This charming Victorian style home is located on Thames Street just steps away from Newport's finest restaurants, vibrant waterfront, shopping, historical sites, and nightlife.

This clean home featuring many hand crafted details accommodates six guests in three comfortable air conditioned bedrooms. A very comfortable Full sleeper sofa is located in a private room with an adjacent bathroom on the first floor. Fresh linens and bedding are provided. Full bathrooms located on the first and second floor are supplied with plenty of towels and toiletries.

Whether in Newport for a vacation, weekend get away, wedding, conference, annual music festivals or sailing events, 490 Thames Street provides comfortable and conveniently located accommodations.

The country kitchen is well appointed with modern appliances, abundant cooking utensils and dinnerware. A cozy common area in the adjoining room includes a plush sleeper sofa, recliner and dining nook that overlooks the garden. Cable service, a flat screen TV and WIFI internet are provided.

The sitting room includes a working fireplace and a wide variety of books. Your host's original paintings are displayed throughout the house.

Charming and unique home

Five of us stayed in this charming and unique home along one of the main strips in Newport. It was conveniently located to everything we wanted to see - a walk to most places. It was clean and well-equipped, and Frank is a fantastic host. The garden out back is a peaceful oasis in this sea of activity. I was concerned about noise at night, being on such a busy road. But if you turn on the A/C, you don't hear anything. I would definitely return.

We loved the comfort and convenience of Frank's house for our family's weekend visit to Newport

This lovely house made us feel right at home. It is very clean and has every thing that you need. It is a small house, but what it lacks in size is made up by the beautiful garden and the convenience of being in the heart of Newport. We were 5 adults, so the bunk bed was small for the 5th person. We would sit out in the garden at night and drink wine. It was a perfect end to a day of sightseeing. The house is located directly across the street from O'Brien's Pub, which is a really nice place to have a beer. We thought the noise would be a problem, but it was not a problem at all. If you are looking for a charming house in the heart of Newport, Frank's house would be a great choice. Teveia

Charming, though in need of deep cleaning

Newport Charm in this Stellar Vacation Home

We had our best out of 4 vacations in Newport staying at Frank's place on Thames. His home is decorated with Newport charm and full of his amazing artwork. It also has everything you need to cook and entertain guests, and the garden in the backyard is especially beautiful and peaceful. There is a grill and seating for many people and he even has patio dishes which came in handy since we ate most of our meals out there. The kitchen is huge and stocked with all the necessities. Frank even left bottled water for us that lasted our stay. The bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds and cotton sheets! Frank has the home stocked with tons of bath and beach towels which was a huge plus as we went to the beach almost everyday. The home is warm and friendly and so is Frank! But best of all we loved the location! It is right on Thames and has 2 off street parking spots. Nice to not have to drive thru the neighborhood finding a spot to park. And we were right across the street from O'Brian's Irish Pub which is a fun spot to hang out evenings and a short walk home. Many great restaurants in short walking distance. The pub is noisy at night but we ran the fan on the air conditioner and didn't hear a thing in any of the bedrooms so it did not keep us awake. This place is very reasonably priced , very clean and comfortable! We loved it and will stay again.

Home away from home; central to everything

We had a fantastic time at Frank's house. He is a wonderful host and incredibly helpful (very interesting guy to chat with, too). It is so homey that it is hard to give it up at the end of a week... The house dates back to the late 19th century which gives it a lot of charm, and it is filled with Frank's art and artwork. It takes an evening just to tour the house and see everything. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking, and the grill is great. The backyard is beautiful. You can walk to everything - through town, to the Cliff Walk and mansions, to the ferry dock, etc.- and just leave your car parked in the driveway. If we go back to Newport, we would definitely rent this house again!
