About Joanne Korsmo
Both my husband Mike and I came to Alaska in 1984, I am originally from CT, I am a station manager for a small commuter airlines Alaska Seaplanes, we fly to many communities in Southeast Alaska. My husband Mike is from WA State, and he is a tugboat captain running boats all over Alaska. We met here in Skagway and immediately fell in love with this beautiful country. Anyone who has spent anytime in Alaska will agree that in just gets under your skin and becomes home. We raised our 2 daughters here and have enjoyed this peaceful safe little town for over 30 years.
Joanne Korsmo purchased this House in 2000
Why Joanne Korsmo chose Skagway
We bought our beautiful house in 2000, there are large windows on all 3 sides of the house capturing all the breathtaking views Skagway has to offer. You can look to the north and see the White Pass Mountain range in the Yukon and also look to the south and see the Lynn Canal all from one room. The location was a draw as well, only 10 minutes from town by car, it definitely gives you the feeling of getting away from it all.
What makes this House unique
One unique benefit of the house is during the tourist season you have a the bird's eye view of the ships coming into port every morning and leaving every night. You can enjoy watching from the upstairs bedroom, or off the balcony or the downstairs living room, and lower deck.

Extraordinaire Fabulous Home
Joanne we had the time of our life in your amazing home. We will come back for sure. The weather was just perfect and the outdoor deck was amazing.
Tony, We are so happy you all enjoyed the house. It's guests like you that make our experience as hosts sharing our home and the beauty of Skagway so rewarding. Hope to see you again!! Joanne Korsmo
Beautiful home with a gorgeous view!
We celebrated a 60th birthday and had 6 adults and 5 kids. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed! Plenty of space to cook, visit and sleep for everyone! (A few more books or games might have been nice (we did not have great weather so ended up inside more than we would have liked !)
The deck was amazing and watching the cruise ships come in and out was a highlight.
Joanne was very accommodating and the shrimp was such a delicious treat!
Hope to be back!
We were happy to host this group, they had a nice celebration and were great guests. Good tip on stocking up on games and books. A few came over from the Yukon and would be welcome back anytime. Thanks for staying with us. Joanne Korsmo
Best view in Skagway
Thanks for sharing your wonderful home. Our family greatly enjoyed using your home as part of our non-cruise vacation in Alaska. We enjoyed staying at your beautiful and comfortable home. Thanks.
A wonderful home for a vacation.
This was a great property for a vacation. A great view, nicely furnished, well maintained, and right off the main road. We were visiting family and sightseeing in Skagway, and the well-equipped kitchen and large deck allowed us to have a couple large meals with family and friends that joined our group of 10 staying at the house. The owners were very hospitable and flexible and checked in to be sure we enjoyed our stay and didn't have any problems. We will absolutely come back to this property when we get the chance to return to Skagway!
We had a wedding in Skagway and absolutely loved this house and the Owners!!!!

We absolutely loved this house! We had such a great stay and enjoyed the breathtaking views. Joanne and Mike were most accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The house had great features, beautiful woodwork, and was really comfortable.
Skagway is a National Park, there is a Park Service museum and City museum offering lots of wonderful history dating back to the 1898 Goldrush. Beautiful hikes and lots of activities such as White Pass Railroad, Packer Expeditions hiking to glaciers and kayak trips to Fraser B.C. Temsco Helicopters, Alaska Excursions Zipline, Horseback riding and dog sled tours. There is something for everyone.
