Great location and experience!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay! Home lives up to the pictures, and the location is priceless if you prefer to be around locals and not in the middle of tourists and hotels. Plus, it's a short (15-minute) walk from the museum campus. We enjoyed the mornings and evenings with the ducks, geese, and swan visiting each morning adding to the experience one would never get in a hotel. Bedrooms are on separate sides of the home providing plenty of privacy. Mario was responsive to each email and made the experience easy and enjoyable!

We had the best stay on Mario’s boat. It is in a great neighborhood that is quiet.

  • 5 of 5

The neighborhood has nice restaurants nearby as well as a supermarket. The canal only has smaller boats cruising by with people on them that are having as good a time as you are. The only thing we wished the boat had is an outdoor deck to hangout on as we watched boats pass. The two bedrooms were nice sized, bathroom small but we didn’t hang in there too much. The living room could use a coffee table too. All in all, Mario’s boat was perfect for us. We took two late afternoon canal cruises in three days. Be sure to bring wine, cheese, bread, dried meats, etc. for the perfect cruise.

Cozy houseboat in a beautiful canal in a local part of town

  • 4 of 5

We loved watching the boats and ducks from this boat. The part of town is also perfect as it is not in the thick of the tourist action, it was great to feel like a local and still be close to sites. We stayed with our baby and greatly appreciated the crib and second room-a door or curtain on the room would have been a plus.

The kitchen had all we needed for cooking and the Albert Heijn was not too far away. All in all a great stay.

Unique experience!

  • 4 of 5

Great location! Gracious host. The boat is spacious and clean. An automatic coffee pot would have been good for us addicts, but we made do. Coffee was provided and some snacks. Nice kitchen. Windows onto the canal throughout—fun to see the boats and ducks

Great location, awesome scenery.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and friend stayed at the houseboat for a few days in the middle of our travels. Paulo and Mario were easy to communicate with and accommodating. On the day we arrived, I contacted paulo and quickly got a response to allow us weary travels to check in early.

The boat was clean and cozy. it was in a great location. We easily walked to (almost) every tourist attraction in the city. It is in a quiet part of town. Close to stores and restaurants.

I believe I read a few posts about others having issues with the bathroom. It is more of a wet room shower, so the entire room is subjected to getting wet if someone uses the shower. But, you are on a boat and it didn't bother us one bit. I guess if you want a more traditional shower maybe don't stay on a boat.

We loved it. The ducks and boats passing by were an added bonus. :)

Wonderful, unique experience in a great part of town

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in the canal boat during our time in Amsterdam. We loved going to sleep and waking up with view of the water. I stayed with my three children and it was certainly large enough for us. The space was very clean and the host very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The family-friendly neighborhood is so quiet and safe yet very close to public transit and restaurants and grocery stores. It was perfect for us! One note: While there is a shower curtain (and plenty of hot water!), the floor to the toilet area in the bathroom will get wet while you shower. Not a big deal as a squeegee and extra towels are provided but it helps to know this ahead of time.
