In 1991, I started a jewelry manufacturing business in Albuquerque having repatriated from a stint working at Sharp Electronics in Osaka, Japan. In 2006, I was itching to take on my dream to run a remodeling company. That, was the beginning of ABQ Pad Rentals and the vacation rental business.
Douglas purchased this House in 2008
Why Douglas chose Highland Business
I look for buildings with good bones and then work to restore them to their glory days. The location of the property is the most important component. Fun things to do close by make the visit complete.
What makes this House unique
Here I have a quiet oasis in the middle of a tourist area. Lots of fun things to do and see that fill up the day.

We had a great stay! Clean and spacious house with great outdoor patio space. Enjoyed the park right across the street with our two year old. Owner was quick to reply to questions and very helpful. Added bonus, this house is a walk-able distance from Sprouts. Highly recommended!
Thank you for noticing the work and thought put into making Route 66, Three bedroom 2 Bath a complete rental home for the traveler visiting "The City Different". I had this home listed more than a year ago on VRBO.com and rented it to a family that ended staying a year! That listing expired. So your visit was the first one since I re-listed Route 66 on a new VRBO vacation rental offer. I'm so glad you got out of the car and walked our neighborhood. I hope to attract visitors that do not want to rent a car. Your review hit so many positive points about Route 66, that I will make it a Feature Review! It's fun to meet so many interesting people. Thank you so much for your review and stay. Doug (owner)
Perfect place to unwind in the evening. Walking distance to many interesting places on Central. Very comfortable and well maintained.
Comforts of home away from home!
Clean, beautiful home with everything you need for a nice break from hectic pace of life. Comfortable beds for a good night sleep.
Doug provided a clean house with all the amenities we needed.
We have now stayed at 2 properties that Doug manages. He is prompt in responding to questions and very helpful on knowledge of the local area. Both homes were very clean and well stocked with the items we needed. I would heartily recommend looking for a property that Doug was controlling. We will certainly look for him if we are in Albuquerque again👍🏼
Great place to stay
This Nob Hill property was a great place to stay as we started our New Mexico adventure. Very comfortable, felt like home and is in a super great neighborhood. It was easy to get to and was the perfect launch into our vacation. Would for sure stay there again.
Very comfortable and clean
This house is located in a quiet neighborhood, but is also near shopping. The kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the comforts of home, with comfortable beds and furniture. The bathroom had plenty of room for all the necessities. When we needed to stay an extra day because of a snow storm between Albuquerque and our home, Doug was very accommodating. We will certainly stay here again when we are in Albuquerque. Thank you Doug for having such a nice home for travelers.
This house offers the attractions of Route 66 and historic Nob Hill. Spanish colonial meets Western territorial architecture. A very walkable community with many options for food and entertainment.
