since 1996 and graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Landscape Architecture. Kevin grew up in Eugene. He moved to Portland in 1984 and graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a Theatre Degree. Kevin was a producer for the New Rose Theatre, a professional theatre company in downtown Portland, Oregon before joining his mother in her work as an Astrology counselor and published author. Kevin returned to Eugene in 1997 to help provide care for his parents as they aged. After his parents passed away, Kevin returned to Astrology and is now giving readings and teaching private classes available through his website PlutosChild.

Why Kevin Leinbach chose Eugene

CopperTree House is nestled into the hillside, with lovely filtered views of Eugene and it almost feels like we’re living in the trees, instead of on the ground. The cul-de-sac is quiet and private, with only local traffic and great neighbors who get together several times a year just to hang out. It’s almost like living out in the country. Yet the location is so convenient, with easy access to both Interstate 5 & downtown Springfield (to the east) and Amazon Parkway (to the west) leading to all the downtown Eugene attractions, yet with minimal traffic to slow you down.

What makes this apartment unique

While this is not a stand-alone property, it is a completely private unit but with the owners (both working from home) who are nearly always available to answer questions and give assistance. From offering directions to recommending restaurants to making introductions to the neighbors, we can offer an informal concierge service that is not usually available with an isolated property. If you give us a heads up, we will happily stock special pantry items, chill your favorite wine, make special arrangements and do our best to accommodate special requests in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And, of course, any necessary maintenance can be handled immediately.

Like a spa resort in a great location - the best!

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic place to stay - it has a hot tub, sauna and wonderful soaking tub plus all the high end amenities and beautifully decorated. It is in a lovely and quiet neighborhood which is just a short drive to downtown Eugene. I wish we could have spent most of our 6 days there just relaxing and enjoying the resort, but alas we were house-hunting in Eugene. We hope to come back and just bliss out in this spa-like resort. Our stay there was enhanced by the delightful and very helpful hosts - John & Kevin - who live upstairs. They give you your privacy and are very professional. Plus they are truly decent and caring people who were very helpful to us with recommendations, etc re. Eugene, and it was a pleasure just chatting and laughing with them. Great place to stay & great hosts - what more could you ask for.

Relaxing getaway just a few minutes from the university and downtown

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful place to stay just a few minutes later from University of Oregon and downtown Eugene. So relaxing. The only thing to mention is the bed in the bedroom is very firm.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Nigel, for visiting us! The high-end memory foam mattress in the bedroom can be surprising for folks who haven't slept on memory foam before. We actually first experienced memory foam at a hotel we visited a few years back. We went right home and replaced all of our mattress with memory foam mattresses and never looked back!

Perfectly classy and cozy

  • 5 of 5

This Eugene area accommodation was really wonderful. The "apartment" (ground level of a 3-story home) is nestled in a beautiful neighborhood minutes from town. They have thought of pretty much everything and the hot tub and sauna were a great bonus. It's all pretty private and secluded. There was plenty of refrigerator and freezer space for us to empty our coolers into while we were there. Although the kitchen is small, we made a sausage and egg breakfast with no problem. Clean, cozy, quiet, easy access, well decorated, and with lots of information to make use of the rental as well as ideas on where to go in the Eugene area. I would highly recommend this and I hope we get the opportunity to stay in the area again. There's no reason for us to look for any other place to stay.

Perfect get away

  • 5 of 5

The Coppertree House was an absolutely perfect place for our Oregan Vacation. It had every amenity we needed and the owners were above what was expected. I would highly recommend the Coppertree House to anyone looking for a place near Eugene, OR. It would even be a great weekend get away. Look forward to going back in the future.

We enjoyed everything except the bed was a bit hard for our comfort

  • 4 of 5

Anything we needed to make our stay enjoyable was provided. The accommodations were not far from the campus.

Owner's Response: We're so sorry to hear that the memory foam mattress seemed too hard! Even though memory foam is different than a regular mattress, we've found that most people find them quite pleasant. At any rate, we're glad that the rest of your needs were suitably met.

Elegant, quiet and very comfortable

Really enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed and more. Sauna was a big perk. Nice neighborhood to take walks in and great outdoor spaces around the rental for hanging out.
