Set on a beautiful seven acres of wooded hillside, Homestead Hideaway offers you a unique opportunity to rest and relax within a peaceful setting. Located just 15 Miles from Galena, Illinois, our cabins in the woods can be your home away from home while you enjoy Galena, Chestnut Mountain, hiking, wineries, and all the other amenities Jo Daviess County has to offer.

When you stay at Homestead Hideaway, you can simply relax in our cozy rustic cabins, or get out and enjoy everything the area has to offer. At Homestead Hideaway you can expect a tranquil feel and a stress free retreat. The cabins are located in a beautiful rural area where it is perfect to have a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings and enjoy the wildlife. Let our cabins be a rare chance to unplug from the world and help ensure you have a relaxed and secluded stay. We are NOT able to provide Internet or cable TV due to the location of the cabins. However, do not let that steer you away from the beautiful setting. There are numerous locations in Galena as well as E-Town Coffee in Elizabeth, IL with Internet access.

We have two historic cottages located on the property and three separate rentals. The cabins are located on opposite ends of the property. You can enjoy the seven acres of wooded area by hiking or taking your dog for a walk. Whether you are planning a romantic trip to Galena, a golfing trip, a couple’s getaway, a wine lovers weekend, or skiing at Chestnut Mountain during the winter months, Homestead Hideaway will accommodate to your needs.

We have been renting the cabins for about 2 years now. We have decided to go beyond the brochure advertising and word of mouth and work with VRBO for our rentals. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.

This specific rental is the Seven Sisters Suite which is located on the top two levels of our main cabin. The lower level of this cabin is our Gleneagle Suite which is also listed on VRBO Listing #624157 & our other cabin on the property is listed as the Brimeyer Cabin VRBO Listing #624141

We now have a landline at the cabin. It is for local and emergency(911) calling only. If you wish to call long distance you will need to bring a calling card. However, long distance inbound calling is free.

Starting Mid August 2022 We will have passes available for ACL Nixon beach (15 minute drive) and ACL pool. You must speak to host prior to arrival for information. You must have tags and parking passes for these amenities and there is a fee from security deposit IF YOU LOST TAGS

Spring Break Trip

Quiet & secluded. The property is "away" from everything. But also a short trip to great hiking, fishing, and Galena. Quiet nights to enjoy family and fires. Busy days to enjoy the outdoors. If you want to get away, this is a great spot.

Amazing Host!!

This would have been our 6th time we used this cabin. It is always neat, clean, and for us a perfect location! Unfortunately the weather in mid-January was snow and freezing temps would/t allow us to make the trip. The HOST was amazing and allowed us to make other arrangements. We will be back to the area in a couple of months and truly look forward to spending the time at the cabin, and with family. Deana made a stressful decision ... stress free! Thank you and we look forward spending time in the area!

Amazing, Romantic, Perfect Getaway!

It was exactly what we needed. It took a couple hours to adjust to not having internet, texting or TV. But it was perfect once we adjusted. The location is beautiful and close to Galena. Plus, we had a blast listening and dancing to live music at Cajun Jacks in Elizabeth. The only suggestion, download music before you get there. No internet means no Pandora, Amazon Music or Apple Music unless you download the songs ahead of time. But overall, it was a perfect getaway. Highly recommended.

Christmas Getaway

Made for a special Christmas experience with the family. Glad Santa found the cabin because it is far out in the hills of Elizabeth. If you’re not familiar with the countryside, you shouldn’t be surprised if there are a few lady bugs here or there. Farmers release millions of them a year to fight off other crop pests. It’s common and they don't hurt no body. There is very limited cell if you go on the porch. Just enough to get a “made it” text out. The cabin was clean with plenty of instruction around it in picture frames of how to keep it so for others. The appliances all work, there’s plenty of dishes, firewood for the wood burning stove, lots of dvd’s with fun movies for kids and adults. Sports car friendly, no big pot holes around to navigate. Lovely windy roads that would make any car guy grin. 10/10 Perfect getaway

I purchased this property as a hobby aside from being a member of our US Navy. I have been a member of the US Military for 20+ years. I enjoy nature and being outdoors. I believe this property gives you a feel for what its like to truly relax and get away from the rest of the world.
