Beware the mountain!
The home and location are beautiful. However, beware the drive up the mountain is not for the light hearted are for a small car.
Beautiful, spacious home atop a VA mountain (literally!)
Our family had a wonderful 4-day stay in Free Union, VA - a real getaway! We enjoyed the home with its spectacular mountain views and very comfy accommodations. We awoke peacefully in the morning to deer grazing on the front lawn. We spent our days exploring Luray Caverns, hiking in Shenandoah National Park, and enjoying the natural splendors of the area. As for the dirt road up to the house, it's quite manageable with 4-wheel drive and it adds to the real "getaway" feel of the property. There are supermarkets, etc. within 30-45 min. so we loaded up and had fun, family dinners at home. It was the perfect family getaway!
This is a beautiful, clean house in a beautiful area. We really appreciated the wine glasses, nice furnishings, spotless environment, and breathtaking views. The fire pit is a great added bonus--and the pictures provide a good depiction of the space. The road in from 29 to 33 is a bit nerve racking in places. We felt coming to and from the house from Crozet (810 I believe) was an easier journey--especially during fog, sleet, etc. Tony was very helpful and responsive. All and all one of the best places we have been-although be prepared to stay if you are not accustomed to mountain roads. ;-)
Great house with jaw-dropping views
It is on top of a mountain, so the road up and the weather could be a challenge for some.
The owner is very helpful.
Wonderful mountain house
Great house! Drive up on gravel road was fun!! Stunning views. A little disappointed that the house wasn't clean when we arrived but that aside the stay was fantastic.
Great house but difficult to get to.
We really enjoyed our stay but the drive up the mountain was a little too stressful for us . Had a good time sitting around the fire pit & looking at the stars; hiked down to Stone Mountain Vinyard & back up.
