About Heather Barbosa

We bought this cabin back in 2003 as a family getaway. Our plan is to pass it down to our kids and create generations of wonderful memories. We are beach people most of the time but getting up to our cabin hideaway is the best way for our family to reconnect, relax and breath in the incredible mountain air! We have been blessed to own a little piece of heaven and want to share it with you!

Why Heather Barbosa chose Moonridge

We love walking in the moonlight and the serenity the night brings. The howling wolves from the zoo give the atmosphere of being deep in the wild without the risk of being eaten alive :o) There are so many things our family loves about Big Bear; the hikes, golfing, skiing and boarding are all within walking distance. Many people park when they get here and don't use their car until it's time to go home. There is a Vons about 2 mile away and the lakeshore can be accessed year round. I have been coming here as long as I can remember and will be coming back for as long as I can.

What makes this cabin unique

The view is the favorite of our guests. Although we are new to VRBO we have been sharing our cabin for years. Please check out our reviews for personal experiences. Some enjoyed the loft, where the kids can watch videos or DVD's and pretend its a treehouse. The mini-loft even has an amazing view and it's own private windows. This is a cozy cabin with a lot of character and personal touches. If you want to experience a unique place with fabulous views and all the amenities of home, book your next vacation with us! Most of our guests have been coming for annual family trips and multiple times a year.

Spring Break 2018

  • 1 of 5

Great location to Big Bear Upon arrival found that there was only 5 towels to shower with for the 5 days 1 hand towel for the bathroom and No facial towels I had to go buy additional towels since there was no Washer and dryer in house to even wash the 5 towels that were there. (I donated these the to house for next guest) The bathroom vanity had tons of old stuff just thrown underneith it was very dirty. Bedrooms were located downstairs each room had a small electric heater in them The warmest we could get it down there was 57 degress it was freezing. When we opened up on the the bunkbeds it had a dirty sock in it. There was only 1 light in this room and it was very dim hard to see in this room. All the blinds in the unit were missing panels and they would hardly open up Newly remodeled kitchen was nice. Owner might want to add washer and dryer for guest staying I am a rental property owner myself and was very dissapointed in this VRBO rental Owner sent a bottle of wine but we don't drink, but thank you for the thought. Also no vacuum to use while we were there to freshen up the place. No dishwasher all hand washing for dishes. If you are looking for a home to stay in while in bear and want complete accomidations for your stay this isnt the place for you.

Owner's Response: Wow! I am blind sided by this review. First, I am very sorry your experience at my cabin was so terrible to warrant a 1 star review. You booked my cabin months in advance and had the rental agreement in plenty of time to either inquire about amenities not listed or cancel your reservation with no penalties and 100% refund, as I have a very generous cancellation policy. The second page of my rental agreement clearly states that we do not provide bath towels and guest is to bring their own. I don't believe you read the contract that you signed and initialed. A week before your stay I sent you a welcome email with all access codes. In that email I reminded you to bring your own towels, I also allowed you to check in early and checkout late, as to make the most of your time on the mountain. Only then were you surprised that we didn't provide towels, but I still made sure housekeeping was to leave you (6) towels for your stay, which they confirmed. Your reservation was for (2) people and 4 nights. Then you asked where the laundry room was the day you arrived. We do not list this cabin with a laundry room or dishwasher. As a VRBO owner yourself, you know there is an option to list laundry and kitchen amenities. If these amenities were a requirement for your stay, I would assume you would confirm if we had them, after not seeing them under amenities on our listing. I have since added that towels are not provided on the listing, per your suggestion. I sent you a bottle of champagne as you had a rainy day and no snow; I thought it might make your stay a little less grey. I have notified housekeeping about the sock and to clean under the sink; however, extra toiletries are there for people who forget shampoo, lotion, etc. We have plans to replace the blinds this spring. They were just installed last year and the busy winter season, unfortunately took a toll on them. As for the heaters, I have never had a complaint that the cabin was too cold. Perhaps you forgot to plug them in, as they really heat up the space. I appreciate your feedback and will make a better effort to emphasize what is not included for future guests. Again, I am very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay as I take every review to heart.

Wonderful cabin with incredible view!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family trip with our baby and absolutely loved everything about this cabin. Charming decor, spectacular view and location right next to Bear Mountain runs, really nice kitchen with all you need to make meals, comfortable bed, great shower, and big flat screen tv. We can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

We stayed for 4 nights in this beautiful cozy cabin for Christmas and we just loved everything about it from the inside and out. The views were beautiful overlooking the ski slope and zoo. Very convenient we walked to the slopes and the zoo. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you heather and family for everything

Very bad

  • 1 of 5

When I first walked in, everything is good except the bed in master bedroom. The bed was not cleaned, there are a lot of hair and kind of greasy in the bed. We had to leave and find another place to live called "Cozy Hollow Inn". I have photos for proof that the bed is very gross, I do have the invoice for booking another place in big bear and I want my money back.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry that your experience was bad! When you notified me the day after your stay I was very apologetic and 100% refunded your money. I also sent you a check to reimburse you for your hotel stay. There was obviously a mix up on the dates we had our housekeeping clean the cabin. It's disappointing that you did not mention the 100% refund or that I actually paid out of pocket to help reimburse for your hotel stay. My guests are my number one priority. As you can see from the other reviews the condition of the cabin was an isolated incident.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the view, swinging in the hammocks or stretched out on the lounge chars with a morning cup of coffee. Wolves howling in the early morning and early nighttime hours reminded us we were away from the city.

Weather you like the brisk cold air of winter or the warm cozy sun of summer, our cabin has the best of both! Our southern facing view deck allows 180 degree view of the slopes. Even in the winter the deck allows you to enjoy the warm sun while surrounded by snow. In the summer months there are numerous birds to watch from inside or outside of the cabin. The Visitor Center located on the North Shore of the lake is a must for first time visitors. Here you can gain all the information on hikes, Bear Valley history, and local events. There is a small museum too. The Moonridge Zoo is just below our place and you will hear the wolves at night and around feeding time. The golf course is one of the most beautiful I have played on and only steps away. It's a 9 hole course, but you can play two rounds for 18. Balls seem to travel so much higher and longer in the higher altitude! The driving range is a must too. We are located roughly 2 miles from Lake activities. There is a the 'Belle' paddle boat tour that gives you an local look at the lake shorelines, lake history and celebrity home locations. There is so much to do in Big Bear...too much to list!
