If you are drawn, as we are, to the modern decor of hotels such as AC Hotel, The Aloft, or the Hotel Indigo in downtown Asheville, you may enjoy the mod sensibilities we applied in our ModAVLtreehouse - but with a full kitchen and off-street, non-valet parking, if that's more your speed.

Features of our centrally located home include a clean, open floor plan, with up-to-date kitchen and bathrooms. You will be close to everything Asheville has to offer, yet nestled in a secluded wooded neighborhood, 2 miles North of downtown. Enjoy our hanging out on the private deck, with a treed mountain view toward the Grove Park area. It feels calm and relaxing, just like being up in a treehouse, especially while chilling in the swing chair!

The ModAVLtreehouse accommodations include a queen Venezia bed (New Morning Gallery), and a second bedroom with two twin beds. All new hygienic memory foam mattresses and comfortable linens provided. Single car covered carport and one-level living space. In unit laundry included, with new appliances.

The well-appointed kitchen provides cookware, dishware, utensils, and linens to support a comfy stay, with five grocery stores within 1.5 miles (including Trader Joes and Harris Teeter), with Ingles and Fresh Market under a mile away. Great for savoring tasty leftovers from so many foodie locations around town, or for preparing to eat-in when so inspired. Kitchen has counter-height seating for three at the island/prep table.

The quiet ModAVLtreehouse is half of a side-by-side duplex, with private entrances and carports at each end of the building, and excellent built-in soundproofing between the units. Driveway is shared, and courtesy to not block your neighbor's access is appreciated and necessary.

We'll do our best to point you to great things to do - not as if we're a concierge, but more to help you find things as if you're living like a local during your visit!

Asheville City regulations require in-town homes like the Mod Avl "Treehouse" to be a monthly rental, i.e. each guest blocks a month minimum on our calendar. However, we can attempt to accommodate guests with Pre-Arranged EARLY CHECKOUT options, to help with guest's traveling necessities. Contact Cindy for details - We'll see what we can do.

On the other hand, NC regulations allow for any stay LONGER than 90 days to not be subject to State/County sales and occupancy tax - so if guests want to chill or telework a little longer, that is a significant savings in taxes. About Cynthia Coker (Owner and Manager)

We are Cindy Coker and Lucinda Murphy, two NASA engineers, twelve years into our twelve year plan, transitioning to making Asheville our full-time home ASAP. Between us, we have a combined 70 years of service with NASA in Huntsville AL, at Marshall Space Flight Center, supporting primarily scientific experiment/instrument and facility payloads from early SpaceLab and Shuttle Program days, and throughout the International Space Station Program. Why Cynthia Coker (Owner and Manager) chose Grace

We have been spending several dozens of days each year in Asheville, since early 2006. Our first home here was in West Asheville, an amazing part of town. Yet we are drawn to mid century modern architectural styles, and had noticed a sprinkling of these homes in North Asheville years ago.

Our second Asheville home was next door to the ModAVLtreehouse duplex, and we originally bought it thinking we could redraw the property line in between, to widen our driveway and build a garage at our house (and partly because we could tell the duplex was falling into disrepair). We fully renovated both the house (2011-2013) and the duplex (2014). We surprised ourselves and our friends by changing houses and moving to a different one 3 miles away in 2015. So we are nearby, but no longer next door to the ModAVLtreehouse.

What makes this villa unique

We love the up-in-the-trees "treehouse" feel, the quiet serenity, Lucinda's clean/mod interior design and decor selections. Plus the close proximity to downtown, great food, and views from being uphill from Merrimon Avenue. Check out the ModAvlTreehouse social media. We more regularly share our favorites, activity updates from around the area, as well as NEW FINDS on FB or Pinterest, and per Lucinda's daughter's repeated recommendation - the ModAvlTreehouse is now posting our fav's to Instagram. Which is handiest for our guests? I have no idea. But I find that this helps US as well - to remember new things to try when in town. There's just so much going on in Asheville these days! We're not a B&B or a hotel, but we try to provide concierge-like, curated information, to help our guests feel a bit more like locals.

Grove Park Inn's Spa is ~2 miles away from the ModAVLtreehouse, and is fabulous! Holiday and special event fireworks at the Grove Park Inn are nice to view from our deck.

Wonderful stay in Asheville. The owners of this property have gone the extra mile to make sure you have a great time in the Mod Tree House. Everything you need is there. The back porch is inviting and relaxing. Thanks so much to Cindy and Lucinda for their hospitality.

You'll want to stay here forever!

The location, views, and decor are pure perfection! I loved my long-term stay in the Mod Treehouse and didn't want to leave. I spent countless hours on the deck overlooking the neighboring mountain, enjoying the sounds of nature and privacy surrounding me. This quiet, safe neighborhood in North Asheville is central to all the attractions yet offers a secluded feel like a retreat. The kitchen is well equipped for dining in, the beds are comfy and cozy, and the decor offers a soothing, zen-like atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and were happy to offer flexible dates to accommodate my travel schedule. I can't wait to come back to this sweet place!

Loved the Mod Treehouse

The mod treehouse has everything for a wonderful trip to Asheville. We loved it! The location—high in the hills—offers a quiet oasis that is close to everything. Restaurants, take-out, groceries, and shopping are minutes away. The location is also convenient to downtown and West Asheville. The deck offers magnificent views, and a short walk up the hill yields a view of the entire Asheville skyline and surrounding mountains. Once inside, we were greeted with a stylish and modern décor that was also comfortable and inviting. The home was immaculate with new appliances, memory foam beds, and two full bathrooms—one for each bedroom. The owners obviously took great care in decorating the space and included special pieces made by Asheville artists and craftspeople. They were helpful and responsive when we needed anything. We will definitely stay in the mod treehouse again when we return to Asheville.

A hideaway with a view but close to everything

So we have been to Asheville since 1993 and since 2001 every year. We have done B&B's and hotels and motels but VRBO has been the best. This was a brand new 2 bedroom right off Marrimon and close to downtown and Grove Park Inn and Bear Lake( Great Walk) lots of good Breakfast And Lunch Places nearby. Within 10 minutes you are are in downtown with wonderful restaurants and art galleries. Very basic comfortable and clean. Washer dryer a plus.

Uber or Lyft to Downtown or the RAD. Walk to UNCA farmers market on Saturday mornings for coffee and fresh baked goods, and produce Spring thru Fall. Or walk to a movie and pizza at Avl Pizza and Brewing, or casual upscale neighborhood dining at Avenue M or Ambrosia Bistro. There's plenty to relax and enjoy in N Avl when downtown is crowded. Easy access to four grocery stores within 1.5 miles, including Trader Joes, Fresh Market, Ingles, and Harris Teeter. Walkable to multiple dining, pharmacy, hardware store, post office, library, etc.

We only rent our home once every thirty days, but allow prearranged Early Checkout at a reduced rate (see below). Or, if you can stay longer - enjoy significant savings by eliminating County/State sales and occupancy taxes on extended 90+ day stays at the ModAvlTreehouse!

EARLY CHECKOUT OPTIONS for between seven and 29 days are possible if arranged in advance. Adjusted early checkout rates include: 7 nights at $200/night; 2-3 wks at $150/night; 3-4 wks at $95/night. To negotiate for any reasonable schedule accommodation and corresponding rate differences, message owner/manager Cindy Coker here or via social media (we're on FB, LinkedIn, etc), and we can discuss what options are available for shorter visits. Since we block a month minimum for all guests, shorter stays must be discussed prior to booking, and confirmed for Pre-Approved Early Checkout.
