Welcome to the treehouse nestled in the exclusive Hound Ear's Country Club Community. This chalet offers a lovely leafy view for the peak season.

This property has one queen bedroom and a lovely bath with the original round bath and shower. Property completely renovated. This chalet is built around a rocky outcrop with an enormous boulder in the back yard with a bench. This is a great place for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend. This property has a hot tub that sits in the backyard with a lovely view. The kitchen and living area has a great view. You must see it to believe it. Another great aspect of this property is that it is so large there is another chalet on the property. So if you have a few more people that want to join the getaway you can all stay on the same property. So check out 201 Laurel as well.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband & I were looking for a quiet place to getaway and relax. We had a great time. This place is located in a perfect place near many restaurants and many places to visit. We recommend this place if you're looking a for quiet place, this is perfect.

Pretty location. Needs more attention.

We stayed here for two nights. The property itself has a great location right outside of Boone with easy access to town and many hikes. The chalet style house is really cool. It is in a beautiful location tucked away among boulders on the side of a mountain in a nice gated community. Not much of a view but a really interesting house and environment. Unfortunately, the house was not guest ready as I would have expected upon our arrival. The main selling point of this house for me was the hot tub. We arrived Friday evening excited to have some relaxing time outside in the hot tub. Upon stepping outside the porch was completely covered in leaves. It is fall so some leaves were expected but it does not seem like it had been swept in anticipation of guests. The tub was set at 70 degrees. We turned the tub on around 9 pm and it was not close to ready by midnight so we called it a night. It was ready to go by morning but very disappointing that it was not warmed up to a reasonable starting temperature before our arrival. We did enjoy the tub the next night but the jets on one side were not working; another let down. The house also lacked privacy. Curtains were too small to cover the windows and block inside visibility from our neighbors and some windows did not have blinds/curtains all together. The house was not extremely clean. The wall/windowsills all around the house had a layer of gunk (and what appeared to be mold) built up, there appeared to be mold growing inside of the bathroom mirror, and when we stripped the bed there were all kinds of stains on the mattress pad. The bed and pillows were VERY uncomfortable (especially the mattress). We had three old mismatched towels for two people and two nights. Not a big deal but assuming people are using the hot tub it would make sense to have four towels. Last complaint is the stove did not have a fan so if you plan on cooking here the house will be hazed . We spent over $400 for our two night stay here. The property and rental itself has lots of potential to be amazing but the details need more attention. I would have been less critical had this been a $120/night rental including all of the hidden fees but was not impressed with our experience.

Clearwater, Florida

I'd come back but I want to stay longer so I would want a larger place

Great location in exclusive neighborhood, quiet but at night some road noise could be heard but it was not intrusive, very comfortable and adequately furnished, the entire area appealing, quiet, and full of the kinds of mountain things we wanted to do to get away from Florida

Cozy treehouse in the woods-private yet amenities easily accessible

  • 5 of 5

This cozy treehouse in the woods was the perfect escape from the brutal summer heat for our little family. While small, this space has everything you need to be comfortable. There is a great outdoor space as well with deck and hot tub. The beautiful Hounds Ear Club was a bonus-gorgeous location! And the security personnel at the main gate were more than helpful with providing a map and directions to the property. The owners were also easy to contact and responded quickly to questions. They went out of their way to make this a great stay for us. I highly recommend! We will be back!

We LOVE the high country and Hound Ears - been coming for years and always had good luck with VRBO. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the cute little treehouse. My husband made the arrangements and dealt with the owner and said she was very nice. However there were problems. The smell of cigarette smoking permeated the air, furnishings and bedding - and especially inside one of the kitchen cabinets - which was strange? Since there is not a washer/dryer in this unit we weren't able to wash the sheets, etc. We aired the place out and it got better as week progressed but never went away and was in our clothes, too by the end of week. It was a little dirty, too. Not filthy, but there was a dead fly in the refrigerator, several large ants and spiders on the walls, etc. I understand it's a treehouse so if this had been the only issue, wouldn't be worth mentioning. Arrived on a Sunday night to discover the cold water faucet on the shower was broken - no cold water for a shower and the hot water was scalding. We emailed the owner Monday afternoon. Wednesday night we got a knock on the door. A man staying on the property below - a handyman of the owner we think? - asked us to move our car. At 9:25pm that THURSDAY night a different guy knocks on the door - no prior warning. Says he's there to look at shower to see what parts he needs to fix it. Never saw or heard from him again. So no properly working shower the entire week. Sunday to Sunday. There was a tub but it's teeny tiny. We managed. The owner was very apologetic and told my husband "it's hard to get good help in the mountains" when he followed up with her. I noticed in the guest book that another previous guest had stated there was a lack of follow up on an issue they brought to owner as well. The night before we left a new set of folks renting the property below - a young family knocked on our door. Clearly the mom was upset with the state of that rental as well - she asked where to take garbage - apparently the men who had knocked on our door earlier in the week had left their place dirty and left cigarette butts. Family with young children - we felt bad for them. The mom said she called the owner and the owner said to her "it's hard to get good help in the mountains." Lol. Too bad because the treehouse is cute for a couple - and it was nice having a hot tub. Hound Ears is beautiful and a great location in the HC. Not able to recommend treehouse. :(
