About Kevin & Patty Montague
We have lived in Girdwood for over 30 years - and Alaska for a lifetime. We have raised three children in this community and we are rooted here. Girdwood provides easy wilderness access for hikes in the summer and skiing in the winter. Our family members can provide personal local tours if desired.
Kevin & Patty Montague purchased this Chalet in 1997
Why Kevin & Patty Montague chose Girdwood
Virgin Creek Lodge is a sanctuary for people wanting a break from everyday urban living. There is 'weather' here…it's dynamic and ever changing - never static. Girdwood is a leisure based community where people from all Alaskan walks of life live… in the classical sense - Life is simply good here.
What makes this Chalet unique
Girdwood valley is North-America's most northern boreal rainforest. Natural rejuvenation of the the senses - wonder. Complementary nature walks upon request.

I loved the peacefulness and privacy! The hike to the falls was amazing!
It was an awesome weekend getaway. It was so quiet and just had the sounds of nature the great views.

Cozy, unique, elaborate attention to detail
We loved staying here! Patty is wonderful; she was informative and accommodating. We used the rental as a working weekend get-away From anchorage to celebrate a birthday... it was perfect! The atmosphere is charming, there is plenty of room for 2 laptops + at the bar seating, the wifi works great and the hot tub makes a wonderful mid-day work break! I would recommend to anyone staying in Girdwood!!

Cozy, clean and romantic
We rented this beautiful secluded perch for our honeymoon night. Our stay was amazing! Cozy, clean, and stocked with the essentials. Kevin and Patty even left a bottle of champagne and a hand written note in the fridge to celebrate our big day. to add to the romance, there is a two person bathtub, a Jacuzzi on the porch and a short waterfall walk borders the property. Excellent location and service. Thank you Kevin and Patty!
Thank you for this very kind review. Enjoy your lives together.
Best Wishes Always,
Couldn't have been better. Seriously.
We loved our stay at Virgin Creek Lodge! The lodge is basically a second floor loft above a garage and appeared newly built or remodeled. The kitchen was fully functioning with a great view of the neighboring woods and, off in the distance, the bay. The space was everything you want in a vacation rental: clean, safe and well appointed. Our host Patty was fantastic as well, we had a few questions during our stay and she was responsive and followed up on things that needed to be. She had even provided us with a few staples in the fridge before our arrival. We loved the hot tub out on the deck and took advantage of it daily; rain or no rain.
A few other details… our stay was in mid September. We arrived after dark, and directions were simple enough and accurate. The town of Girdwood is small, but offers everything you might need. Our favorite meal was at Spoonline. (And we ate some WAY more expensive meals on our trip). The Crow Creek Gold Mine was a local attraction that we enjoyed as well.
Our bottom line is that we’d gladly stay there again and would recommend to friends without hesitation. A+
Thank you for taking the time to write up a most impressive and wonderful review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Please do come back and visit.
Virgin Creek Lodge is nestled on one and a half acres against Max's Mountain in a forested glacial valley, above Virgin Creek. The lodge is on a ridge line facing south/southwest with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and Turnagain Arm. Virgin Creek Falls hiking trail can be directly accessed from the property. The 'Falls' trail head provides a gateway to alpine hiking in the summer and back country skiing in the winter.
Virgin Creek Lodge is on the end of Timberline Dr. The gravel drive, on the left side of the cudesac, is steep and requires AWD or 4WD for the winter months. A second driveway, at street level, is provided.
